SSRS 2008 SP1 - Enabling "My Reports" allows users delete reports in folders they should not be able

Issue: Users that have “My Reports” SSRS Role assigned to them can delete reports in other “shared” folders. My understanding was that they will be able to do the tasks specified only  in the “My Reports” workspace not everywhere. I have “My Reports” enabled via SSMS. Users have “My Reports” role assigned to them at the root level. My SSRS Role “My Reports” has only the following tasks assigned: 1.       View Reports 2.       Manage reports 3.       View Folders 4.       Manage Folders To test, I'm using Development version of SQL Server 2008 SP1. Thanks in advance, Martina

Delete users from ASPNET DB if it exist

Good day! We have Sharepoint 2010, SQL 2008, FBA. All works well! I try to create windows form with many functions one of which is to create and delete users from aspnet database. I make a code for users creating. Now I try to write a code for users deleting. Here it is: private void Delete_Click(System.Object sender, System.EventArgs e) { string userName = string.Empty; string Status = string.Empty; int cnt = 0; if (MessageBox.Show("You are about to delete " + UsrName.Text + ". Are you sure you want to continue?", "Delete Users", MessageBoxButtons.YesNo) == System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.No) return; try { //delete the user userName = UsrName.Text; Membership.DeleteUser(userName, true); } catch (Exception ex) { cnt += 1; Status += ex.Message; } if (cnt == 0) { MessageBox.Show("User was deleted successfully. ", "Users Deleted", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Information); } else { MessageBox.Show("There were errors deleting user: " + Status, "Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Information); } } If I delete existing users all works fine. If I try to delete unexisting users I have the message which is in last statement. How can

How to properly configure permissions so users can view, add, edit, and delete list items, but not w

I am trying to figure out how to properly setup security so that it can be configured at the top-level, and then inherited all the way through. Here is what I would like to do: Each user can view, add, edit, and delete list items - but, users cannot modify or delete web part pages. The only way I know how to do this is set Contribute from the top-down, and then go into each Site Pages library and set Read access. The problem is that I have 100 sites, and I was hoping there was a way I could set security at the top, and inherit downward. Rather than having to go into all 100 Site Pages library and set Read access. Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance.

Users can delete the parent folder even when they don't have delete permission on subfolders

I'm trying to use a document library to manage project documents. I created a folder for each project, and under the project folder, there are two subfolders with special permissions for confidential documents. I give normal users the Contribute permission of the project folders so they can add/remove new subfolders under the projecct folder. However, with this configuration the normal users can delete the whole project folder in the web interface, even they don't have delete permission for the two subfolders. Is there a way to prevent this? How to delete "Users Folders" from the Home...

Hello, all.  I recently had to rebuild my Reports Server.  Luckily I had all reports, data sources saved in a Viz Studio project so I just redeployed.  My question is how do I delete this annoying "Users Folders" link from the Home folder.  Clicking the "Users Folders" link, I see additional folders of the few users I have.  I'd like to delete the Users Folders link altogether from the Home folder.  However when I attempt to delete a folder or multi select and delete all of them, I get an error "The permissions granted to user 'SAWS\rhall' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)".  I believe I am an Administrator on this server...or at least I should be.  Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance folks,

SharePoint Moss2007 - Permissions for Issue Tracker. Want users to Edit but not Delete

I have a issue tracker list setup and I've got custom permission group which is basically the same as the standard Contribute group except with Delete removed. However using this custom group users don't get the Edit button on the List Items to then be able to go in and change. When I add the delete permission to the group they can then go in - but can then obviously delete which I don't want them to be able to do.

Anyone got a solution for this?

Users can delete SharePoint 2010 Discussion posts from Outlook 2010

I have setup Discussions on SharePoint 2010 and users have linked these discussions to Outlook 2010.  Permissions on the discussion board are setup such that every user is a contributor (i.e. they can post messages).  On SharePoint, the permissions seem to work properly; that is users can post messages and delete/modify their own messages.  However, within Outlook, users can delete anyone's message. We just had an incident where a user deleted ALL messages in his Outlook SharePoint list and it deleted all messages from the SharePoint site too.

Is there a permission setting that I don't have set properly?

Thanks for your help.

Adding Dynamic Rows in ASP.NET GridView Control with TextBoxes and with Delete functionality

In my previous examples, I have demonstrated on how to add dynamic rows in GridView control with TextBoxes and how to save the values into the database. Now, seems that most of the developers are asking if how to add a delete functionality with it. So in this example, I'm going to show on how to delete a certain row in the dynamic GridView with TextBoxes.

MS SQL Server: Disconnect Users From Database - Kill User Session

Enabling Users to Maintain SharePoint Content

When SharePoint is installed as a corporate intranet, there is a considerable amount of effort involved in maintaining the content to keep the site relevant. As we discussed in the first few parts of this series, SharePoint has many built-in features to reduce the burden on the site administrator.

Some areas of the site usually contain less-dynamic information. Internal memos and corporate policies are common examples of this information. One option for this information is to post these documents in a document library. Documents in a library are often stored in a few different formats: Word, Acrobat (PDF), or HTML. Each of these formats has its drawbacks.

SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() returns -1 when doing Insert / Update / Delete

Sometimes you end up with a return value of -1 when using the SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery method.

Why is that?

Well, the ExecuteNonQuery method is there for statements for changing data, ie. DELETE / UPDATE /INSERT, and the returned value are the number of rows affected by that statement.

When checking the documentation we can see that there are some conditions that return -1.

For UPDATE, INSERT, and DELETE statements, the return value is the number of rows affected by the command.

When a trigger exists on a table being inserted or updated, the return value includes the number of rows affected by both the insert or update operation and the number of

rows affected by the trigger or triggers. For all other types of statements, the return value is -1. If a rollback occurs, the return value is also -1.
