How to replace path in SQL script based on OS language?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I have a sql script to attach my DB as follows:

(FILENAME = 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\myDB\mydb.mdf')

(FILENAME = 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\myDB\mydb_log.ldf')

Now I want to run this script on a computer installed with a German OS but SQL Server installation is English. do I have to make a different script for each language replacing the DB location folder. Because 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data' in english is not the same in German. Is something similar to Environment.SpecialFolder.CommonApplicationData available in SQL?

.NET GUI Bliss: Streamline Your Code and Simplify Localization Using an XML-Based GUI Language Parse

While Windows Forms in .NET has lots of cool features, if you're used to MFC, there are a couple of things you'll find missing, like doc/view, command routing, and UI update. The .NET answer to this is a code generator that writes new code for every single element. But there's a better way. In this article, Paul DiLascia shows how to develop an XML-based GUI language parser for .NET that lets you code resources, menus, toolbars, and status bars in XML instead of with procedural code. He also shows how a user interface based on XML can easily be localized using standard .NET techniques, and introduces his very own library, MotLib.NET, with lots of GUI goodies for your programming pleasure.

JS script file path screwed up after deploying MVC application

Hi,  I am relatively new to MVC, after deploying my MVC application as per Haack http://haacked.com/archive/2008/11/26/asp.net-mvc-on-iis-6-walkthrough.aspx i seem to have got a new problem. My Jquery doesnt seem to get recognized. I get "object doesnt support this property or method " at this line "jQuery(document).ready(function() {" i have tried all sort of things including changing the js script file path to relative and absolute, setting base tag etc. Kindly advice if the above method of deploying is right and if that is what is causing the issue and if there is some other way to handle the .mvc requests.   Thanks and Regards, Muzammil Ahmed

Activate Language on more Site Collection with Script

Hi, I installed three Language Pack on a Sharepoint Server 2010, runned SPCONFIGUI.EXE and all work fine. Now I have to activate it for some existing Site Collections, so user can select the display Language. Will a Powershell or stsadm command allow me to do that in a script ? or must I change every Sites Settings manually ? (ca. 150 SC's !) Thanks

Client Script Replace Problem with .NET 4.0 ScriptManager

I want to replace the WebUIValidation.js client script (located in System.Web assembly) with my own custom script using the new script replacement features in .NET 4.0.

The replacement works fine in a simple sample form I created, but in my much more complicated wizard form it fails.  On partial post-back the ScriptManager writes the System.Web version to the browser and I end up with both Microsoft's version and my version of the script in the browser. Since the System.Web version loads last, it replaces my custom script.

I am using the ToolkitScriptManager intead of the ScriptManager everywhere. The form that needs the replacement has dynamically created controls (including the validation controls) and has several control extenders based on the AjaxControlToolkit.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be going wrong, or have any ideas on a workaround for this?

Any help will be appreaciated,

Microsoft's Collaborative Application Markup Language (CAML) Loop

discovered an interesting error recently while working with Microsoft's Collaborative Application Markup Language (CAML) that, surprisingly, had received no ink. Partly what surprises me about this is that the error may require you to rewrite large sections of your code if you haven't previously considered this SharePoint limitation. I'll start with some context, but first of all the error is:

5 GridView Themes Based on Google's Personalized Homepage (igoogle)

One of the silly features I have found that I like about igoogle is how the pages color palette changes depending upon the time of day. So as the day progresses from morning to afternoon to evening the colors on the page change as well. Like I said, I know this is a silly feature, but I like it. And I have asked around a little bit and seems like other people like it to. To get a better idea of how the colors change, here are the background images from a few of the HTML elements.

Rendering ASP.NET Script References into the Html Header

One thing that I've come to appreciate in control development in ASP.NET that use JavaScript is the ability to have more control over script and script include placement than ASP.NET provides natively. Specifically in ASP.NET you can use either the ClientScriptManager or ScriptManager to embed scripts and script references into pages via code.

How to Localize Windows Forms and Change the Language at Runtime

Localization is the process of customizing your application to a particular language, culture or locale. Visual Studio provides support for localizing Windows Forms with much ease. In this article, we will see how to localize windows forms and give the user the ability to change to his preferred language at runtime.
When you run a localized application, the appearance is determined by two culture values. The UICulture property is used to specify which resource files will be loaded for the form. The Culture property, on the other hand, determines how strings such as dates, numerals, and currency amounts are formatted.
Let us see the steps required to create a localized form. You can then expand this example and adopt the same approach for the rest of the forms in your project

Voice eXtensible Markup Language

This document specifies VoiceXML, the Voice Extensible Markup Language. VoiceXML is designed for creating audio dialogs that feature synthesized speech, digitized audio, recognition of spoken and DTMF key input, recording of spoken input, telephony, and mixed-initiative conversations. Its major goal is to bring the advantages of web-based development and content delivery to interactive voice response applications.

dynamically adding sql server columns based on number of files in fileuploader

I want to create a new table to sql database at runtime.  The column names would be "Name", "Date", "Event".  I would also like to have one more column name "Image" but the problem is that since the amount of images will vary, I want the application to count the amount of files in the Multiple fileuploader and then add a image column to the table for the respected amount of files.

For example if i am uploading 3 files in the multiple fileuploader, the names should be "Name", "Date", "Event", "Image1", "image2", Image3"

I also would like that table name to be name dynamically from the textbox Name when the user enters the information.

I have the following code to make a new table, but I dont know how to name the fields at runtime like previously asked please help!!!

Dim objConn As New SqlConnection("Server=<servername>;uid=<userid>;pwd=<password>;database=master")

Unique content within master page based on conditions met

 Hi all-

I would like to present users with unique content based on certain conditions being met as they land on the home page (default.aspx).  The condition logic will be in the VB code behind Page Load event. The content will go in a content placeholder as specificed from the master page.

However, the content change wouldn't be something small (ie making a panel or label visible or not) but rather it will be different HTML,  Divs and databound gridview content.  The HTML content will be stored in the database.

Can someone point me in the right direction for best practices on how to accomplish this?
