SharePoint Designer 2010 External Content Types Data Source Already Exists in Business Data Connecti

I used the Secure Store to create connection in SharePoint 2010 Designer External Content Types Data Source Explorer.  Later I changed some column names in the table.  I deleted the connection from Data Source Explorer and recreated it. I right clicked on the table and selected Create All Operations. When I clicked the Finish button, I got "The system definition with the same name as this data source already exists in the Business Data Connectivity Metadata Store and it refers to a different data source.  Cannot complete operation generation.  Add a connection to this data source with a different name and try again."

I re-created the Secure Store using a different name in SharePoint 2010 Central Administration.  I didn't find the option to choose the connection name in SharePoint 2010 Designer. After I clicked Add Connection, I entered the Database Server and the Database Name, selected Connect with Impersonated Window Identity, entered Secure Store name, and clicked OK. The connection created with the database name as before.

Connecting a Sharepoint Custom list with an external Data-source

Hi I am planning to connect a Sharepoint Custom list with an external Data-source. External DB will be in Access 2007 format. More Information: I need a solution that we can connect our sharepoint list (one-way) to online db in a way that new  information is directly updated in the sharepoint list, whilst other info changed in sharepoint list  is not synced back to original value. Is there a way to solve this? -saumil

Microsoft Excel and Sharepoint KPI's (External Data Source)

This is my first post i hope i get a clear answer for my question. I recenty have been working on KPI's drawn from Microsoft Excel documents that i created. However, as we know, external data sources in excel don't work with sharepoint. If that was possible it would have saved the company a lot of time and effort My questions are: Is there any way to have external data sources with some advanced modifications, or any other way that would simulate this process? (External data update) Can i directly update my data by tampering the database where the excel file is saved?   I don't know if the files uploaded in sharepoint are stored in a database, so i want some validation around this. (Name of the database, path etc.)   Hope you can shed some light to my questions Thanks in advance Theo

format-number issues with the Data View Web Part in SharePoint 2010

I have a number column named @Year_x0020_1_x0020_Revenue in the data view web part in SharePoint Designer 2010. In the Xpath expression builder - @Year_x0020_1_x0020_Revenue previews "500,000" If I use the format-number in the Xpath expression builder ==> format-number(@Year_x0020_1_x0020_Revenue, '$#,##0.00;-$#,##0.00'), it returns NaN. Is there any reason?

Data View Web Part in SharePoint Designer 2010

Is Data View Web Part (aka Data Form Web Part) in the SharePoint 2010 has changed from the SharePoint 2007 or Is it working differently in the SharePoint Designer 2010? In SharePoint Designer 2007, whenever you have data view web part on the page, there is little handle to click on the top right of the data view web part to show Common Common Data View Tasks. Also for each cell, there was a handle to show xsl:value-of tasks which was great for formatting. Is that option is gone in the SharePoint Designer 2010?

Calendar View for External Data List in SharePoint 2010?

I'd like to create a calendar view from data contained in an External List.  My external content type has a Start Date, End Date, and other calendar fields.  Is this possible using the out of the box BCS?

For extra credit - I'd like to then use this calendar as an overlay on other calendars within my SharePoint 2010 application.

Thanks for your help!

Surface data in external lists in Sharepoint Foundation 2010

I have seen numerous articles for the above, but they all just gloss over the step I am having a problem with, assuming nobody will have an issue with it.

I'm trying to create an External Content Type so I can use it to display external data (from SQL Server) in an External List.  When I get to the step to add the connection and the SQL Server connection dialog box appears, I enter the server and database names and click OK with the Connect with User's Identity radio button still selected and I get the error message: login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.  I've tried to read up on the different purposes of the radio buttons on offer on this dialog box but don't know which I should really be using and don't think I can create a target application ID anyway in Foundation (for the other two radio button options) as that has to be done in the secure store services.  Can anybody help with this?
