SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 3 (KB955706) update is successful but repeats installin

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 3 (KB955706) (update 1 of 1) This update seems to be stuck in a loop of installing, each time it successfull installs acccording to automatic updates. Then says it requires installing again straight away. This has been happening for 10 days now. I have tried a manual update from the website rather than automatic updates, no change. Any ideas why? Have posted in Windows update which is where I think the problem lies but they have suggested I post here also.

Uable to successfully install SQL Server 2005 (Express Edition) Service Pack 3 (KB955706)

After repeated attempts, I am unable to install the MSSQL Server 2005 (Express Edition) Service Pack 3 (KB955706).  From Live Update, the installation initializes but then reports that it was unable to install.  The first couple of times I received Error Code 0x65B, but that doesn't come up any longer. I have ACT! Database version 2007 (9.0) and it is unable to access the database to open it because it uses the MSSQL??  Also, there used to be an MSSQL icon below in my system tray, but that no longer appears.  When I reboot it will be on briefly, but then goes away.. MS Customer Support has attempted to help (Case ID SRX1135612820) but now tell me that this is beyond their expertise.  They had me try to reload MMSQL 2005 but no change. Please help! Thanks!!  Terry

KB955706 failed to install on Microsoft SQL Server 2005

I downloaded and installed Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server 2005.  During the completion of the installation, there was a Hotfix.exe error that said "A recently applied update, KB955706, failed to install.  Also, a message pops up to reboot the computer.  Does this mean that the Service Pack 3 installation was unsuccessful?  How do I fix this?

installing SQL 2005 "SP3 SQLServer2005SP3-KB955706-x86-ENU.exe" onto a W2003 SP2 MS cluster sharing

Hi Microsoft support,

I would like to report a problem when installing SQL 2005 “SP3 SQLServer2005SP3-KB955706-x86-ENU.exe” onto a W2003 SP2 MS cluster sharing disks on a EVA SAN. Please see attached log file for the patching process.

The patching fail with the following depending on database instance :

10/31/2010 14:34:36.253 MSP returned 1603: A fatal error occurred during installation.”

Description of patching process:

Patching has been tried with two supported methods. Executed from the active node where the patching on the passive node is done automatically by the patching program itself sending the software over to passive node. And by pausing the passive node only installing on the active node where no attempt is done to install on the passive node but should be then done by moving over database package to passive node (to become active) and do the same from there pausing the previous active node). It was discovered that on node A: the drive: becomes full in the middle of th
