Server-side validation on an Entity Framework required field (property) does not work!

Has anyone had issues getting server-side validation on an Entity Framework required field (property) to work? The data type is a string (nvarchar). Server-side validation for required fields of other data types WORK fine. Only string fields have issues. I get the following error on UpdateModel(obj); of my POST method within the controller. Exception Details: System.Data.ConstraintException: This property cannot be set to a  null value.Source Error: Line 4500:                OnTextChanging(value);Line 4501:                ReportPropertyChanging("Text");Line 4502:                _Text = StructuralObject.SetValidValue(value, false);Line 4503:                ReportPropertyChanged("Text");Line 4504:                OnTextChanged(); I've even tried data annotations like this but it seems to get ignored.     [MetadataType(typeof(ObjMD))]     public partial class Obj     {

Can't install program that requires .NET Framework 2.0 - & can't install 2.0 itself

I was blocked from installing an antispam program because it said I needed .NET Framework 2.0.  I already had 1.1, 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2, and 3.5 SP1.  Tried to install 2.0 from the link given, and I received an error messsage saying it conflicted with what I already had.  I figured the conflict must be with 2.0 SP2, so I uninstalled it (using Revo Uninstaller, which cleans up leftover files in the registry).  Tried again to install 2.0, but got the same error message.  What am I doing wrong?

It always displays this at start up, which is weird since it has these versions installed. Any suggestions?

The webserive is throwing the following exception every time unless I reset iis. I don't think it is machine dependent as it is happening on other machines. There is some fix for asian version and I don't think I have asian version (conime). but I tried it anyway but doesn't work. The error clears by restarting IIS on development but that is not a solution for webserver. Does anybody know how to resolve this issue? It's not memory issue as I have plenty of free memory.

Type of .NET Framework required for your application

Hi folks,

I have developed a VB.net appliction with Express which i need to distribute to other PCs. I know that these for the application to run every client machine needs to have the NET framework installed. So far so good. I have done this several times already. But with this program the automatic prerequisites were set to the full framework 4 and not only to the client version. Is there a way of knowing what part of my program causes this new need, because up to now all the programs I wrote worked fine with the client version.

I am asking this because all my colleagues have only the client version installed.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards

Chris

Does, "Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile (Web Installer)" = "Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Web

I have the 1st of the two programs (above), and wondered if I should have it (the, "Client Profile" version); or instead, should uninstall it, and download the 2nd (above), the one (without, the words "Client Profile")?  OR, are they essentially the same?  I'm an intermediate computer user but don't have alot of experience with deciphering between the types of .NET Frameworks (like the 2 above).  Anyone familiar with this area, please advise.  (P.S.:  I never actually went to the download center and downloaded the (1st) item (above).  I just noticed it is installed (under, installed programs).

Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium, 32-bit, PC desktop, cable modem, Dell Inspiron 531s.  Installed RAM= 2 GB.  Total disk (C:) space = 218 GB. (About 1/2 of this is free, and 1/2 is used).

Thanks.

If I use showdialog method in Colorpicker component., the addin program is accidently shut down.

So I made a my program as a just changing page from main to the other by using visible and collapsed.

But now. I wanna use Colorpicker. Then I need to show color picker pallete.

T_T as you know, I can't use still show dialog method..

Then how I can use it? ?

when I debugged my program, I got this below error.

Multiple database support with Entity Framework

One of the features introduced in Entity Framework is being database independent. Which mean each database provider can support Entity Framework by implementing its provider.

This feature allows you build applications independent from the underplaying database provider. In this post I'm going to show how to build an application that support multiple databases using same conceptual model made by Entity Framework.

Creating a Generic Entity Framework 4.0 Repository

With .NET 4.0 right around the corner, I thought it would be cool to download Visual Studio 2010 beta 2 and start playing around with the next release of Entity Framework.

The initial release of Entity Framework came with a great deal of criticism. To make matters worse, there was a large uproar when it was rumored that Microsoft would be abandoning LINQ to SQL, in favor of Entity Framework. This was because, at the time, many developers felt Entity Framework was an inferior technology to LINQ to SQL. To set things right, Microsoft proactively moved forward with improving Entity Framework, in time for the 4.0 release of the .NET Framework. This is good news because my initial impressions, so far, have been nothing but positive.

ASP.NET 4.0 Dynamic Data and Many to Many Entity Framework Entities

I did not play much with Dynamic Data controls in VS2008 and just made a cool discovery in VS2010 Beta 2. This may not even be new, but as I'm sitting 30,000+ feet over the Atlantic ocean, I don't have access to VS2008 at the moment to check.
