administrators. Now,I need to check if the site is accessed by different people other
than primary and secondary site collection administrators and display an error message to them that site is not accesible to them.

Buty i am hosting a webapplication on IIS which is not part of sharepoint.

How do i achieve this functionality programatically.

I appreciate your response.

Thank You,

Sharepoint site client access denied

I have an sharepoint application which was working fine.

I encountered a license expired message in sql server enterprise evaluation 2008 version after which i changed the date to 2 months earlier date, I have also changed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\ConfigurationState to 3 after which sql server started working but the issue is that the clients are unable to access the sharepoint site completely. On providing the url the web site requests for logon information and then access is denied. The same url with the same authentication credentials is accessible from the server and the entire application works fine from the server.

From the  client the below error page appears.

You are not authorized to view this page

You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

Please try the following:

  • Contact the Web site administrator if you believe you should be able to view this directory or page.

Sharepoint "Access denied"

I'm stuck on the sharepoint access problem now.

We are using Manged Sharepoint 2007 (a hosted version of Microsoft® Windows SharePoint Services 2007) provided by a hosting company.

With the sharepoint site, some of users can not access the site. Message:

Access denied.

You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource

It does not offer any logon prompt.

Users who can not access the sharepoint site are usually sitting in a LAN. I think it might be blocked by their policy. Am I right? Why do they need to block this site?

Please help me with this question.

"Only their own" allows users to edit, then shows access denied page

I am managing a WSS 3.0 portal.  I have created custom lists where a group has contribute permissions.  Under List Settings|Advanced Settings, when I set Edit Access to "Only their own" or "None", my test users can see the Edit Icon and the Edit Item menu option, and bring up the Edit Form.  When they click "OK", they get the Access Denied page.  My experience in that past is that they should not even been shown the option to edit, and they should get Access Denied if they somehow navigate to the EditForm.aspx page.  I even tested this on a brand new site, with three Links lists, each with different Edit Access Levels (All, None, Only their own).  I added one user with contribute permissions.  He had the same result: He could get all the way to EditForm.aspx, but got "Access Denied" when he submitted his changes.  What can I do to fix this?Christopher W. Sharepoint 2010 Multi-Tenancy Access Denied on Tenant Administration Site

Hi, I am currently implementing a Sharepoint 2010 Multi-Tenancy solution. Multi-tenancy is the partitioning of service applications in 2010 to allow data to be separated between web applications or site collections. I am using multi-tenancy to separate data and user profiles between site collections hosted on a single web application. I have partitioned the User Profile Service Application and Proxy using Windows Powershell. The paritioned Proxy Application is then associated with the single web application. I am also using the Sharepoint Foundation Subscription Service Application to subscribe to different site collections within the web application. In this way data and user profiles can be separated. However, the tenant administration site, used to manage each collection, does not allow administrator access to manage the User Profile Service. I receive a standard Sharepoint 'Access Denied' error message. No other errors or details are provided. I have tried assigning different accounts to the tenant administration site but the error still appears. The issue arises when I issue the following SPSite Powershell cmdlet: NEW-SPSite -Owneralias DOMAIN\Username -Secondaryowneralias DOMAIN\Username. The attributes provided in the Cmdlet above are used to assign tenant site administrators however, the accounts cannot access the User Profile Service. Any ideas or recommendati

Access Denied/The workflow could not copy the item workflow error after Sharepoint 2010 upgrade

We have a sharepoint designer workflow that copies a document from one library to another on the same site.  Before the upgrade to 2007 it worked fine, but now with 2010 it gives an error and cancels the workflow when it gets to the copy list item step.   The error on the workflow page: The workflow could not copy the item. Make sure the source and destination lists have the same columns and column settings.  Access Denied   Specifically it is the "copy list item current item to documentlibrary" sharepoint designer workflow action.   I have given the system account full permissions to the library and double checked that all columns are the same in both libraries. Anonymous Access to "Event Export" on sharepoint calendar display page

I am using a SharePoint calendar with events added in the list. When an anonymous user tries to use "Export Event" on the display page ,the user is prompted for a login. Is there a way that an anonymous user can download the .ics file without logging in ? Is anonymous access even possible ?

Access Denied while using Sharepoint designer 2007 to create a work flow

I am using Sharepoint Designer 2007 to create a work flow that sends emails to different people in a group depending on status of a record. For example, when some one reports a problem, an email is posted to concerned person and as soon as he/she checks the problem and updates the status an email is sent to next department and so on. Starting the work flow creation wizard is no problem but as soon as I press 'Finish' to create workflow I get 'Access Denied' message box. Any Ideas? I am using WSS 3.0 on 2003 Server.

Handling access denied in sharepoint 2010

Hi all,

we have the following scenario:

we want to add users to sharepoint site programmatically. The authentication provider is custom.

The user login using the login form and if the user is authenticated on the custom provider but not present on sharepoint, we would like to add it to sharepoint site. Can we intercept the access denied and then add the user by code?

Anyone can help about the scenario?

SharePoint - Item - Edit Properties - Access Denied Error

I have a SharePoint 2007 EE Site  (with patches up to version running on Windows Server 2008 & SQL Server 2008.
I ported an existing site from a different domain to this server by backing up/restoring the content database. The site is running fine.

I added a new sub-site and here is where I have the issue. If I create a document library, add a document, and then use the drop-down on the item to pick "edit properties" I bounce to the SP Error: Access Denied screen. My account is a site admin and has full access to the sub-site.
I can view the properties fine.

When I try to upload a document I get the access denied error message if some of the meta data properties are marked "required". The document is still uploaded. I also get the same error when I try to edit an item in a list.

I can view/edit the properties in Data sheet view fine. The libraries on the existing sites work fine. It only seems to be an issue on new sub-sites.

It almost seems like a permission problem generating the property edit forms. There is nothing in the SP log files.

Access Denied Error While trying edit sharepoint list item

SharePoint 2010 - Crawl Fails - Access is denied

Please help!!  I have recreated the Search Service Application and when I try to do any type of crawl - I get the following error.  I can not figure out where the problem is.  The event logs indicate the same error as well.  I think it should be pretty straight forward.  I have already disabled the loopBackCheck in the registry.

Access is denied. Verify that either the Default Content Access Account has access to this repository, or add a crawl rule to crawl this repository. If the repository being crawled is a SharePoint repository, verify that the account you are using has "Full Read" permissions on the SharePoint Web Application being crawled.

Please help!  Thank you.

Access Denied on Page Creation

I'm getting a weird little thing on one of my sub-sites that I am looking to see if anyone has insight into.  I have a parent site collection (1) that has a child sub-site (2).  The child sub-site then has it's own sub-site (3).  On 3 I have users that have full control.  This is the only site they have full control on.  When they use the site actions drop down to go to create page.  They get access denied.  If they go to View All Site Content and click on create they do not get the access denied error.

What I found is that if I go to the parent site 1 that you can only create pages from site actions if you are a site collection administrator.  These users do not need to be site administrators on the parent site.

Does anyone know if there is a setitng somewhere that needs to be changed?  I can't find anything.
