Can you delay making a control active for a certain amount of time?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I have created an Orientation Form with several views using buttons to change views for users to go in and read the material. What I would like to do is force a user to remain in a certain module(view) for a certain period time before a button would show to go back to the main page of the form. This would force someone from just going in and going back to check off they have completed it. Currently right now when a user goes in and reads the material the button is there that says "Return to Orientation" upon that button press it set the fields value to activate the completed check box and checks it.  Can this be done with just rules or will this require code?

What I was thinking was creating a hidden field with the current time when the entrance button is pressed then some how writing a rule to wait however many minutes to set another field to activate the button. But thats where I'm stumped don't know what the logic is to write the rule.

Active X Control slow to load first time

Hi

I have an Active X control, which when first called or loaded in my asp.net application, is really slow to load. However, after the first load, it is really quick!!

My question is this, "How do I make my Active X control, when first called, load much faster? Is there away to preload the active x to the page so when it is used or called, it doesn't take so long to load?"

I have checked to see whether my active x is being called correctly by my javascript code, and it does. All my Active X does is to make a call to Outlook and to set some user properties. Not much.

Please help, but it has been doing my head in for days.

Custom Control Design-Time SiteMap Provider Error

Greetings - I was referred here by MSDN forums hope this is the right place -

I have a custom control (:WebControl) that renders web.sitemap in a specific way. While it runs error free and produces the expected result, at Design-Time it complains

Error Creating Control - MyControl The provider 'AspNetXmlSiteMapProvider' specified for the defaultProvider does not exist in the providers collection.

I have discovered that the error is cause by this line of code:

string div = string.Format("<div class='{0}' id='{1}'>{2}</div>", this.CssClass, this.ID.ToString(), EnumerateNodesRecursive(SiteMap.RootNode, level));

or more specifically, by the reference to SiteMap.RootNode - I am not clear what is missing thoough because I have configured the SiteMapProvider in web.config as this:

<siteMap>
      <providers>
        <clear/>
        <add name="AspNetXmlSiteMapProvider"
             type="System.Web.XmlSiteMapProvider, System.Web, Version=2.0.3600.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a"
             siteMapFile="web.sitemap"
             securityTrimmingEnabled="true"/>
      </providers>
    </s

For a control which events are raised at design-time, run-time or both?

Hi. I have been getting several different errors on the my windows forms designer. I'm trying to implement an application with some complexity on the screen navigating since it includes several main views as also sub-views in which the sub-views are represented by user controls. I believe that some of my errors are related to the fact that I miss important information related the events that are raised while working in the windows forms designer. Is there any link that includes information about the events of a control that are raised at design-time, run-time or both? For example, if I override the OnLoad() method of a User Control, that method will be executed both at design-time and run-time. Knowing about this information has helped me resolving an issue related to duplication of columns on a customized DataGridView. Not 100% sure if it's possible to obtain what I'm asking for or if this information exists. If this information is not available what could I do in order to understand in more detail the kind of events that are raised in the design-time vs run-time? Can I debug an application in design-time using Visual C# 2008 Express Edition? I found this link that helps identifying the run-time and the design mode: http://dotnetfacts.blogspot.com/2009/01/identifying-run-time-and-design-mode.html This link has been helpful but I still feel that I need more information.

Make a T-SQL Query Sleep for a certain amount of time

At times, in test scenarios, you may want to emulate that a transaction or a T-SQL query takes 'x' amount of time. Well that is possible (although not with precision) in SQL Server (2005/2008) using the WAITFOR command.

Active Directory Authentication with Login Control ASP.Net 3.5 or 4

Hello, I am trying to follow instructions on how to create a login page that tests against active directory.  My issue is all of the tutorials seem to be written for ASP.NET 2.0.  When I try to follow them I cannot get them to work.  Does anyone have any tutorial or information for .NET 3.5 or 4.0?

Thanks

Storing signed documents and making time-based triggers

My boss wants me to create a workflow in SP 07 that will accomplish the following:

1.  Have a list of documents (mix of .pdf, .xls, and .doc) a new customer must e-sign (e-sign is already implemented).  Signed documents will then be archived under that customer's name so that an employee can select their name from a list to review the docs.

2.  Automatically create triggers that will email or notify managers when that customer has been with us for 30 days and 60 days.

I've watched quite a few videos on SP workflows and document management, but I haven't got a grasp on the best way to go about this, so I have a few questions:

1.  Can I achieve these requirements by using out-of-the-box workflows or other SP features?  Or will this require using creating a custom WF from VS or SPDesigner?  If creating a custom WF in VS is required, I am proficient with c#, so coding won't be an issue.

2.  How best approach this?  No need to go into great detail (unless you want to).  A high-level overview of what features and steps you would use would help out tremendously.

Thanks in advance.

WebBrowser control scrollbars not active in certain pages

And when the page loads both scrollbars are not active(i can't use them), i mean i have to click on one of the scrollbars and then they become active. It works ok with other websites ofcourse, does anyone know what's wrong? IE for example doesn't have that problem with this website. Also i can't use the mouse scroll. I have to click somewhere in the page and then the mouse scroll and the scrollbars becomes active.
