I have set alerts to notify me when a new doc is added. The alerts are receive for documents of generic content types, but when custom content types are used, then the alerts are not received. Does anyone have any solution/advice?

Thanks!

SharePoint Programming: Replace content in documents of Document Library

HI, I have 100+ word documents in one of the document libraries on our SharePoint portal. Most of these documents contain HYPERLINKS which refer to a totally different SharePoint server. My task is to update all these HYPERLINKS to point to our server instead of external server. Any pointers on how to accomplish this would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance Mahesh B

My project requires me to create an event reciever such that when a word file is added to one library the same content pdf file should be added to other library also when a word file is updated, edited or checked in the respective pdf file in other document library should be replaced by a new pdf file with the edited word content . Can we do this in Sharepoint 2007 I have seen this can be done in Sharepoint 2010 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff181518.aspx

Sharepoint 2010 Missing Content Types

Has anyone run into an issue where your system's base content types dissappear after deploying a new site definition.  We are doing a proof of concept using several CMS solutions and decided to see how sharepoint would fare in the process.  I worked on the POC for 6 weeks without any issues.  After selecting sharepoint as the solution I started refactoring my code into a more logical structure as many of the components were developed from sample code.  I created a couple of custom site definitions that were pretty simple.  Basically I copied the onenet.xml from the publishing site template that sharepoint uses and made a few simple modifications like associating my custom master page and a custom content type with the default page.  When I initially developed these I had no issues at all but yesterday I suddenly was not able to create sites using these site defs.  I figured there was some kind of conflict with my old templates so I deleted all site collections on the server and then tried to create a new site collection and then I couldn't even create a base publishing site.  I got an error indicating the base content type did not exist.  After spending hours going through logs it was clear that sharepoint was not able to build the content type hiearchy when creating new sites so I took a look at the UI and there were only abo

Sharepoint 2007 - 80GB Documents in 1 document library

Hi, My customer wants 'customer docs' in SharePoint. It is now stored on several disks and wants to move it to SharePoint 2007(!). It needs to go into a folder structure.....I'm now investigating the information that needs to move to SharePoint and it turns out a quick scan resulted in 210.000 documents with a total volume of 80GB. Off course this is raw data and thus containing archives, zips, access databases and a lost movie and the like (just like any normal network drive :-)). When I look at the limits and best practices: no folder should contain more then 2.000 items (OK) no doc lib should contain more then 2.000.000 items (more then OK) no file should be larger then 2GB (OK - we set it to a max of 150MB) It is all fine but my concern is the shear size of the total load. Let's say they don't migrate 80GB but 30-50GB. My Question: can a single MOSS 2007 document library hold this kind of documents and total size? What does this mean for overall performance, backup, search indexing, crawling etc etc?  Thnx for any tips!

XsltListViewWebPart: Document Library with Content Types

Good Morning, I have a requirement to add a webpart from a parent site to a child site to display a document library list view web part. Site structure eg: /parent/DocumentCenter /parent/ChildSite I have followed the instructions below as per http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010customization/thread/05c2c386-b6f3-4a4b-9641-e46d5bb3d4c2; 1) Open the parent site in SPD 2010.  2) Select "Lists and Libraries" from the left navigation pane 3) Select a list 4) In the "Views" section on the right, either open an existing view (e.g. AllItems.aspx) or create a new view. 5) In SPD page editor, click on the view. 6) In the Ribbon UI, go to List View Tools -> Web Part tab 7) Click "To Site Gallery" from "Save Web Part" section. 8) Give it a name and description (e.g. "ParentA") 9) Click "Yes" when the message pops up.  This ensures that the web part will point to the original source (i.e. main site) 10) In the browser, go to your subsite 11) Edit the page, insert web part through the browser ribbon. 12) Go to Miscellaneous section, and select the web part you saved. I have found if the document library is set to 'Allow Management of Content Types' the web part added to the child site will fail with the below error "Value does not fall within the expected range".
