FeatureInfo... Failed SiteOrphan... Failed in SharePoint 2007 SP2 migration test

Hi All,

I've just execute the C:\>stsadm -o preupgradecheck command to check my upgrade / migration process, however it come back with the following two error: 
FeatureInfo... Failed 
SiteOrphan... Failed

how shall i proceed with the migration then ?

all of the other result seems to be fine so far.

Sharepoint Down after failed SP 2 install (2007)

The trust relationship between SharePoint 2007 Server and Domain Controller failed after virtual ima



I failed to login to my SharePoint Server 2007 since the virtual image is cloned. The trust relationship between the MOSS and DC failed since the duplication of SID occurred. I tried to unjoin and re-join the Windows Server 2008 but the server just stays at "Applying Computer Setting..." after server reboot.

Workflow "Failed on Start (retrying)" when new item created by BizTalk SharePoint Adapter


We've been using the BizTalk SharePoint Adapter to load various different contents into a MOSS 2007 Document Library. The library has a Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007 workflow (sequential workflow created in Designer) which starts automatically when a new item is added to the Document Library. Or, at least, it eventually starts automatically.


For some unknown reason--and this is what we're hoping some of you may have some ideas on--the workflow fails to start on the first try, producing the "Failed to Start (retrying)" message. When the timer job comes back the second time, the workflow starts successfully, but this causes us to loose five minutes of potential work time (not to mention making us look bad to the VPs and CTO because they see the failure message).


In checking the log, I find the following pair of error messages each time the "Failed to Start (retrying)" status occurs:

VS Studio WorkFlow Failed on Start in MOSS 2007 ON Windows Server 2008 64 Bit


I have created a sequential sharepoint workflow in WSP Builder in my Sharepoint Server and Deployed it.

But the workflows says Failed on start and retrying ans stops there forever says couldn't start the workflow.

I repaired .NET Framework 3.5sp1 installed

 tried this

 1. I tried again, in C Prompt:  Lodctr "c:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v3.0\Windows Workflow Foundation\perfcounters.ini"  it says initiation file cannot be found

2   i again tried this C prompt Lodctr /R "c:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v3.0\Windows Workflow Foundation\perfcounters.ini"

it says reloaded  from the system restored

i am still getting the same error.

When i manually go to my  C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Workflow Foundation i can see a folder for SQL that's it nothing more than that..

I dont know what is happening i am trying it from 2 days and still no solution.

any ideas would be real great help for me.

My system is 64 bit , Window server 2008, MOSS SP2, Visual Studio 2008 Version 9.0.30729.

Failed to change Farm Account in Sharepoint 2010 server, now Central Administration is not accessibl

Hello, I have a problem, that I no longer can access Central Administration Website, only the Sharepoint itself. I was running installation of Sharepoint 2010 Server with administrative account ImTheAdmin, who is a Domain Admin in the domain on one of the Windows 2008 R2 member servers. Besides that, I made ImTheAdmin the primary administrator of the Sharepoint. ImTheAdmin became the only user of this Sharepoint 2010 server after installation.  I installed everything on one box with default installation settings. I used builtin SQL server, not Standard or Enterprise. What then happened is: Using ImTheAdmin account, I opened Central Administration Website, and it said, that I need to change the Farm Account, for the account for Farm was the default one (I think it was network service). So I created a regular domain user MYDOMAIN\SharepointFarmAccount. The account name was too long to be as a Windows 2000 name, so it showed there without last 't', e.g. MYDOMAIN\SharepointFarmAccoun. I thought, Windows 2000 is long gone, so I didn't pay much attention, I think everywhere the account SID is important. I don't know if that is the real problem with my failure later, but it might be one of the reasons. Sharepoint SDK Installation - "The installation of this package failed"

I'm attempting to set up a Sharepoint development environment in a local VM. Currently I have installed: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard x64 Sharepoint Server 2010 (single server standalone) Visual Studio Professional 2010 When I try and install the SDK I get the dreaded "The installation of this package failed". I have plenty of space on the system volume. Failed to find SharePoint server when using Microsoft Transporter Suite

When attempting to migrate a Lotus Domino application into MOSS 2007 using the Microsoft Transporter Suite 2007, I get the error: "Failed to find SharePoint server for URL: http://shp7/resimport".  I have installed the Transporter Suite on the SharePoint server (Windows 2003), and am running it under an account with full SharePoint admin rights.  I fill out the Target SharePoint site and Target SharePoint list boxes as directed in the Transporter console's help.  I know the site is running, as I can see it when I use http://shp7/resimport in IE from the server.  Anybody else experience this problem?

Installing SharePoint 2010 with SQL Server 2008 - SQL Exception - Login Failed

Hello I've been trying to install SharePoint 2010 with SQL Server 2008 in my Windows Server 2008 R2 box. I've got the same error all the times. System Specifications Windows Server 2008 R2 SQL Server 2008 with SP1 SharePoint 2010 Enterprise 6GB RAM, 320GB HDD Installation Steps I followed Installed Windows Server 2008 R2 and joined it to our domain Logged in as domain administrator Installed SQL Server 2008 Selected the Local Service account for all the SQL Server 2008 services during installation Selected Mixed mode authentication Selected 'Add Current User' in all the other installation screens Installed SQL Server 2008 SP1 Installed SharePoint 2010 Selected Farm option Selected Complete Installation Tried to run the configuration wizard and got sqlexception error - login failed But i checked that the current user (domain admin) is having all the permissions. Office SharePoint - Mutual Authentication Failed. The servers password is out of date at the domain

I have a SharePoint Server 2010 site setup with SSL. (https://sitename.com) Whenever someone tries to save an Excel or Word document to the site through Save As or Save To SharePoint they get "Mutual Authentication Failed. The servers password is out of date at the domain controller". The desktop experience feature is installed and the webclient service is running. They also receive certificate is not available and if they wait a little bit or hit OK it will show the directory and not the website like on a regular http site.  

"Load Report failed " after migration of VS 2008 to VS2010 with SAP crystal reports installed

i have migrated VS 2008 application in VS2010  including crystal report. i have installed SAP crystal reports to support  crystal reports in VS 2010. how can i migrate the old reports into SAP crystal reports please suggest me.

failed to create configuration database on Sharepoint 2010 beta install under Windows 7

sharepoint configuration wizard at final step issued message as follows:

failed to create the configuration database.

an exception of type system.io.filenotfoundexception ws thrown.  additional exception informaion. could not load file or assemble 'microsoft.identity.model. version=,culture=neutral, publickeytoken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of it's dependencies. the system cannot find the file specified.

the only option was to 'finish' the wizard and exit without a successful install.

can anyone help me with diagnosing this problem.

i am running windows 7 on a dell machine and installed all the software requirements for sharepoint install. with the exception of a hotfix for sql server which when i followed the lin appeared to be updated to a more recently posted hotfix.  i downloaded this and installed successfully.


Migration from WSS 3.0 & MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010


Hi All,

I am kiran and working on some migration project.

I am stuck with some basic questions,


1. I have got couple of hudred WSS 3.0 sites

2. I have got couple of hundred MOSS 2007 Enterrprise sites

I need to migrate both the above to SharePoint Server 2010 platform.

My Question is,


1. Can I directly migrate WSS 3.0 sites to SharePoint 2010 env? Is there any need to step up to MOSS 2007 and then to SharePoint 2010? Becuase all documentations talk about migrating MOSS 2007 to SS 2010.

Your help is appreiciated.

Also can you link me to some sound help links please?






MOSS 2007 Restore Operation Failed: The specified component exists.


I have a production MOSS farm and selected to backup my content database to a share on my network so I can move its data to my development environment. I used the Sharepoint Central Administration GUI to do this backup and selected New Configuration since I didnt want to use the same config as my production server (i.e - my development environment has its own farm with different naming conventions for those servers), and then changed the name of the Database server and kept the same name as the current _SITE database in my DEV environment. The backup ran fine, but now on restoring from the backup I receive this message below:


Object portal1_SITE failed in event OnRestore. For more information, see the error log located in the backup directory. SPException: The specified component exists. You must specify a name that does not exist.

While trying to upgrade from WSS 3.0 to MOSS 2007 the process finished, but it stated that it completed with errors. Those errors seem to be causing problems within the Central Administration site. I will try outline the errors the best I can from the upgrade.log file and with the actions I've been attempting. THANK YOU in advance for any and all assistance.

Looking for guidance: Integrated SharePoint SSRS migration and upgrade from 2007 to 2010


Our existing prod farm is MOSS 07 with an integrated SSRS instance using SQL Server 2008, both on Windows Server 2003 64bit boxes. SharePoint databases are on a different SQL Server 2008 server.

I have built a new SharePoint 2010 farm on Windows Server 2008 R2 boxes, using a single SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise server as the backend for both SharePoint databases and Reporting Services (installed in Integrated mode). We are going to be using the database-attach method of upgrading our SharePoint farm.

Is there any specific guidance out there on exactly how to migrate/upgrade Reporting Services in this scenario? I've read through some of the MSDN content (How To: Migrate a Reporting Services Installation) but nothing seems to deal specifically with doing this when in Integrated mode with SharePoint. Our business heavily relies on SSRS reports in SharePoint and also shared and custom report subscriptions via email.

We do have a dev SharePoint 2010 farm in a similar configuration that I can test migration/upgrade steps. Thanks.

SharePoint Error on Configuration - Server execution failed



I'm installing a fresh copy of SharePoint 2010 Standard on a fresh install of Win Server 2008 R2.  I have 8 GB of ram installed on the server.  I run the SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard and on Step 10 of 10 it fails with the following error:

SharePoint Workflow : Failed to Start when a document is added to library from server-side object mo


When I add a document using my server-side object model code, I get an exception "The type or namespace name 'Office' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft'" in the server logs and in the library I can see the Workflow status as "Failed to Start".





Interestingly, when I add a document to the same library from sharepoint site portal, it works just fine, the workflow kicks off with the state : in-progress.

Also, I modified the task form for the Approval workflow template from SharePoint Designer using infopath.(Not sure if that be a problem as adding from portal works fine.)

What am I missing out here??
