I have a document library with the standard name column linking to the document. However, we'd like to create a custom field and have that link to the document (and edit item menu).
How is this best accomplished?
Thanks in advance!

I needÃÂ to establish links to resources in an existing document repository, but Sharepoint presents the following message when attempting to add the link "Enter a valid document name and URL. Valid URLs must begin with 'http:' or 'https:'"
Thanks in advance.
On a pretty vanilla SharePoint document library, a particular user browsing with IE8 can click on the document icon or the title link for a Word document but nothing happens. Other document types were not tested, so I can't say
if it was specific to Word documents. The user can however pull up the menu at the right of the title and select "Open in Microsoft Office Word" which will open the document in Word and is then able to modify and save the document.
The behavior has not been observed from other users using IE8. I've reviewed the users Internet Options settings and didn't see anything out of the ordinary and tried disabling pop-up blocker and other potentially interfering features without changing
the observed behavior. The user is from a different location and his configuration may or may not represent the stock configuration at that site, so I can't dismiss it without determining whether it would affect all users at his site. Word 2007
is installed on the user's machine.
Does this sound familiar? Any suggestions for troubleshooting?
I have a SharePoint 2010 farm that was upgraded from MOSS 2007.
I have noticed that in some of my document libraries, there is a tick box next to each item in the list, and an Add Document link at the bottom of the list, but in other Document libraries, the tick box and link are not there.
How do I get these to display for all document libraries?
I am trying to create an EventReceiver which gives me the parent folder for currently added documents. For this reason I created an ASPX Page which I display through a "Page Viewer Web Part" on my Sharepoint. Within this
Page I can create new folders in my Document Library. This is working fine. My problem is that I want to create an EventReceiver. The event is firing and I can debug it, but my properties object seems to be missing something. I am not able to get the name
of the parent folder.
Is this because I am displaying my site through a "Page Viewer Web Part"? But that would be strange because I am able to write into my document list.
