Introducing NuPack Package Manager

Posted By:      Posted Date: November 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

NuPack is a free open source developer focused package manager intent on simplifying the process of incorporating third party libraries into a .NET application during development. After several months of work, the Outercurve Foundation (formerly CodePlex Foundation) today announced the acceptance of the NuPack project to the ASP.NET Open Source Gallery. This is another contribution to the foundation by the Web Platform and Tools (WPT) team at Microsoft. Also be sure to read Scott Guthrie's announcement post and Scott Hanselman's NuPack walkthrough. There's also a video interview with me on Web Camps TV where I talk about NuPack. Just to warn you, the rest of this blog post is full of blah blah blah about NuPack so if you're a person of action...(read more)

Introducing NuPack Package Management for .NET - Another piece of the Web Stack

Microsoft's been filling out the Web Stack with more and more right-sized LEGO pieces lately, and today ScottGu announced the developer preview of NuPack . It's a piece of the stack that's been notably missing for years and after using it for a while now, I'm not sure how I lived without it. NuPack is a package management system for .NET. The goal of NuPack is to make the process of incorporating third party libraries into your solutions as simple as possible. Package Management itself is not a new concept. From Apt and "deity" before it at the system-level on *nix, to Ruby Gems, Maven, Synaptic, portage, dpkg, rpm and others, it's a well understood space. There are package managers for operating systems that install...(read more)

Web Security: Part 2: Introducing the Web Application Manager, Client Authentication Options, and Pr

This article, the second of two parts, continues coverage of Web security for Windows. It introduces the Web Application Manager in IIS that allows Web processes to be isolated, decreasing the security risk associated with running in a logon session. The article then picks up where Part One left off-it discusses authentication methods such as basic authentication, digest authentication, integrated Windows authentication, and anonymous logons, and the benefits and drawbacks of each.

browser gives jibberish when State manager (sql) is turned on

Hi all, we're testing our web app with a state manager so that we can do distributed rollouts. We're not getting any errors, but we are getting jibberish returned for every page request.

(it won't even let me paste it in here)

HOw do I get it to serve the pages normally?

Thanks!

Problems posting to a package

Hey Y'all

I'm currently creating a program that accesses a mysql package to add data to a few tables.  I'm currently getting an error that says  "

ORA-01403: no data found
ORA-06512: at "JESSE.PKG_WORKPLAN", line 42
ORA-06512: at "JESSE.PKG_WORKPLAN", line 177
ORA-06512: at line 1

"

These lines are

42: INSERT INTO WP_PROJECTS_USERS (PROJECT_USERS_ID, FIELD_UNIT_ID, PROJECT_ID, USER_ID, START_DATE, DESCRIPTION)

and 177:add_team_members(V_PROJECT_ID, V_START_DATE, v_FISC_YEAR, V_MEMBERS ,V_NUM_MEMBERS,'add');

Checking these variables in my asp.net page they are all receiving parameters.

Is there a  way to see what the database is actually receiving from the asp.net page?

Or is there another thing to be looking at?

Thanks!

SMTP not working if I use web deployment package to deploy my app.

Hi all

I use msdeploy to install my web app. deployment package. everything about web app works, but find out email was not working.

I checked telnet smtp is running.

I debug the project, and it was sending out email too.

So my solution was upload the whole project (not complied) to wwwroot, and email works too. Thats why I assume the deployment cause the problem.

at last, I also tried to copy the web deployment web.config to replace the project's web.config, and the email also work, so it wasn't the web.config problem.

Could anyone tell me whats going on?
