Visual Studio 2010 & Asp.NET Configuration Tool not working together

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi!

I am running VS2010 and trying to make the asp.net configuration tool to work.

The problem is: when I click on in in the menu, the server goes up but nothing happens.

If I type the url (localhost:port) in the browser, I get the following error:

Server Error in '/asp.netwebadminfiles' Application.

HTTP Error 404 - Not Found.

and if I copy and paste the /asp.netwebadminfiles to the url (localhost:port/asp.netwebadminfiles), the page loads with the following message:

" An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again. "

I've looked in the event log, but no error message.

Could anyone help out me with it?

Thanks!

Working with different versions of AjaxControlToolkit in Visual Studio 2010

When working with different versions of AjaxControlToolkit , Visual Studio 2010 contains some interesting improvements compared to previous versions of Visual Studio. When adding a particular version of AjaxControlToolkit controls (or other similar third-party controls) to the toolbox using the Choose Toolbox Items dialog, we now show the version number of the control that is being added. Figure 1 Once various versions of these AjaxControlToolkit (ACT) controls such as ACT 3.0 and ACT 4.0 are added to the toolbox in separate tabs (one tab per version), o nly the latest applicable version of the ACT controls will display as visible in the toolbox. This reduces confusion when different versions of ACT are present. The version number of the control...(read more)

Stored Procedure stopped working in Visual Studio 2010; System.Data.SqlClient disabled?

Hi,

In Visual Studio 2010, I have a webform, with a button that attempts to manipulate a SQL table that has a lot of data (several years & archives of 12 people's emails: emailID, bodies, to, cc, bcc, date/time).  Problem has always been that with so many emails (500,000), I had to break up the manipulation jobs a bit, or VisualStudio/ASP.Net development server would freeze up running those SQL stored procedures.

So I determined, for each (.pst) email store, a unique series that was in each emailID - for instance, person A would have 00000195195xxxxx as their emailIDs, and person B would have 00000123456xxxxxx as their email IDs - and used those 30 [or so] identifying flags to recursively call a function that until yesterday was running my SQL stored procedures just fine.

YEsterday, while that was running, for giggles, I rebuilt the index on my table, and freaked out the development server by accident.  I had to rollback the database using SQL Server Management Studio, or the database was "Suspect".

Now, my SQL Stored Procedure in that recursively called function won't run, despite the fact that the original SQL Query [that gets the identifying flags into a Datatable, and runs the sproc on each "row"] works just fine.

I think it's a setting, to protect me ... but can't

ASP.NET 4 and Visual Studio 2010 Web Development Beta 2 Overview

Many exciting changes for ASP.NET are coming in the .NET Framework version 4. This document gives an overview of many of the new features that are included in the Beta 2 release of the .NET Framework 4 and of Visual Studio 2010.

Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2

This is a big deal. This isn't ".NET 3.6" - there are a lot of improvements of .NET 4, and it's not just "pile on a bunch of features so you get overwhelmed." I've been working with and talking to many of the teams involved and even though it's a cheesy thing to say, this is a really customer-focused release.

ASP 4 - Whirlwind Tour around .NET 4 (and Visual Studio 2010) Beta 1

There's a lot of stuff that's new and added in .NET 4, but not in that "overwhelming-I-need-to-relearn-everything" way. More in that, "oh, this is way easier/simpler now" way. Like, moving data around with ADO.NET DataServices is easy, binding with client templates is easy, there's F# if you need it, the "dynamic" keyword if you need it, Silverlight's already installed, oh, and the parallel stuff will freak you out, but in a good way.

Short Overview of SharePoint Features in Visual Studio 2010

As you probably know, Visual Studio 2010 was announced earlier this week and it contains a lot of cool features and project templates for SharePoint developers. Below is a short overview for some of the SharePoint development related features and project templates.

About Dynamic Data in Visual Studio 2010 / .NET 4

Ref.http://aspnet.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Dynamic%20Data&referringTitle=Home&ProjectName=aspnet

Does anybody here have any pointers to screencasts, demos, webcasts for the latest enhancements in Dynamic Data as listed in above link? I'm repeating them here for ready reference :

  • EnableDynamicData method which enables Dynamic Data features in existing ASP.NET applications and DataSource controls
  • A new QueryExtender control, contained in the sample projects to simplify common data filtering operations. It supports a rich ASP.NET declarative query syntax that makes it easy to do things like search data for text or have filters based on ranges
  • A new Dynamic Data filter model that enables the developers to apply templates to pages just like field templates (including user defined filters)
  • New field templates of Email, URL and Enum columns
  • Support for inheritance in Entity Framework and Linq to SQL
  • Support for many to many relationships in Entity Framework
  • New Entity Templates which allow fine control over how an object is displayed and edited
  • DynamicHyperLink control for building links to tables and actions
  • Declarative support for D
