We have a newSAN raid 5 array which I am moving some of our databases too. Is there any benefit to moving the nonclustered indexes to a separate file group than the data files even though they will still be on the same disks/lun's on the san SAN?
I could see the benefit if the SAN was zoned where we had separate disks allocated so that I could move the index filegroup to different disks than the data files, but that does not appear to be an option. Running SQL 2005 standard, dual quad core
with 24 gig of RAM. Thanks!
