MOSS 2007 email integration question (Not with Exchange)

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 28, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Does anyone have any experience with integrating MOSS 2007 with the business/government edition of Gmail?  Is there any documentation/blogs/anything out there?  I've googled but not been able to find anything (yes, it's highly possible I'm just not using the right search string) really.

MOSS 2007
Server 2003 R2 Enterprise
SQL 2005 SP3 (separate)

Currently we have exchange set up to handle everything but will be going to Gmail in the next few months (not my choice, not my decision).  I have no idea how/if this is going to work with SharePoint.

Any information or pointers to info would be much appreciated.

Hi ,

All my files/docs in MOSS 2007 open as read-only with Office 2003 standard edition in some machines.

The user seems to have sufficient permissions to edit but still not able to do so.

Any suggestion?

Immediate alert email body is truncated intermittently in MOSS 2007

Hi All, I  am facing one issue with Alert. We have one Posts list in one of the Blog where Alert Me generates immediate alert for the users who have subscribed to the Blogs. Whenever any new Post added, edited or deleted they used to get alerts. But in the alert email, the body of the alert which normally contains the Post decsription gets truncated intermittently. Sometimes it is truncated with less than 2048 characters in the Body filed and some times with more than 4098 characters. I found in some articles that the limitation is 2048 characters in one line after whcih the new line is expected , else the text will be truncated. I am not able to find the logic behind this truncation in default sharepoint alert functionality. Could you please give some more insights on this front? Thnaks:)

Exchange 2003 Inbox and Calendar webparts for MOSS 2007

I've created one Inbox and one Calendar wepbart as descibed here:

using  OWAInboxPart and OWACalendarPart (code below).

When deploying them and placing them on the same page, only one of them will show anything. It looks like the last added webpart works, while the other won't.
If any one of them is placed alone on a page, they work as expected.

Does anyone know how to make them work togheter on the same page?

Thank you for your time!

Best regards,
Hans Erik Storeide

MOSS 2007 Profile Property Question

I am trying to delete a default property in my MOSS 2007 farm.    We have created a custom property called Core Skills and I want to remove my default skills field.  But the delete button is greyed out.  I am noticing this on a few of the default properties.    Is there a reason why we can't delete them?

We are running MOSS SP2.

Question On MOSS 2007 Configuration Wizard

Can anyone tell me what the pro's and cons are when configuring MOSS 2007 or 2010 using the Wizard versus Psconfig command-line. Is one way better then the other?

I would think that the command line would be more time consuming and prone to human errors.

Sharepoint Moss 2007 Navigation Question

I am experiencing a problem with the navigation. I have a document library and I do not get the navigation bar(if that is what it is called) to display the folders and sub folders below it.

For example in the document library I have a folder called test and a sub folder called test2

The navigation bar shows :

Home > IT even though I am in the document library. (By the way the site I am in is IT)

Now if I browse to the folder test > test 2

I still get Home > IT instead of

Home > Document Center > test > test2

Any help will be appreciated.

Custom Email Alerts using Helpdesk Template in MOSS 2007

Hi All,

I recently installed the Helpdesk template on our SharePoint 2007 Server but I want to find out how to set up alerts so that when a job request has been assigned to person X an email will automatically be sent to that person. Currently you can custimise the Service Request list so that whenever changes are made to it an email can be sent to a designated person, however, what we require is an email being sent to the service request owner.

I presume this will require custom coding but is there third party plug-ins which provide this functionality? As i have never programmed for MOSS i was wondering how much of a task is it to provide this functionality?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

MOSS 2007 AD question

I use MOSS 2007. The user profiles are set to import the phone number 'Work Phone' from AD. However, for just one user the phone number displayed is incorrect. I deleted the user profile from the SSP and did a full import again, still there is no change.

MOSS 2007 - Add "Email Page to Friend" feature to Actions menu or to site master page.

My Communications Director would like us to add an "Email this Page to a Friend" type of feature to our SharePoint 2007 Intranet.  They would ideally like to have this feature available on every page.  But I was thinking that even if we could add this item to the List Actions menu it would suffice.  Does anyone know of a webpart that will do this or can offer some custom code and instructions on how to make this happen?

Parsing an email from Exchange 2007+ from within a custom timer job.

Is this possible?

The exchange server is also set as the outgoing email server for the farm. It is in the same domain and located in the same subnet.... Technically its sitting on the sharepoint server.....physically.

if it is, how would I get that started? bascially I need to read the unread email, parse it and send pieces to a custom list in sharepoint. all I really need to know is how to connect to the email inbox i guess.
