How to uninstall XML 6 SP2 from XP

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

My company needs to find a solution for the very often SQL Server 2005 installation issues related to XML 6. We are trying to find an automatic way to detect and fix XML issues during our software installation and before the SQL installation without any user interaction - we know that MSICUU2.exe can handle it but we need a solution without the user having to run it manually.

What we have come with is that we want to ALWAYS uninstall XML 6 and re-install it. We can use Windows Installer to do that, but if XML 6 is corrupt it won't work. So we need to find how MSICUU2.exe works and uninstalls XML 6 properly when Windows Installer cannot do it. OR we need to run MSICUU2.exe in the background and uninstall XML 6, but I'm not sure if that is possible.

So, do you know how to properly and completely uninstall XML 6? Or do you know how to run MSICUU2.exe with command line to find only and always XML 6 and uninstall it?

Thank you,

SQL Server 2008 Uninstall

I am running SQL Server 2008 on VISTA. I am having problems with SSIS components tha need to run in 32-bit.  It was recommended to unistall 2008 and re-install 2005.  However, trying to uninstall 2008 is causing my machine to freeze half-way through the process.  Before I tried to unistall I tried to repair and it also caused my screen to freeze (I issued a hard-shut down of my machine).  Now I am not sure what is happending.  How can I fix this?

Cant uninstall Framework Language Pack on Windows 7 Professional

Hi,I have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed on a Windows 7 Professional that has been upgraded from a Windows Vista business. I have a Danish Language Pack installed (Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Language Pack SP1 - Danish). This was installed under Vista. Now I have upgraded to Windows 7 Professional where that language pack is unsupported apparantly. I'm trying to get help in a Windows 7 forum to change the OS language but it seems to fail because multiple MUI's is unsupported in Windows 7 Professional. So I hope someone here can help me remove the Language Pack or something like that...When I try to uninstall or reinstall the Language Pack I get an error saying that the OS isn't supported. What I want is to have my exceptions in English - not Danish. I cannot remove the Framework Language Pack using "Windows Installer Clean Up" because it isn't listed. How can I remove this language pack? Or alternatively instruct the Framework to give me Exceptions in the "en-US" localization?--

SQL Server 2008 Installation / Uninstall failed: Error 1603

Hello! I've been trying to install the SQL Server 2008 CTP 5.0 on a Windows Server 2008. The installation failed and left the shared components installed but the database engine was missing. So I tried to roll back the installation and stumbled upon the problem again. Cannot uninstall SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer from Vista 32 bit SP2

Hi, I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer and I now wish to go back to an earlier configuration (2008) but I cannot uninstall it. I do have Visual Studio 2008 and 2010 installed (with their instance of SQLEXPRESS), is this blocking the total removal of SQL Server 2008 or is their another issue here? The uninstall reports that all worked fine. Thanks for your help, Bex

Can't Uninstall SQL Server 2005 Express Tools

I am attempting to install SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Trial and receive the follow error during installation.

"The SQL Server 2005 Express Tools are installed. To continue, remove the SQL Server 2005 Express Tools."

I have used Add or Remove programs to remove all components of SQL Server 2005 Express.  I have even reinstalled the Workstation Tools of SQL Server 2005 just so I could indiviually remove those tools, and then completly removed the SQL 2005 installation.

I have used regedit to search for any instance of SQL Server 2005, there is none.

There is still an entry for SQL Server Mangement Express in my all programs listing.  However trying to launch that program fails with errors, so it is partial still installed.

Can anyone tell me how to wipe out these last bits of SQL Server 2005 Express Tools?  I have tried everything I have found searching this forum to no avail.

Cant uninstall SQL Server 2005 express

Please help...

I cant uninstall SQL server 2005 express. I will try to make this as un confusing as I can. I installed a program called SRS that has a SQL 2005 express install as part of it. It would not run after install, so we tried to uninstall it and the SQL server wont uninstall. It says "ARP wrapper registry enumeration failed. " If I try to install SQL server 2005 express again without uninstalling it, it gives me a 1603 error.

Is there a way to get SQL off my darn server without having to rebuild the OS? It is on server 2008 R2. It is driving me insane. I already tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909967 and it didnt work. Does any one know if there is a registry key that holds the info so you cant uninstall it or re install it? My next course of action is wipe the DC and start over. Very time consuming. I am hoping to avoid this. I hate how microsoft buries this stuff so you cant find it. Or, with my brain power, I cant find it. :)

Thanks in advance.
