WCF client, svcutil and SOAP array problem

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

Hi, everyone. I hope someone will be able to help me about this issue:
I am trying to generate WCF client by issuing following command:
svcutil testingWsdl.wsdl /ser:XmlSerializer (/ser option has nothing with problem, I've just tried with it also)
I am getting following error:

Error: Cannot import wsdl:portType
Detail: An exception was thrown while running a WSDL import extension: System.ServiceModel.Description.XmlSerializerMessageContractImporter
Error: The datatype 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/:Array' is missing.

Here is complete WSDL:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<definitions xmlns="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/"
<import namespace="soap" location="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/"/>
 <portType name="SoapInPort">

Problem to obtain client IP on web service

I'm having problems to obtain the client IP on web service. Here's my scenario:

One server with Windows 2003, hosting the web service using .Net Framework 2.0, with IP and host name ServerTransaction.
Other server with Windows 2003, hosting a web application using .Net Framework 2.0, that consuming the web service on  ServerTransaction, with IP and host name ServerApplication.
Many other computers on the local network (IPs:,,, ...) acessing the web application on ServerApplication.

On the code of the web service I've tried to use HttpContext.Current.Request.UserHostAddress or HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR") or HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FORR"), but always I can only get the IP of ServerApplication (

Any idea or tip?

Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

SOAP: Using ATL Server to Build an Asynchronous SOAP Client in Unmanaged C++

SOAP opens up a new world of Web Services, letting you make function calls across a network or the Internet. But this flexibility creates new problems when your app needs to wait for calls to return from halfway around the world. What you need is an asynchronous SOAP client that takes advantage of threading to continue execution while waiting for calls over the wire. This article covers the basics of building such a client with ATL.

Deserializing Problem when build proxy by svcutil from WSDL

Hi, I got a WSDL from a third-party company and have to build a proxy to fetch data. I used svcutil *.wsdl to generate code and config file. Using the proxy I wondered why I got unexpected results: The return value is alway 0 and the string field CTWS_ReturnMsg always empty even if the server sent values. Could anybody help me? Here the WSDL and afterwards the http-traffic (from Wireshark): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <wsdl:definitions xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/" xmlns:tm="http://microsoft.com/wsdl/mime/textMatching/" xmlns:soapenc="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:mime="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/mime/" xmlns:tns="http://CEITONWebService.org/" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:soap12="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap12/" xmlns:http="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/http/" xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/" targetNamespace="http://CEITONWebService.org/">     <wsdl:types>         <xs:schema xmlns="http://CEITONWebService.org/" xmlns:mstns="http://CEITONWebService.org/" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:tns="http://CEITONWebService.org" targetNamespace=&q

Soap Extensions loading on host only, none on client

I have soap extensions enabled in my web config, but they only intercept the soap messages at the host (AfterSerialize, BeforeDeserialize).  How can I get the client (BeforeSerialize, AfterDeserialize) extensions to kick off?  I have the client and host in the same project.  My web config is as follows: <webServices>       <soapExtensionTypes>         <add type="SoapDisplayExtension.SoapDisplayExtension, SoapDisplayExtension" priority="1" group="High"/>       </soapExtensionTypes>       <protocols>         <remove name="HttpGet" />         <remove name="HttpPost" />         <remove name="Documentation" />       </protocols>     </webServices>

Need help in reading Soap request and response on invoking WCF client assembly

Hi All,   I'm new to WCF and i'm using .Net 3.5. I have created a library from the proxy class generated through svcutil. I'm able to succesfully invoke service methods. I was wondering how to capture the request and response soap xmls so that i could render it on browser. If you have any code piece for this kind of problem please share it with me. Regards, Rahul

Seeing the SOAP request sent from a Web Service Client/Consumer

Hello, I am building a web service consumer in C# in VS2010.  Using the provided WSDL, I need to build appropriate headers and use certificates, SSL (user name & pass), & WS security.  I am getting an error from the webservice side, specifically processing the <wsse:Security> header. Is it possible for me to see the exact request I am sending to the Webservice? I'd like to see the values of the pieces of the header that get put in and such. Is it possible to have human readable serialization of what's being passed in right before the error? Thank You

Sending Array of Custom Class over WCF Problem

I have been attempting to convert some service calls that returned a DataSet into something more lightweight. For instance, I am converting: [OperationContract] public DataSet GetCommittees(); into: [OperationContract] public List<VolunteerCommittee> GetCommittees(); where committee is defined as: [DataContract] public class VolunteerCommittee { [DataMember] public int Id { get; set; } [DataMember] public String Name { get; set; } } I copied the structure of the data contract and the operation contract right from an example in a book I bought on WCF. The author mentioned that the List<VolunteerCommittee> would get converted into an array over the wire, so the client's operation contract looks like: [OperationContract] public VolunteerCommittee[] GetCommittees(); My problem: When the service is called, an empty array is returned every time. When I put trace statements in, I see an array of 48 VolunteerCommittees leaving the server. I've done some reading on the problem and tried a number of suggestions, such as using the XmlSerializer attribute, including a certain namespace as a [return:] on the server's contract, changing the type of binding (it's using wsHttpBinding... I tried basicHttpBinding) and turning off MTOM in the behavior, but none of these changed the empty result of the call. At this point, I'm hoping someone can shine some light on

REST and SOAP headers problem

Hi!   I'm trying to expose a service and, particularly, an operation that has an input that has been "tagged" as [MessageHeader]. When I try to run the service, I'm given an InvalidOperationException.    The full message is: Operation 'X' in contract 'Y' uses a MessageContract that has SOAP headers. SOAP headers are not supported by the None MessageVersion.   Unfortunately that MessageContract has to use headers so I haven't got the possibility to "dispose" the headers altogether. Does anyone know how I can correctly expose my service to both a SOAP and Web client (btw, I've already tried the "How to: Expose a Contract to SOAP and Web Clients" in the MSDN documentation) under these circumstances?   Thanks in advance!

Problem registering client side script to interact with AJAX controls

Im using some animationExtenders in my project. The thing is, the objects to be animated are created programmatically, hence i need to also build programmatically the javascript code that will interact with them.It runs properly but, when i interact with these animated controls and the javascript functions are supposed to get to work, i keep getting the usual run-time error saying that the javascript functions are not defined. But, if i check the final html code generated, i can see how all the controls i built programmatically are there ,as well as the script.Tried both RegisterStartupScript and RegisterClientScriptBlock, no luck.Any advice? thanks in advance

Problem with custom onBeginRequest-Handler on client-side when partial postback is triggered from ja

Hi, I have a Modal Dialog with a Ribbon, which starts a long running serverside operation. To inform the user about the progress, I implemented Dino Espositos "Progress Monitor Framework", which worked perfectly (after some work) - at least when I trigger the partial postback from a control inside the UpdatePanel used for displaying the progress. In this approach custom onBeginRequest and onEndRequest-Handlers are used to start and stop displaying the current status of the serverside operation. When I start the operation from a Button on the ribbon by doing "something" with the mentioned control via javascript the serverside operation is started, but my onBeginRequestHandler ist not called and the progress monitor is not "switched on" on the client. Here is what I´m doing in my javascript :  function pageLoad() { progressManager = new VCSharePoint.MultiEdit.Progress(); // Remove existing handlers Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().remove_beginRequest(onBeginRequest); Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().remove_endRequest(onEndRequest); // Register handlers for UpdatePanel client events Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_beginRequest(onBeginRequest); Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequest(onEndRequest); } // onBeginRequest() // Called w
