How to use Designer to create a WF to collect data and update item in the list

I’m trying to create a workflow in SharePoint Designer 2007 to finish the item in the list. In the list, I setup 10 fields (Name, Address, Phone#....), and in the workflow, I set it to start automatically when a new item added in the list (I can add a new Name in the list to start the workflow).


In the step1:

The Conditions is: “If Address is empty”.

The Actions is: “Collect all data from lw1990 (Output to Variable: collect1)


At this point, I don’t know how to update the current item in the list with the data that just collected from user in Variable:

Selecting a Task List in Sharepoint Designer 2007 while setting up "Collect Data from User"

When using Sharepoint Designer 2007 to Collect Data from User the task list cannot be selected.  Instead the Task list that is defaulted is the most recently created Task List.  How can I select a specific Task list to associate with"Collect Data from User"?

How to create scrolling table for columns in a SharePoint Designer Data View


I have a fairly complex SharePoint Designer 2007 Data View they have added two more requirements.

1. Have the columns on the right side be able to scroll left to right as there is a large number of columns, while the first 3 columns on the left side stay locked in place.  This is only one list not two, and because of some other requirements I have it must remain to be just one list.

2. Then they also need to have scrolling up and down of the entire list with the headers locked in place.

The first requirement is more important than the second, but preferrably I need to do both.

I am new to XSL so not familar with the syntax. Is this something I can do on a custom Data View? Does anyone have any examples of how?

Update SharePoint List item using UpdateListItem web service with javascript

I'm using the Custom_AddListMenuItems function in a CEWP to add a menu item to each list item to Archive that item. This is achieved by updating a choice field in the item to 'Archived'. I'm trying to do this using the web service UpdateListItem web service to update the item using Javascript, but I can not find the correct code that updates the list item. Share Point Designer 2007 Workflow (Sequential) - multi-collect data from user

I am currently building a multi-step workflow using ShrePoint designer for MOSS2007. I am getting a bit confused as to if I have an error or if I am doing something incorrect. Here is what I have going. My workflow consists of something similar to the following New document comes in, a collect data from user routine is ran and assigned to a reviewer. My understanding when I create a collect data from user WorkFlow step is any data I request is saved in the "Tasks" list. Therefore I need to grab the workflow task ID in order to later lookup what the reviewer submitted... I understand this...   However, I have one more collect data from user workflow step and I have one more item to collect. Even though this is a brand new collect data from user workflow step - does the collected data still go into the "Tasks" list? In other words, if I have two steps in a workflow and both of these steps are "collect data from user", does the data from both steps go into the same "Tasks" list?  I could see how this might be possible as long as the Task list columns contain all the items for all the different "collect" data from user steps.  I don't see two different Tasks lists representing or named "Reviewer" or "Final" or anything, so I assume the items are all in "Tasks"   However..

create new custom list form in sharepoint designer and edit in browser

hi, i have created a new list using sharepoint designer 2007. now i inserted a custom list form to modify some field and add new ones. when i finished i will tight my new custom list to the custom form. what i want to know is. i see the status field in my new form. and i only want the status field to appear in the edit form for the one that has the permission to edit the status. then i tought of open the list in my browser and go to the list settings. but what i notice is i dont see my fields i have modified in sharepiont designer in the columns section i only see the ones from the existing list. my question is how can i hide the status field in the new item form that it only show in the edit form. and how do i get my new form in the column section so the end user can add more fields if they want without using sharepointdesigner thnx

Error creating Read Item or Read List operation in Sharepoint Designer 2010

In terms of high-level requirements, I need to pull in lists from a couple of different web apps.  To do this, I’m using SPD 2010 to create an External Content Type for the list of interest.  I’m able to create a SOAP Service or WCF Service connection just fine.  However, when I try to create the external content type and create a Read Item Operation on one of the GetList or any other Get* (or other Update methods for that matter) methods, I get the following error:"The method that your operation is based on has parameters with complex types that do not have default parameterless constructor.  This kind of data source methods cannot be used in Business Data Catalog."I tried defining an operation on the “AddAttachment” method, and that worked just fine.  I also tried providing default values to the listName and viewName parameters when creating the SOAP Service connection, but still get the error.  Same issue with a WCF Service connection as well. Does anyone know if this is a 2010 issue, or am I approaching this requirement incorrectly?  What are other approaches for connecting to lists that reside in a different web app than yours? 

How to update selected item state in the list box by clicking a button?

I created a listbox menu to browse through content by clicking items in the listbox. I also created ‘back’ and ‘forward’ type of navigation to browse through the same content based on the browsing history. I load content into frame and accessing the browsing history with NavigationCommands.BrowseBack and BrowseForward Properties. It is working great. However, I need to indicate a selected state of the listbox item related to the content shown in the frame while browsing with Back/Forward buttons. I have a hard time binding that property. What is the correct way to bind selected state of the listitem in this case? Thank you in advance. Excel External Table Data can only create new SharePoint List when Exporting from Excel?

I have a SQL Query that I refresh everyday in Excel. I want to be able to export this list over to a SharePoint list right after my refresh in Excel but I can only Export to a SharePoint list only once. If I try to export again to the same list then it will give me the error "The specified list name is already in use on this server. You must rename the list before publishing it to the server." I have web parts that have connections to this list and I do not want to export my Query to a new SharePoint list everyday. Does anyone know a way around this issue?

Create discussion list item from another (non-discussion) list item ?

I am looking at creating a custom list to track bugs. Updating an item in one list based on data from another

I thought I understood this fairly well, but it seems that I am missing something.  I have created a change management site that uses a calendar list to mark upcoming changes to our IT systems.  I have also created a second list to track some information about the change items that I don't want to show up on the calendar, such as what the outcome of the change was or if the change process was properly followed.  So I have the calendar list and another list called results.  I know that there needs to be a unique identifier that each list item will have in common, so in the results list I created a column called Change Number.  When a new change item is created in the Change Management calendar a workflow runs that notifies some people that a new change has been submitted, and the last step in that workflow creates a new list item in the results list and sets the Change Number field to be equal to the current item ID field.  That part is working right now.  When I create a new change item I can open the results list and see that there is a new item and it has the proper number in the Change Number field. What isn't working is when I try to take actions in other workflows that use data from both lists.  An example is notifying the creator of the change that it has been approved.  When the list item is changed a workflow starts that

Updating list item values in SharePoint Designer using code

Is it possible to programmatically modify the SharePoint objects using SharePoint Designer Object Model. By that I mean coding in SharePoint Designer (not Visual Studio). For example, can we access the list items of a list programmatically and change their values? I can do all this in Visual Studio using SharePoint Object Model but I don’t find a way of achieving this by using programming in SharePoint Designer. I searched through http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb208639(office.12).aspx but no success. If the answer is yes. Can someone please give example(s) or point to some articles etc? Workflow - automatically create discussion item using title field of of custom list item as its subj

Anyone any ideas as to how I can configure SharePoint to create a discussion item using the title of a list item. e.g. user creates list item on a custom list - SP automatically creates a Discussion thread for this list item in the discussions list. I'm guessing this can't be down OOTB . would I be looking at SPD or a coded solution ? regards, Counie
