Content Type 0x0101 doesn't exist while turning on the PublishingResources feature

I am trying to turn on the PublishingResources feature on SharePoint 2010 and I am getting following exception (copied from the log):

SharePoint 2007 - Consolidating everything as feature into WSP [Content Type, Page Layout, Pages, Ma

Hello –

Overview – We are building a Mobile Web Site using SharePoint 2007. The big screen site has been already built and we need to integrate the mobile site into same site collection of big screen –

·         The Mobile site will use the existing content types of existing big screen site

·         We will build a new custom Master page

Issue with List Definition of same base content type and deployed via same feature

I am trying to deploy two custom list definitions using only one single feature.  Below are the details of my issue.

  • Two custom list definitions
  • Each custom list definition has its own custom content type
  • Each custom content type inherits from the base content type Picture (Type = 109)
  • The custom list definitions are grouped together under one single feature
  • The custom content types are grouped together under a seperate single feature

When I deploy my solution in this configuration, the second list definition gets the first custom content type applied to it and the list schema from the first list definition is also applied to the second list definition.

What makes this more interesting, when I seperate both of the list definitions under two seperate features it all works fine.  Custom content types and list schemas get applied correctly.

Can anyone tell me why I can not deploy both list definitions under one single feature?

If you need me to post any of the origional code or XML to this post please let me know.

Feature Upgrade Functionality - Adding a new Content Type and List Instance

I've successfully used the upgrade functionality in SP 2010 to upgrade my list structures as needed. So far, these updates have been adding new fields to existing content types. Now, I have some new fields, content types and list instances to add, and am having trouble getting this accomplished. The scenario is this: - A new content type with a single custom field (also new), and a list instance for this new content type - A new field that is a lookup back to the new list instance defined above. This new field is added as an existing content type. - In my feature.xml, I have the Element Manifest specified with both new fields and an AddContentTypeField element for the new field being added to an existing content type:   <ApplyElementManifests> <ElementManifest Location="V1_04\Elements.xml"/> </ApplyElementManifests> <AddContentTypeField ContentTypeId="0x0100..." FieldId="{8028A1C8-1147-4DF7-B5C3-8A1F84A30360}" PushDown="TRUE"/> The result of running the update on this feature is: - My new field that is part of an existing content type is added - My new field that is part of a new content type/instance is added - My new content type and list instance is NOT created, therefore my lookup is broken Any idea why my new Content Type and List Instance is not being created? Do I need to specify there

Feature Deployment of Inherited Content Type

I'm encountering a strange behaviour and I'm not sure of the root cause or solution.  I have a custom content type that inherits from form with a content type id of: 0x0101010056138C818DD3564C95CA65FF3C468A86.  This was created in from the SharePoint UI. I'm attempting to deploy an inherited content type from as a feature.  The feature activates fine but no content type appears in the UI.  From that point forward I get the following error in the UI if I attempt to create a child content type of 0x0101010056138C818DD3564C95CA65FF3C468A86.    "The local device name is already in use. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070055) "  In the logs I see the following error 3 times: Failed to find the parent content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c95ca65ff3c468a86" for content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c95ca65ff3c468a8601". At this point I uninstall the feature but still can't delete the original custom content type because it says the content type is in use.  Using the SP Manager tool from codeplex shows me that the child content type is still associated with the parent despite the fact that it never showed up in the UI! Failed to find the parent content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c95ca65ff3c468a86" for content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c9

content Type at site collection level using feature.

I m planning to create a feature to install the content type and site colomun at site collection level. Now my doubt is? 1. what will happen when i de activate a feature with documents already there? 2. what will happen when i de activate a feature without documents? What are points i need to take care?

newlly added content type not exist in SPWeb.ContentTypes

I use a C# application (it uses stsadm.exe) to deploy a content type, and in the same program, I try to get the content type by using SPWeb.ContentTypes[name] right after the content type is deployed,  it returns null. if i exist the c# application and re-run the application, I can get the added content type. I don't know why I cannot get the content type the first time after the content type is deployed. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Greg

cannot register custom edit form through a content type and deploy it as a feature

custom edit form through a content type and deploy it as a feature.. the RTM version of sharepoint 2010 does not register the custom forms. the elements.xml is pretty straight forward..

Adding New Custom Folder Content Type doesn't show up on the Document Library New Menu

I been trying to add new custom folder content type to the document library programatically in my sandbox environment and it does show up on the document library. But, when I move same code to the almost similar configured SP2010 environment, adding new folder content type to the document library doesn't show up on the document library's new menu.

Here is the code? Since this code works fine in my sandbox environment, is there any other settings I should check on the server environment which would cause hiding content type on new menu of document library.

  class Program
  {
    static void Main(string[] args)
    {
      SPSite spSite = new SPSite("http://sp2010vm");
      foreach (SPWeb spWeb in spSite.AllWebs)
      {
        spWeb.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;

        //For each site, cycle through lists
        bool isDocLibraryExists = false;
	      foreach(SPList spList in spWeb.Lists)
	      {
          if(spList.Title == "Classified Documents")
		      {
             isDocLibraryExists = true;
          }
        }

        if(isDocLibraryExists == true)
        {
          //Create new doc library
          SPList splist = spWeb.Lists["Classified Documents"];

          //Create Content Type
          SPContentType documentContentType = spWeb.AvailableContentTypes["Classified Documents Folder"

Set Custom Properties for a custom field type within a content type feature

Hi,

I have created a custom field type (derived from SPFieldText) and added a custom property "MyProperty". Now what I am looking for is, I need to use this field type in my Content Type feature.

How can I specity my custom property within a Content Type definition file, just like what we do with OOB field types?

I've seen a workaround here but it only solves only the problem of XSD validation. Site column is getting installed properly but the value that I specify in the feature is not set for the column after installing the feature.

Thank in advance

Fix: The type or namespace name 'EntityDataSource' does not exist

Today's stupid mistake had me going in circles in my Web application project. The error message was: The type or namespace name 'EntityDataSource' does not exist. As the rest of the error message suggests, I must be missing an assembly reference. Nope, I'd already added in the references to Entity : System.Data.Entity System.Data.Entity.Design After much frustration until after 1 a.m., I gave up and went to bed. This morning I realized that what it wanted was the WEB Entity! System. Web .Entity System...(read more)

WSS 3.0 Content Type with Office 2007

We're currently encoutering an issue on our production servers with Office 2007 documents. In essence, the Content Type for all docx, xslx, and pptx documents cannot be changed away from the site default on all newly created sites.

I've even done some step by step debugging on an SPItem insert and I can set the content type to a custom type, but it reverts back to the site's default Content Type on Update(). Other file types - .doc, .xls, .tif, .txt, and .jpg - have all been tested, and all work as expected (the Content Type changes correctly).

Thanks in advance!

WSS 3.0 Content Type - Lost data for Titles

We are running WSS 3.0 SP2 on server 2003.  Recently, we lost the "Titles" for all content types for documents.  Our system Content Type for Document is set up to require this field to be completed on all documents that is uploaded.  Our system would automatically enter in by default the name of the document in the "Title" field it no longer does this for the user.  The user must now enter in manually the "Title".  How do I get it to enter in the "Title" using the document file name automatically?

Below is the way the setting page for Site Content Type: Document looks like.  (I tried to recreate it since I could place a screen shot in the box)

Why feature with event receiver doesn't activate properly after site provisioning?

Hi!

I have defined feature with event receivers for my document library and for users List .

I try to activate my feature in onet.xml in section <WebFeatures>. After provisioning a new site from onet.xml  all work fine and my feature is shown as activated, but event receivers doesn't fire. It fires only after reactivating my feature (deactivate, then activate it again). But I need my feature works immediately after site provisioning without deactivating and activating it again. Who knows how to solve this problem?

Content Type Saved Incorrectly Using DataView

I have created a blank web part page and added a data view for my selected list in which I have enabled the insert/edit/delete options.  In that data view I have included the content type field (my list has 3 content types).  I am using JavaScript to set some fields defaults and to hide those fields, one being the content type field.  All seems to work correctly when submittin a new entry except that each item I save is always saved as the 1st content type.  I have tried inserting a new item without any JavaScript and have the same problem - no matter which content type I select from the drop-down list the item is always saved as the 1st content type.  Am I missing something here?  Surely I don't have to use the standard list form to insert new items into my list as I need to be able to control the user's interaction using the options available in the data view.

SharePoint Server 2007, SPD 2007, both SP2.

Thanks for any insight!
Chanda
