Hi All,

I am creating a document library in which there are few columns present (like Assigned To,Task Status,Reviewr etc.)

I want to send alert or email notification when the status value is changed. Alert should go to "Assigned To" selected value from the Reveiwers name.

I have tried this with "alert me" functionality provided by WSS 2007 but I think it will not sufficient for me?.

I am not able to proceed please help me?

notification email not sent when updating a task programmatically

I have a task that's in the task list and has no value in the Assigned To field. When I update the field like this: listItem[SPBuiltInFieldId.AssignedTo] = SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser.ID; ListItem.Update(); The task is updated (the assigned to has filled in). But no notification has been send to the person in the assigned to. But when I change the assigned to manualy to another person, and then again to the person it was before, the notification is send. So the email works and the notifications are activated, why is there no notification sent when I change the assigned to programmatically?

Sharepoint 2010 WorkFlow Task AssignedTo Windows Group doesnt send email notification

Empty field on Alert Notification email sent to user when they add an 'Alert Me'

I'm trying to figure out the empty field that should be populated in the email that a user receives when adding an alert. The missing field is the bit in single quotes that is blank. I have added a link to a screenshot below as well.

What is the source of this field? Any ideas why it is blank?

thanks in advance.

Alert 'xxx' has successfully been added on '' .

You will receive alerts in e-mail. The timing and criteria for the alerts depend on the settings entered when the alert was added.

You can change this alert or any of your other alerts on the My Alerts on this Site page.

Why wss 3.0 backup site throwing email notification for completed task

We have taken backup and restore site in different box with all document and workflow (including workflow status) using STSADM.

Now the new backed up site is sending email notification for completed task from new box where task status is showing as completed.

Is it something that we also need to take backup of workflow runtime also? Not sure

Please advice.

Emial Alert Notification on Task Creation

Have a site that we think has some database corruption so we exported the site and then imported in into anotehr new site with a slightly different name.

When we run workflows on the new site tasks are created properly but the email notification is not sent.  Looking at the site names in the ALERT COLLECTION they appear to be the same, that is, the old site SITE1 has now been cloned to SITE1_2.  However the ALERT COLLECTION SPSite name for both sites says Site1.

Am wondering if this is why the email notifications are not being sent?

Thank you

email notification error 5.1.1

I am getting an error when sending email via asp.net.  The error is "Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.1.1...User unknown."

However, the email is getting sent.  Why is asp.net returning this error?

I'm using VS 2008, vb.net,  running 2.0 framework.  This happens regardless of whether I'm testing my application from my local machine or running production version.  Also, I can send a batch of emails and get the error for some but not all.

I would like to be able to count of the error messages really being accurate, so this situation is unhelpful to our users, because they will start to just ignore all error messages.

getting a email delivert status when sending email using msdb.dbo.sp_send_dbmail

Hi All,

Can some help me regarding following.

I have set a job in sql server 2008 to send reminder emails for product expiration.
Now I want a report which will specify the list of the emails sent with the email status details like queued ,sent, delivered, failed.

I can fetch the emails that are sent by querying the like following

select * from sysmail_mailitems SM inner join sysmail_profile SP on SM.Profile_Id = SP.Profile_Id
and SP.Name ='ReminderProfile'

The problem is only getting a perfect status of email whether it is delived or failed. How I can get those status ?

How to make the Workflow Status remain "In Progress" when a task is "Rejected"

Hi Sir/Mam,

I have a work flow running on a list, when a task is Rejected at a stage then the Workflow status is set to "Completed". Instead of this I want the Status to remain as "In Progress", so that in future after the modification of the document the Approver may Approve it and then take it to the next stages. This is not possible if the Workflow is set to "Completed".

Can you please suggest an easy way to do this

Thanks in Advance

Add Issue ID to an email alert?

Dear all,

(running WSS 3.0)

I'm desperately trying to add the Issue ID to the alert email that is sent when a list item is assigned to you. I have looked around and followed many tutorials online, however none of my changes have had any effect. So far I have done:

  1. Copied alerttemplates.xml to customalerttemplates.xml
  2. Edited customalerttemplates.xml
  3. Removed "ID" from <ImmediateNotificationExcludedFields>
  4. Ran stsadm -o updatealerttemplates -url http://server -filename "C:\Program files\common files\Microsoft shared\web server extensions\12\template\XML\customalerttemplates.xml"
  5. Ran iisrest
  6. Restarted Sharepoint Timer service

However even after doing that the email sent when an item is assigned is just the basic default! I've just tried to add the ID to the most simple section of the email (footer) however nothing seems to change the email alert.

I've followed guides such as:

Email task is not accepting the value from TO line

Hi. I'm trying to send an email to the TO: address in the following format "[Fax:blablalba@blablalba]" Send mail task tells me that the input string is in the incorrect format for email. How to skip this and send it out anyway? We have an Exchange server configured, which will send that type of email to the fax gateway. Thanks heaps, Kaarel.

Task assignment to user without read access in 2007 results in no email to assignee, no warning to a

It appears (from observation and searching) that SP 2007 will not send a task assignment email when the assignee does not have read access for the assigned task and there is no warning when assigning a task to someone who will be unable to read it. I have not been able to find any mentions of attempting to address this quirk by either an item event listener or a workflow that would either prevent the assignment or task the originating user to fix the issue by either changing the assignment or having them added to the appropriate group.  I could see one done badly causing a cascade of tasks. The approaches that I've thought about are: Attempt to block assignment by hooking ItemAdding and ItemUpdating on the task content type.  In ItemUpdating, you could use SPListItem.DoesUserHavePermissions since the SPListItem should be there, but you'd may have check the list since I don't think SPListItem is available at that time.  I could see this causing problems when the assignment is via workflow or something that doesn't like other code interfering with its task creation. Hooking ItemAdded and ItemUpdated to assign a new task to the assigning user to either change the assignment or have the assignee added to the users with access to the site. Define a workflow which could be enabled for a list that would check if any new or modified task is assigned to users with

C# newbie stuck - trying to access column data in a SharePoint list in an SSIS script task

Hello, I'm sure this is the simplest question but I can't figure it out, even with Google's help. I am trying to stumble through some C# code in an SSIS script task and I am frustrated that I can't figure out how to do the easiest things.  I eventually want to find data in a column, and then use another list as a lookup to replace that value with another where the existing value matches a value in the lookup list.  So, the data in my (multiple choice) column might be "apples; bananas" and in another list I have a row that contains two columns, the first holding the value "Apples" and the second containing "Red Delicious" and my original column should read: "Red Delicious; bananas." But, alas, I can't even figure out how to see the data that is in a column. Here is my code: /*<br/> Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Script Task<br/> Write scripts using Microsoft Visual C# 2008.<br/> The ScriptMain is the entry point class of the script.<br/> */<br/> <br/> using System;<br/> using System.Data;<br/> using Microsoft.SharePoint;<br/> using Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime;<br/> using System.Windows.Forms;<br/> using Microsoft.SharePoint.Utilities;<br/> <br/> namespace ST_08becda4c05c49cd9f30ea76110076cd.csproj<br/> {<br/> [

Efficiency: new column in source query or derived column task?

Hi All, I've just started working on an SSIS package that pulls data from an OLE DB Source by a query. A new column needs to be added based on the value of a queried column. I was wondering if it's better to do that in the query or with a derived column? A simple example: I have a table that contains CustomerName and CustomerCode (this one can be V /valid/ or I /invalid/). I need to store the CustomerCodeDesc in a separate column in the destination table. Is it better to alter the query like this: SELECT CustomerName, CustomerCode, CASE WHEN CustomerCode = 'V' THEN 'Valid' ELSE 'Invalid' END AS CustomerCodeDesc FROM CustomerTable Or is it better to use a DerivedColumn task in the DataFlow? Or maybe it doesn't really matter...

Immediate alert email body is truncated intermittently in MOSS 2007

Hi All, I  am facing one issue with Alert. We have one Posts list in one of the Blog where Alert Me generates immediate alert for the users who have subscribed to the Blogs. Whenever any new Post added, edited or deleted they used to get alerts. But in the alert email, the body of the alert which normally contains the Post decsription gets truncated intermittently. Sometimes it is truncated with less than 2048 characters in the Body filed and some times with more than 4098 characters. I found in some articles that the limitation is 2048 characters in one line after whcih the new line is expected , else the text will be truncated. I am not able to find the logic behind this truncation in default sharepoint alert functionality. Could you please give some more insights on this front? Thnaks:)

SSIS 2005 - Send Mail Task - signature appended to email is garbled - unicode problem?

Hi, I'm pretty new to SSIS so go easy on me. I have a Send Mail Task to notify if a file cannot be imported - the mailbody is created on the previous step by a VB.NET script task to include the name of the file and the path it's been archived to. The problem I'm having is that while the body of the email I've created is displaying fine, our company's Exchange server appends a signature to all emails, and this is coming up as undisplayable characters, presumably due to some kind of unicode encoding problem. I've tried casting the email body in an expression to DT_STR (doesn't work as DT_STR "cannot be converted to a supported type" which seems a bit odd but never mind), DT_WSTR (garbled signature), DT_TEXT/DT_NTEXT (strange error on this one - "Attempted to read or write protected memory") none of those ideas worked, and I'm a bit stumped now. Can anyone help? I'm using SSIS 2005 with SP3

LS Status Report showing false alert state

I have log shipping every 15 minutes working between 2 servers, and while the secondary server reports everything ok (time since last copy, restore are all under 15 minutes), the primary server reports that the time since last backup is 7400+ minutes.  I have verified that the LS backup job has no failures.  How can I correct this false error state and get the primary server to start reporting actual statuses?   The LS monitor is on the secondary server.
