I've installed SharePoint foundation over windows 7 with a local account using this guide:
When I try to create a new web application the ribbon button is disabled. Using the link located in /_admin/createsite.aspx I get an "Access Denied" error message.
I access the SP Administration with the same user used during installation. This user is local admin and member of SQL server roles "securityadmin" and "dbcreator".
Any idea about this error?
Thanks in advance
I have installed a new instance of Sharepoint 2007 and am in the process of configuring all the farm services. At the moment the farm consists of a sharepoint box and a separate sql server. Here is the catch. There are already some non-sharepoint
databases on the sharepoint server. The account under which Central Administration runs has dbcreator and securityadmin privileges in the database. The Sharepoint_Config and SharePoint_AdminContent databases were created without any issues.
When I try to start the Windows Services Search, I get an "Unknown Error." Looking in the event viewer gives the following error "The server principal "MyServerPrincipal" is not able to access the database "MyDatabase" under the current security context."
This is true, MyServerPrincipal does not have privileges to access MyDatabase, but why should it. MyDatabase has nothing to do with sharepoint.
In an attempt to get past this issue, I gave MyServerPrincipal public access to MyDatabase, but that resulted in an additional error saying that it lacked INSERT privileges. This is really worriesome. Does anyone know why Sharepoint Search configuration
would try to access the non-Sharepoint database?
Thanks a lot.
Hi to all,
I've an environment that includes 3 machines: the sp2010 frontend (W2K8 R2), the sp2010 backend (SQL2008 R2), the analysis services backend (SQL2008 R2).
I've successfully setup my environment with Kerberos constrained delegation and the entire thing works fine with both performancepoint and excel services (the requirement was to pass the user's domain identity to the analysis backend): thanks to the
excellent SP2010 Kerberos Guide.
Now I've extended this portal to the Extranet zone, assigned it a new host header and upgraded my SPNs to include the new fqdn and also added it to the necessary accounts in Active Directory.
In the intranet environment everything is fine. I've published the Sharepoint site to the external network onto the ISA 2006 and setup the Kerberos constrained delegation from the isa computer account to the Sharepoint SPN.
So here is the point: I can correctly access the Sharepoint site from external with Kerberos authentication, performancepoint is fine but I cannot open excel workbooks from this zone, I already trusted both the file and the data connection locations with
the external fqdn but still no luck. Even the sample workbook does not open. The error is "error while trying to execute the requested action. Retry".
Anyone has any hint on the possible causes?
In this article the author looks at two versions of the same application--one consuming an on-premise Data Service, and one consuming an Azure Table Data Service to illustrate data access in the cloud.

Building Web Services to provide enterprise-level solutions is only the first step. You need to take care of the infrastructure aspects of your solution as well, including provisioning, billing, security, and reporting. In this article, the author uses the .NET Framework and SQL Server 2000 to design a provisioning system that will take care of all these housekeeping tasks. He discusses the general requirements of a Web Service provisioning system, walks through the implementation, and then outlines various scenarios for putting this system to work.
