SSRS 2008 R2 - Query builder freezes and needs to be shut down Report Builder 3 when attempting quie

Hi, In SSRS, using Report Builder 3.0 (SSRS R2), after choosing a Report Model as the report's embedded data source, launched "Query Deisinger…" from GUI to build data source in report.  First 1-2 attempts at querying underlying data source (Oracle back-end), are successful, but later attempts freeze application to the point where application freezes and overall Report Builder application needs to be forcibly shut-down. This system freeze has occurred when referencing tables containing a very small number of records as well as larger data sets.  Suspect that application freezing may be caused by timing-out of connection to back-end database. but I am not sure. Any suggestion to solve this issue? MDX Query for Defualt Value in SSRS Parameter

Hello everybody, I am new to MDX and struggling to come up with a query that works.  I have a  SSRS report  that filters by week. I need to write a query that will run for last week as default. The query i have cooked up is: WITH MEMBER Measures.Lastweek as [Time Dimension].[Report Week].currentmember.lag(1) Select Measures.lastweek on 0, [Time Dimension].[Report Week] on 1 from [sales] This returns a null value. I have searched and searched the internet for the answer but i have found nothing. I would really appreciate some help.   Thanks.

How to get one specific row to be the last row returned from a query?

 I have a table of skills.  In that table, are rows of data with various skill type.  I need to return a list of those skills in alphabetical order, with one exception.  The skills "General" can't be listed in the "G's", instead, it needs to be the last item.  (Crazy, I know, but it's to discourage users from settling on a selection of "General".  This statement returns all the skills in alphabetical order, but "General" is listed right in the middle with other "G's:SELECT SkillsID, Skill, SkillDesc FROM tSkills  ORDER BY Skill

Comma Separated list returned from XML query

I found an example of how to do this, but I must have something wrong as I can't get it to execute without syntax errors or errors. SSRS Query Designer (in BIDS) does not generate ANSI SQL

Hello, I have a problem when using SQL Server 2005 BIDS (Business Intelligence Development Studio) when connected to an Oracle data source.  The Query Designer generates the old Oracle SQL syntax instead of ANSI SQL.  This is with the Oracle 10g client installed. So, I would really appreciate it if anybody knows how to get the Query Designer to generate the ANSI SQL.   Thanks, Stuart

SSRS - Filtering Query Results

Hello

How can I hide NULL rows in my SSRS report? I want to filter this cellset based on my "Sale Unit" measure. If it is null then its row should be completely hidden.

Here is my MDX Query behin the report:

WITH
MEMBER Measures.[DC Stock Level] AS SUM([Dim Date].[WeeklyCalendar].[Week Of Year].members(0):ClosingPeriod([Dim Date].[WeeklyCalendar].[Week Of Year]), Measures.[DcInventory] )

MEMBER Measures.[Store Stock Level] AS SUM([Dim Date].[WeeklyCalendar].[Week Of Year].members(0):ClosingPeriod([Dim Date].[WeeklyCalendar].[Week Of Year]), Measures.[StoreInventory] )

SELECT NON EMPTY { [Measures].[Sale Unit],[Measures].[DC Stock Level],[Measures].[Store Stock Level] } ON COLUMNS,
NON EMPTY { ([Dim Product MAX].[Product].[Style Code].ALLMEMBERS ) } DIMENSION PROPERTIES MEMBER_CAPTION, MEMBER_UNIQUE_NAME ON ROWS FROM [HC_WEEKLYSALES] CELL PROPERTIES VALUE, BACK_COLOR, FORE_COLOR, FORMATTED_VALUE, FORMAT_STRING, FONT_NAME, FONT_SIZE, FONT_FLAGS

SSRS taking a long time to run an MDX query

Hi,

I have an MDX query which runs fine in the MDX Sample Application. It runs against an SSAS 2000 cube. In my query there is a recursion kind of a logic. It takes about 1-2 sec to run in the MDX Sample Application. My sample application is in the same server as my AS 2000 cube is. However when I run the same MDX from another server through BIDS (2008) it takes an unusually long amount of time to run. Most of the time it times out. :(

As a workaround I created 4 calculated members in my Cube itself (Initially these were used as members in my MDX). I thought that maybe the recursion logic is the culprit so I modified my MDX, removed the recursion part. But still from my SSRS it is taking a long time.

Any pointers to where I am missing the trick ?

Thanks in advance,

Suman

MDX Query in SSRS Dataset taking more time

Hi All,

I have  created report based on below mention MDX query ,but it will take more time say of 10 mins to execute.while other report having bulky data in their datset working fine.

Kindly suggest how do i optimise the Query so it will take less time

with

member [measures].[A]as
iif([Measures].[CALLSHANDLED]=0,0,[Measures].[HANDLETIME]/[Measures].[CALLSHANDLED])

member [measures].[B]as
iif([Measures].[Avg After Call Work]=0,0,[Measures].[Avg After Call Work])

member [measures].[C]as

member [measures].[BB] as ((STRTOMEMBER(@EmployeeEMPLOYEENAME)), [Measures].[B] )
member [measures].[CC] as ((STRTOMEMBER(@EmployeeEMPLOYEENAME)), [Measures].[C] )

SSRS 2005 Report Writer Limitation- 128 Max Length for Query Strings Constructed in Data Tab???!!!

I'm trying to construct a SELECT query within the Report Writer 2005 Data Tab as follows- ="SELECT blah..." & SomeFunctionToConstructWhereClause() " ORDER BY 1"

When the length exceeds 128 characters, I get the following error (works otherwise)- Microsoft Report Designer Incorrect syntax near '='. <QUERY TEXT> The identifier that starts with is too long. Maximum length is 128.

Say it isn't so or that there is a reasonable workaround for this. 128 characters isn't that much when you're talking about complex query strings. Thanks in advance.

SSRS 2008 Header and Pages Printed discrepancy

I have a SSRS 2008 report.

If I hide some of the rows on the report, there is a count discrepancy between the number of pages acually printed and the total number of pages shown in the page header.

For example, the total number of pages printed are 23 but the header on the last page shows page 22 of 26.

Master Data Services, SSRS, and the Query Designer.

Hey everyone,

For the most part, I have this thing figured out; however, I now need to assign to a property of a method's parameter a collection of member types.

Here is my query (I have emboldened the segment of the query which my question is directed towards):

<Query>

          <Method Namespace="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/masterdataservices/2009/09" Name="MetadataGetRequest">

          <Parameters>

          <Parameter Name="ResultOptions" Type="XML">

<DefaultValue>

<Attributes>Identifiers</Attributes>

</DefaultValue>

          </Parameter>

 <Parameter Name="SearchCriteria" Type="XML">

<DefaultValue>

<MemberTypes attr0="MemberTypeArra

Importing a query from an .mdx file - Support (SSRS 2008)

I'm writing an MDX query which would be used as the main dataset. The issue that I'm facing is that the query is really big because of it's nature of members and requirement and Reporting Services doesn't support the number of characters that I'm using. So I saw this Import button and imported the MDX query. However I don't get the list of members in the fileds section which I can use in the Report Textbox. I was reading http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd239327.aspx and it says that "Importing a query from an .mdx file is not supported"....

My question is would it every be supported? Is there a workaround for what I'm trying above? I would appreicate any help on the same.

Thank you!
