Emails to SharePoint doc libraries seem to drop but do create folders

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I have a MOSS2k7 farm & I'm using Exch2k7 for mail transport. We've recently upgraded from 32bit to 64bit so i still have one 32 bit MOSS server with the SMTP functionality set up and working. I've been trying to move that service to one of my new 64bit servers but have an issue. For some reason, when i set everything up to point from my old 32bit SMTP server to my new 64bit SMTP server, the mail doesn't reach the libraries.

For example: I have an email enabled library using doclibrary1@test.com. The library is set up to create a top level folder based on the recipient and to keep the original mail and attachments. I email that library and can see it hit and leave the Drop folder on my SMTP server. GREAT! Uh, no wait. In checking the library, i see the folder created based on my email address but no original email and no attachment. If i change it to not sort by original sender and to not keep original email, seems like nothing happes other than the message hitting/leaving the drop folder. I've sent messages about 2MB to it and i can see the appropriate size of the message in the Drop folder. I've even tried creating a brand new library. Same results.

I'm at a loss

SharePoint upload files from windows explorer and emails from outlook by drag and drop

Guys, I need to have this functionality to upload files and mails by drag and drop, now sharepoint allows it by having that folderview in IFrame which takes the dropped item, but this does not allow files with spcial characters due to http URL related issue. How can I customize or program this to allow files with special chars in name, if not possible then how can I rename before the drop is over ? thanks, ram

How to easily add emails & attachments to particular document libraries in SharePoint

Our client would like to take a particular email they receive in Exchange / Outlook and send this to a particular location in a document library, to be made part of a client file. What woud be the best way to acheive this?

Working with SharePoint document libraries

Document libraries are collections of files that you can share with team members on a Web based on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services. For example, you can create a library of common documents for a project, and team members can use their Web browsers to find the files, read them, and make comments. Users with Microsoft Office 2003 can check out and edit the files as if they resided on a local or network drive.

By default, your team Web site comes with a built-in document library named Shared Documents, which is listed on the Quick Launch bar as well as on the Documents and Lists page.

SharePoint Tutorial - Libraries

A library is a feature in SharePoint that stores files (documents). Think of a library as a folder on your file system. For example, a library can be created to store resumes in the human resources team site. A library is usually created for a specific type of file. Libraries can contain metadata to describe the particular file in more detail and to make it easier to find.

SharePoint document migration challenges when migrating files and folders

There are several challenges when migrating documents to Microsoft SharePoint. While these challenges can be overcome, they are a real pain if the migration source, content and file systems are not SharePoint friendly.

Add edit drop down menu so I can edit pdf files in SharePoint

I have a pdf file that I'd like to open and edit.  The pdf file just opens, and doesn't ask if it should be opened as a read only or edit option.  My colleague is able to select edit mode as a drill down, but I can't figure out how to add this functionality into my document library... does anyone have a solution?

How to create scrolling table for columns in a SharePoint Designer Data View

I have a fairly complex SharePoint Designer 2007 Data View they have added two more requirements.

1. Have the columns on the right side be able to scroll left to right as there is a large number of columns, while the first 3 columns on the left side stay locked in place.  This is only one list not two, and because of some other requirements I have it must remain to be just one list.

2. Then they also need to have scrolling up and down of the entire list with the headers locked in place.

The first requirement is more important than the second, but preferrably I need to do both.

I am new to XSL so not familar with the syntax. Is this something I can do on a custom Data View? Does anyone have any examples of how?

I have a drawing that show how it needs to look but I don't see an option here to upload a graphic.

So here is a link to my graphic example uploaded to my blog area: http://lindachapman.blogspot.com/  or just the image here: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_aB01ue__NvQ/TGL42MOvrGI/AAAAAAAAAA4/c3xP4uCy4BU/s1600/Scrolling.png

I failed to mention that 3/4 of the columns are HTML Calculated fields wh

What is the best way to Create Ageing Report in SharePoint 2007?

Hi Experts,

I need your point of view about this and please advise,

My client have made a request to generate Ageing Report thru their SharePoint 2007, FYI all invoice was scan and upload to sharepoint and save as PDF file under Document Library. During the scan, certain information will capture automatically and save it into field that we defined inside the Web Form.

Below is the basic input we capture:

Vendor Code, Vendor Name, Invoice Number, Invoice Date, Currency, Invoice Amount

Report Requirement (display list and group of:)

- Vendor Code, Vendor Name, No. Of Invoice, Total Payable, Ageing 0-30, Ageing 30-60, Ageing 60-90, Ageing>90

So my question is, what is the best platform to create this Ageing Report??

because when i try to design the report thru Visual Studio (Reporting Services), i can't identified which database should i connect and which table is store all the invoice information in SharePoint.

Any idea guys?? anybody have implemented it before??

Create a placeholder for drop down lists

First time post here, if i'm in the wrong area please move as necessary. Thanks

I'm using VWD with a database back end. I have a list of teams which are marked off by league, level, division, teamid and then using gridview for the list of players per teams.

I've got the drop downs working correctly but running into a little snag and that is on the auto postback.

When I only have one option come up in a list, i obviously don't change that list and thus it doesn't change the next drop down because there is no post back. is there a way to use a "header" value?

Example of my data

League Level Division Team

NHL 1 West Vancouver
NHL 1 West Calgary
NHL 1 West Edmonton
NHL 1 Central Chicago

OHL 2 West London
OHL 2 West Guelph

NBA 1 Central Chicago
NBA 1 Central Detroit
NBA 1 Central Milwaukee

So my drop downs choose by league, then level then division and then team then shows the player roster for that selected team.

The problem I run into is when only one value exists based on the previous choices I've made. If I choose NHL then Central only Chicago shows up in the example above. Because I'm not choosing between it and another value, the drop down does not put in a post back and thus I don't get a list of the team and then the players

How to create a custom Gantt Chart for SharePoint using VS

So I have been told you can't create a custom gantt chart using SharePoint Designer.  I don't believe that actually, there must be a way to create one from scratch using SPD and a Data View and editing the XSL directly....but assuming there is not..

Are there any articles that explain for a non-developer how to create a custom gantt chart for a SharePoint site using Visual Studio 2008?

Can I create several steps to be run on a SharePoint list as a task to run on a daily basis?

We have a manual process that we do on a SharePoint list to export data from SharePoint to a spreadsheet that can then be used by non SharePoint programs.  I'd like to be able to automate this process so that it can be scheduled as a Task to run on a daily basis.   Not sure if a workflow can do what I'd like it to.  I have SharePoint Designer 2007 as well.

Here are the steps:

1. Load a particular View of a SharePoint List

2. From the view's Action menu, "Open with Access"

3. Save the resulting Access database as a file to a specific Folder on the computer hosting SharePoint

This would be run as a Task on the computer hosting SharePoint.
