Problem setting up approve/reject settings in Absence Request and Vacation Management Template

Hi I have recently installed and set up the absence request and vacation management template in SharePoint Services 3.0 and all seems to be going reasonably well apart from one hitch. I have edited the setup workflow so that manager is sent an email on request, employee is sent an email on approval/rejection and payroll are sent an email on approval for their records. However, even though the Personal Vacation option in the Absence Type list is set to Yes for Approval Required, the workflow is automatically sending out the email to say their annual leave has been approved as soon as they request it. Has anyone come across this before or know where I may be going wrong? Thanks for any help you can give. Jo

How to create a calculation in a list - Calculate the number of days between two dates

I have a calculated column in a list called Days Open. This column contains the number of days between today (Sysdate) and another column called the Effective Date. Therefore, if Sysdate is 11/16/2010 and the Effective Date is 10/14/2010, how do I calculate the number of days between the two dates?

I tried using this formula: =TEXT(Sysdate-[Effective Date],"h") and then I tried =INT(Sysdate-Effective Date) & TEXT(Sysdate-Effective Date, ":hh:mm")

Neither formula worked. I hope it is something real simple that I am missing here. Any help you can provide will be highly appreciated!

Write Custom WebParts for SharePoint 2007

The popularity of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 led Microsoft to tightly integrate the next SharePoint version, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, with its ASP.NET 2.0 WebPart framework. This tight integration enables the ASP.NET and SharePoint developer to do a number of things that previously weren't possible

Force password expiration after x days

Using C# and sqlmembershipprovider forms authentication, is there a way to force user password to expire and need to be reset after x number of days?

So if a user launches the website login.aspx page, when they type their userid, it will check if the password is expired and direct them to a Resetpassword.aspx page?

The problem seems to be that our administrators grant access to specific portals / folders and then without warning or any actions from our part the next week access is disabled

How to add days in date using javascript

<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">

function check()
var myDate = new Date();
var vFormat="MM/dd/yyyy";
var vDay                = addZero(myDate.getDate());
var vMonth            = addZero(myDate.getMonth()+1);
var vYearLong         = addZero(myDate.getFullYear());
var vYearShort        = addZero(myDate.getFullYear().toString().substring(3,4));
var vYear             = (vFormat.indexOf("yyyy")>-1?vYearLong:vYearShort)

myDateString           = myDateString.replace(/hh/g, vHour).replace(/mm/g, vMinute).replace(/ss/g, vSecond)

function addZero(vNumber){

pre populating webparts

i m wanting to know if it is possible to pre populate content within a webpart so the user only has to add the web part to the page, and not make any configurations changes.

What i am trying to achieve is with the image web part and pre loading this with an image which is hyper linked to another of our systems

Could you let me know if this is possible and if so how i go about doing this.

user control derived from System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts only fires its OnPreRender and CreateCh

 I have a application which uses webparts.

So my user controls are derived from System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts which makes them webparts.

I have everything setup and working fine as far as the personalization and webpart goes... every thing displays and works fine.

Except that 1 of my control needs to do a bit of work in the OnPreRender event and it turns out that event only gets fired when a user is loged in the application.

So lets imagine that an administrator while logged in switched to 'Sharedscope' within the webpartmanager and then has added the usercontrol/webpart 'calendar' to the top webpart zone. This then makes the 'calendar' control viewable by all and any user who visits the page wheter logged in or anonymous.

And this works fine and very well as it is supposed to. However in the 'Calendar' user control which is derived from System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts I have an overiden 'OnPreRender' event like this:

Protected Overrides Sub OnPreRender(ByVal e As EventArgs)

If Not Me.DesignMode Then

Me.isloaded = True

' Test for ScriptManager and register if it exists

sm = ScriptManager.GetCurrent(Page)

If sm Is Nothing Then _

Throw New HttpException("A ScriptManager control must exist on the current page.")

month days in gridview

 Hello all,

I have a challenge of which I can't figure out how to achieve it.

at this moment I have a gridview that can be dynamicly filled with cell's based upon the number of items selected (throug a drop down list) by a user.

the user then can enter some values in the cells to perform a bulk insert.

What I rather want is that the user selects a month, like august, and then  the gridview is filled with the amount of days from that month, so you get 31 cells in the gridview. second all the first cells should be filled with the daynumber for that day...

I hope the explanation is clear :)

Does anyone know a solution to this?

select records within 30 days of previous records

I have a table with a list of patient id's and there begin date and end dates as follows: ID     begin_date  end_date 1234 10/09/2009 10/16/2009 1234 12/16/2009 12/22/2009 1234 12/28/2009 12/30/2009 1234 01/13/2010 01/19/2010 1234 04/29/2010 05/05/2010 what i need to do is select the records that have an end_date within 30 days of a begin_date. So in the above example, i would need to get the following records: ID     begin_date   end_date 1234 12/28/2009   12/30/2009 1234 01/13/2010   01/19/2010 Because 12/28/2009 is 30 days within 12/22/2009 (previous end_date) and 01/13/2010 is within 30 days of 12/30/2009 (previous end_date) and 12/22/2009 (2nd previous end_date). is there a good way to do this using T-SQL?
