Acessing SQL Server over the internet

Guys,

I am now in a small company that has a server hosted in SQL Server country1 with public IP. I have seen several unsuccessful attempts to access the database in the LOG. In my opinion a very serious security flaw.

We have two locations that should make access to SQL Server (country.2 and Brazil), these two local staff makes remote access as well.

Do not know much about security configuration through the Internet, but the experience in business that I could suggest the following.

ISA Server 2004: Developing an Application Filter for Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration S

The beta version of Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 is now publicly available. It includes a rich SDK with several extensibility mechanisms that allow third parties to integrate their specialized solutions on top of the ISA platform. In this article, the author explores the application filter extensibility mechanism, which enables you to add high-level application layer filtering capabilities to ISA Server and to provide rich content filtering solutions. He also highlights the new features of the ISA Server 2004 SDK, then moves on to describe how to develop a basic application filter that monitors all data going through the ISA Server, and how to integrate a filter into the ISA Server management console to create a seamless interface experience for your users.

Info on the Go: Wireless Internet Database Connectivity with ASP, XML, and SQL Server

Many handheld wireless devices such as cellular phones and PDAs already have the ability to access Web sites. So how do you build Web applications that tap this wireless audience? Although there are a number of limitations to wireless devices-such as screen size, navigation, and connection speed-you can use familiar Web development technologies to make your existing Web applications available to mobile users. This article outlines the services and equipment currently available to support wireless Web access. A sample wireless-accessible Web site that dynamically draws data from a SQL Server database back end in real time is created using tools such as ASP and XML.

Publish Sharepoint Foundation Server to Internet

Hi guys, first of all I don't want exactly to publish SPF server to Internet, but place it in DMZ and make available from Internet. So I won't have any dedicated web server, only one server with MSSQL and SPF on it. Is there any practices to make it more secure? So far I'm only came up with form authentication... Any ideas or links are highly appreciated!

"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" from IE7 - ASP.NET Development Server Error?

Dear everybody, I've just installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 on Windows Vista Ultimate. I created "New Web Site" and Started Debugging the page to see the blank page rendered. To my surprise, IE 7.0 displayed an error message saying: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I spent some time investigating and here is the result: The page going to be rendered assumes port 49791: http://localhost:49791/WebSite3/Default.aspx The ASP.NET Development Server operates under different port no: 49793 After changing the url above manually to use the port of ASP.NET Development Server, the webpage gets renderred correctly: http://localhost:49793/WebSite3/Default.aspx ASP.NET Development Server uses dynamic ports. I noticed that Debugging process always assumes port number lower by 2 than the real port number of the ASP.NET DevSer. Therefore Debug process never runs and displays the page. I do not want to manually edit the local host URL after every page rebuild, so my question is following: How to make the "Start Debugging" function to use appropriate port of the ASP.NET Development server? How to make Visual Studio to open the page being debugged? To mention couple of things I tried: I reinstalled Visual Studio2008, tried to disabled IPv6 as some threads recommen

internet and intranet on different server farms

I have a site with some subsites and its an intranet application ,now I want to deploy the same site as an internet publishing portal on a different farm such that the intranet becomes my authoring site and internet becomes my publishing site,so I am thinking of using content deployment ,but my question is whether we can target internet users only to some specific content such that some webparts are not displayed for internet users (audience targeting) ,also target audiences to intranet.

Connect to sql server 2008 remotely via internet

Hey'a guys kinda new in sql server..

Im developing a C# windows application.

I want to connect to my sql server remotely outside our local area network. Basically I want to connect through the internet. can I do that? How? through terminal services? any reference on how to install/ setup terminal services on my windows server..?

What could be the best connection string for that matter that I can use for my ADO.net?

my connection string is:

@"Network Library = dbnmpntw; Server =  "servername\domain name,1433" ; DataBase = "databasename" ; User ID = "username " ; Password = "password ";

Ive tried going to connectionstrings.com but couldnt find one that works over the net.

Do I have to add the static Ip in my connection string?

When connecting through LAN everthing works fine. Problem happens when i try to connect outside our office.

I think maybe the problem is in my connection string....

Transfer data to a SQL Server that's not exposed to the Internet

I need to transfer data from a local SQL Server to one on my host where the SQL Server on the host is behind a firewall and port 1433 is closed.

I've looked at using a Service Broker and SQL Express or MS Access but both seem inefficient and can't be automated.  I tried a SSIS package but without port 1433 open they won't communicate.  For security reasons I'm not sure a Web service will work either.

Has anyone got any ideas on how to do this?  Will a secure Web service do the trick?

How does SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites Exactly Work?

Hi!

I am a SharePoint developer. I work in a company that develops and deploies SharePoint Solutions for Intranet sites.

Now, we have a customer that requires SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites. I have read some things about it, but I am still unsure about the SharePoint for Internet Sites deployment.

The informations I have found are not enough to understand it very well, so, I would like someone helps me.

What does exactly SharePoint Server 2010 differ from SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites?

Is SharePoint Server 2010 for Internet Sites SKU the same than SharePoint Server 2010 one?

http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/en-us/buy/Pages/Licensing-Details.aspx Provides some information about SharePoint 2010 licenses. There, we can find:

"The Server only licensing model is for external users only. Internal users can use this license only if all content, information, and applications are also accessible to external users. If the server has items that are for internal use only, those users require CALs, and their servers require licenses for SharePoint Server 2010."

But, how can we do those restrictions? Using SharePoint permissions? How does Microsoft check it?

Does SharePoint Server 201
