stuck with a custom panel implementation

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

Hi, I am making my own panel that needs specific layout behavior. I've got the whole attached properties thing figured out and now I've got my properties appearing in the Visual Studio properties pane. Also, when I change the property in the properties pane I see nice XML attributes being generated in my XAML. BUT what I really want is to have the XML attributes generated in the XAML following changes in the Design View (say when the control gets dragged across my custom panel). What I am still looking for is to make something like Canvas.Top or Grid.Row properties being generated, triggered from changes in the Design view.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction for this? I'm still new to WPF and I'm drowning in technical terms trying to figure it out. TIA!

.NET Remoting: Create a Custom Marshaling Implementation Using .NET Remoting and COM Interop

The .NET Framework offers several methods for customizing the presentation of native .NET and COM object types. One such technique, custom marshaling, refers to the notion of specializing object type presentations. There are times, like when a legacy COM component needs to implement a new interface or when you need to make calls across process or machine boundaries, when custom marshaling saves the day. Elements of COM Interop permit the customizing of COM types while .NET Remoting offers the developer the ability to tailor native .NET types. This article examines these techniques.

Custom panel - missing design time support for controls.

I’m trying to implement a custom panel, one that will behave kind of like the standard Canvas panel. The implementation is done and it is working when I add components in the xaml, but what is not working is move and resize of components in the designer. In the designer each component shows the ‘selected frame’ when selected, but it cannot be moved or resized. Can someone point me to what I’m missing, or an article that describes how do add this support?.   The reason I’m not deriving from the existing Canvas is mainly because I want to understand how it works and how to implement it manually.   Thanks

Custom Information Panel and content types

I am using WSS3.0 and created a CIP using infopath.  I would now like to remove the CIP and have it use the default out of box properies panel.  How do I make this change?  It appears that the CIP is associated with the content type and not the word template.  I do not see any settings in WSS3.0 to manage the panels associated with the content type.  Am I missing something?

Custom Choice Field in Document Information Panel

Hello Everybody,

I have created a custom field from SPFieldChoice. My requirement was to customize this custom field in such a way that the dropdown can show items from a specified list.This column type I created specifically for a document library meta data.

I tried to add items to the Choices collection (within the constructor). It seems working fine as I can see the dropdown populated perfectly while uploading documents. But at the same time in the Document Information Panel of the MS WORD, it is not showing properly. What happening is, the dropdown values are not "dynamic". Even if I change the values in my list, the doropdown within the DIP stays same.

Mean time, on the document upload page, it is showing dynamically.

if I remove the column and re-add, it populates again with that instantaneous list items, but remains static afterwards on the DIP.

EventHandling of custom server control that inherit Panel

I am developing a server control that inherit Panel. The form layout is fine. As a panel is a container with different types of control and trigger different types of event.  Say,

        <cc1:MyPanel ID="MyPanel1" runat="server" Width="300px" Title="Enter a new contact"
            onCanel="cmdCancel_Click" >
            <table>
                <tr>
                    <td>
                        Name
                    </td>
                    <td>
                        <asp:TextBox ID="txtName"

Custom Update Panel with jQuery

Hi,

I'm trying to develop a webcontrol that works like an UpdatePanel but with the jQuery framework instead of the 'classic' MS Ajax framework...

In this webcontrol I add a listener to the 'SaveStateComplete' so the Viewstate is 'fixed' and then I can avoid the Render phase and render only the 'panel-html' and the '__viewstate-field'...

This works very well for the first  Ajax callback.

From the second I receive the following error: "The viewstate is invalid for this page and might be corrupted".

The reason, I think, is because I have updated only  the __viewstate field while I should also update the __eventvalidation field....but I don't know where to get it (and I hope that it is not extracted during the Render phase...).

Now the question:

Is there a way to get the new __eventvalidation value in the page's life-cycle??? Or is there a way to recalculate it?? (I have tried to google for something like this but without results...).

I will appreciate any help (and any suggetion, because I 'm a newbie with Asp.Net).

Stuck: Can't publish updated form.. can't delete custom form

I have a custom list with a custom InfoPath form. I tried to update the form but when I wanted to publish I got a SOAP error. I could not resolve the issue, so I then went ahead to use the default form and delete the custom form (an option in list settings). That caused an exception. So now I am stuck. I cannot edit the current form, and I cannot delete it either. I could recreate the list and start over, but that would be a lot of work. I am also concerned about other lists. Any recommendations?

Custom Controls in C# .NET

Embedding user controls in a Windows form is just like adding a simple button or text box that are already provided with .NET. These basic controls were written essentially like you code your own controls. Typically the controls you design are to be used in multiple forms or to modularize your code. These reasons help reduce the amount of code you have to type as well as make it easier for you to change your implementation. There should almost never be any reason to duplicate code because it leaves a lot of room for bugs. So, implementing functionality specific to your control in the control's source code is a good idea. This reduces code duplication as well as modularize your code, which is a good programming guideline.

jQuery Date picker Implementation in ASP.NET

I've posted a wrapper ASP.NET around the jQuery.UI Datepickercontrol. This small client side calendar control is compact, looks nice and is very easy to use and I've added it some time back to my control library.

This is primarily an update for the jQuery.ui version, and so I spend a few hours or so cleaning it up which wasn't as easy as it could have been since the API has changed quite drastically from Marc's original implementation. The biggest changes have to do with the theming integration and the resulting explosion of related resources.

If you want to use this component you can check it out a sample and the code here:

Writing custom MembershipProvider

ASP.NET Membership mechanism allows to use the build-in server tables to store and retrieve user data. By default, this mechanism can only be used with SQL Server database to which Microsoft provides suitable MembershipProvider class.
Inheriting from this abstract class, developer can use his own table(-es) from any database and use any database engine other than SQL Server, like Oracle, DB2 etc.

Custom Editing Behavior for DataGridView TextBox Columns

For various reasons I'm using a DataGridView instead of a ListView, and while configuring the DataGridView to look like a ListView wasn't much of a problem, there's one thing that got on my nerves, which is the behavior of textbox cells in edit mode: It is much too easy to leave the edit mode accidentally, simply by pressing the cursor keys at the wrong time. For example when the text caret is positioned behind the last character of the textbox cell content, and you press the right arrow key

Write Custom WebParts for SharePoint 2007

The popularity of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 led Microsoft to tightly integrate the next SharePoint version, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, with its ASP.NET 2.0 WebPart framework. This tight integration enables the ASP.NET and SharePoint developer to do a number of things that previously weren't possible

Writing Custom Web Parts for SharePoint 2007

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, SharePoint 2007 is built on top of ASP.NET 2.0, which means you can now use ASP.NET 2.0 features (Forms Authentication, Master Pages, Membership, Site Navigation, New Data Controls, etc) when building SharePoint sites. This is true for both the new Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 version (which will be a free download) as well as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (which costs money).

Custom views on .aspx webpage

Hi again, i have a client that needs me to create a custom view on thier webpage similar to Microsoft Word.

It goes about that, when I click on an image it redirects me to another page and must create a custom view for a certain paragraph on that page. I am not sure how to do this and wonder if anyone knows how.

I am using C# programming language if that helps at all. I Heard that using javascript would work but i dont know javascript yet so is there any alternative?
