Parameters Disabled in Sub-Reports

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I have a problem with my reports published in IIS, I have a main Report that redirect to other reports. That redirecting is made by “Go To Report” option in Action Property, and in field “Specify a Report” it returns a “Report URL” field, configured in database.

All the Reports that could be called have a common parameter “User Id”, that is passed generically for all the reports. But all the reports have other parameters too. That solutions works fine.

In Reports Manager, when I call the “sub-reports” directly it works fine too, but when I call from the main Report, some of the other parameters are enabled and some are disabled, what can I do to make then all editable? Is it a permissions problem?

Passing Parameters through sub reports

I am trying to use a parameter field where there is a subreport in my main report but i keep getting the error "subreport cannot be shown" when running the report. Any ideas please.

p.s - I have just set the parameters the same in the subreport as the main report.

Linked Reports - Multi-Select Parameters

I have searched for this but have not found any answers, or similar questions even. I have a report with several multi-select parameters. These parameters are populated by datasets that use stored procedures. When I go to "Properties" and "Parameters" of the linked reports, they do not populate the drop-down menu for the parameter, the parameter is simply blank and has an area for me to manually type in data. Is there any way to force these parameters to populate with a selectable list of options? Like would occur when running the report from the front-end interface, or setting up a subscription.

Passing parameters between 2 SSRS reports deployed in report manager

I have created 2 reports in SSRS. In my 1st report there is a tablix, which contains many rows. The text in these rows act like hyperlink and upon click navigate to my 2nd report. This functionality is working fine in Visual Studio and also in report manager. But as soon as I deploy my reports in SharePoint site (using a page viewer web part), this functionality breaks. I can see when I take my mouse near the text in the Tablix it shows a URL like http://IP Address/Reportserver/

It's evident that the URL here is not forming correctly. Can anyone help me out in this issue. In my report for navigation purpose I had used Action -> Goto Report (report 2) and passing the parameters there.

Thanks in advance,

SSRS 2005 reports - Parameters slow to take input from user

I have SSRS 2005 reports with two parameters, StartDate and EndDate. When I run the report in the internet explorer, the report takes 30 to 40 seconds to respond to the user control. I mean the calendar picker appears only if I click after 30-40 seconds from the time the report loaded. I'd appreciate your thoughts to resolve this issue.

ssrs reports with parameters performence

Hi all,

Passing Multi-Value Parameters between reports

I have two Reports PropertySearch and PropertyDetails. In PropertySearch I have  2 parameters PropertyNameSearch (textbox) , City (multi-select from a drop down). It takes some propertyName and Few Cities as input and displays a list of properties matching these two. So the list has a link to PropertyDetails for which I just need PropertyID that passes internally to the PropertyDetails. Everything works perfect.

But when I was in second report I want to go back to the first report ( which was displaying results with based on parameters) to choose a different property. So for this I have created the parameters @PropertyNameSearch , @City in my second report and I set it to hidden. Now I'm passing these two values to the second report with actual parameter PropertyID.  I have placed a link to first report in the second report that passes the @PropertyNameSearch and @City to first report. I can pass @PropertyNameSearch successfully but my problem is I cannot pass multi-value parameter @City between two reports.

Any help or suggestions ?

Linq: how to share parameters between lambda expressions ?

When using Linq to objects, you will quickly feel the need to pass some parameters from a method to another but it's not so easy because each Linq method is not calling the following one. In a Linq sequence, each method is using the result computed by the previous one. So, local contexts are not visible from one method to another.
The compiler is using two technical different ways to let parameters go out of a method.

Viewing Reports with SharePoint 2.0 Web Parts

Reporting Services provides several Web Parts that work with specific versions of a report server and in particular deployment modes. If you want to access report server content on a SharePoint site from a native mode report server, use the SharePoint 2.0 Web Parts that are included with Reporting Services. Instructions for installing and using the 2.0 Web Parts are provided in this topic.

view state vs request parameters

If  the view state is the data entered into the form fields then they are supposed to be available in the request parameters or request body. Then why would we need view state for?

Session with Crystal Reports on IE 8

Having a very wierd problem.  I have an application that uses Crystal Reports and it uses what I have found to be a common scenario (I am not a CR expert in any way).  I have an ASPX page that gathers options for the report, and then it goes and gets the data and if there is some, a button appears for them to launch the report.  On clicking that button, the code sets some values in the HttpResponse.Context area, then performs a Server.Transfer to another ASPX page that is our Report Template.  This page contains the CR stuff and it generates a PDF version of the report.  It then does the following code:

 With HttpContext.Current.Response
            .ContentType = "application/pdf"
            .AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=Report.pdf")

Thank you..

FormView -- Parameters and asp:Table

I've already solved this problem to my satisfaction, I just want to know WHY it works this way.

I have a FormView control bound to an ObjectDataSource.  Let's say our data source is a hypothetical table with three columns:  id, name, age.  Why is it that when I use the <asp:Table> element inside of the FormView, the parameter values are not set, but when I use the standard <table> tag, it works fine?

This seems like a .NET problem to me.  I expect the <asp:Table> element to work in the same way as <table> because they are, for all intents and purposes, the same thing.  Am I missing something?

linqdatasource parameters question

I'm currently getting to know the linqdatasource control. What would happen if several WHERE parameters are added to the linqdatasource control declaritively in the aspx page but no WHERE clause is defined?

1. is there any issue with setting up multiple WHERE parameters in the aspx markup for linqdatasource but then deciding which ones actually get used at runtime by setting the actual WHERE clause at run time? Would the unused parameters simply be ignored and cause no issues?

2. when you need to modify WHERE clause or WHERE parameters at runtime do you need to do so in an event handler? such as linqdatasource.selecting?
I see from the above link it is possible, but is that the standard way to handle controlling filtering in code behind for linqdatasource?

2b. if you use an event such as linqdatasource.selecting to add where parameters and/or modify the where clause in code will that also break the builtin sorting and paging support of the linqdatasource with a gridview?
