Creating Snapshots using Web Service

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi All,

I am trying to use the Reporting Service Web Service to create report snapshots, so that users see the output directly (the reports would take a minute or two to execute otherwise).

I tried using the Render method with a history ID = Current date and time , with the idea that the snapshot would just be based on the time stamp like how SSRS does it by default. But I am not able to get this to work as expected.

My questions are:

- Is Render the right web method to dot his?

- Is there anything special to be done for history ID?

- How should the report be set up? I have been trying with "Render this report from an execution snapshot"

Please help. Thanks in advance,

Ben

Creating and Using an ASP.NET Web Service in Visual Web Developer

In addition to letting you create Web pages, Microsoft Visual Studio also lets you create Web services that use ASP.NET XML. Creating a Web service in Visual Studio is similar to creating a Web page. You can also use the Microsoft Visual Web Developer Web development tool to reference and use Web services that are in a Visual Web Developer solution, on your local computer or in a local or external UDDI directory. In this walkthrough, you will create the Web service in one solution and use it in another.

Tasks illustrated in this walkthrough include:

Creating a simple XML Web service in Visual Web Developer.

Creating a separate Web site that uses the Web service.

Any framework for creating a job scheduler service?

Just curious to know if there was any official Microsoft code blocks, classes, or such for writing a service that runs other assemblies or WCF services?  That can be configured easily from a web page, pre-coded, for running tasks at certain times on certain recurring intervals?  I've already built one but am open to anything done better- which I'm sure there is.  Thanks!!!

From the little documentation i found i am creating an Index server(with out CA on it) 2 questions here : 1. Is this the best way to optimize my farm? 2. Is there any online documentation or any knd of link that woudl describe how to set up the index server. thanks in advance. Creating service application w/ Requirement for MySite security profile to be maintained

Good Day; In Sharepoint 2010 Microsoft has given the developer the ability to create a service application that can have its own database and scale independantly from the rest of the Sharepoint farm.   I wish to create a Service Application that will store data much like a list, but I need to have the ability to use the same security trimming that the profiles offer via MySites.  We need to have the granularity at a user level that we can get in MySites but I do not wish to store this data in the Mysite collections.  Can the security granularity found in Mysites and Profiles be extended into a Service Application?  Any examples of others doing this or case studies around security that I can be pointed to would be most helpful. Cheers C

creating a sample web service response

I am trying to simulate a sample web service payload similar to that which i will receive one the webservice is live. Can anyone help me simulate this?Criteria for my response will be:a bool pass or failstring - messageand the object (in this case in the form of a list)heres the class I am to populate with sample data: public class WebServiceCollectionResponse { private List<Object> _returnObjects; public bool Success { get; set; } public string Message { get; set; } public List<Object> ReturnObjects { get { if (_returnObjects != null) return _returnObjects; else return new List<object>(); } set { _returnObjects = value; } } } How can I use this class to put sample data in it? Search server 2010 setup - error creating search service application

I am running in a very similar siutation as this post:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/sharepoint2010setup/thread/3215D0B3-1BEC-4AEE-844D-DECDE9DEA1D8

I am configuring a new Search Server 2010 production environment.

I used the search setup account to run the setup and run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard.

During the first run of the SharePoint configuration wizard (where the farm account and service applications are setup), the process failed because the search service application could not be created.

Errors were encountered during the configuration of the Search Service Application.
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: User does not have permissiont to perform this action.

I was under the assumption that the setup account had securityadmin and dbcreator SQL Server roles.  However, this was not the case and I had them added.  My original thought was the setup failed because of this.  After those roles were added, I tried to recreate the search service application and I still get a failure.

I am pretty sure I have followed the prerequisites as prescribed by Microsoft in terms of account setup (

Using WCF WF Service in a Web Project without creating a host

Hi

I have created a WCF Workflow Service Application which contains multiple WCF Workflow Services in it. And some of these services contain multiple Send-Receive activities in a flowchart/sequence.

In the same solution, I have created a Asp.Net Web project in which I have to use these WCF WF Services. In this Web Project, I added the Service Reference of the all the WCF Workflow Services that I have, but however when I try to invoke these WF services, it gives errors.

I went thru various samples and in every sample there is ServiceHost created which makes available an endpoint, and consuming the service using this endpoint makes everything working. Now my questions are:

1. Is there no way to make WF services work properly in a Web project without creating a WF Service Host??

2. I am also having problems in persisting a workflow. As I mentioned earlier, I have some services which have multiple send-receive activities in it so I need to persist the workflow instance until the complete workflow is complete. Again, I was able to do this using the Service Host, but how to do it without using a service host?

The problem is I have to host web application (and hence also the WF Services) on my Web hosting (GoDaddy) and on Azure Cloud and in both the cases I cannot create a separate Workflow Console Application that will work

Creating CLR stored procedure with external web service url

I am consuming web service in CLR stored procedure. For this i used VS 2005 web reference method to get the proxy object. It works fine.

I want to place web service url (ex: http://mywebserver/myservice?wsdl) ) in an external file like app.config etc. And fetch the url while execution of clr stored procedure. Here I want to isolated the web url from clr code.

Is there any possibility to refer the web service url from config file which is outside of clr dll?

Please let me know if any one have any idea how it can be done.

Thanks in advance.

Can a table name impact generating the service client when creating Service Reference?

I have a new WCF service I'm writing under VS2010 and IIS 7.5.  The service includes a table named Client.

When I built my test class and added the service reference, the first test was confirming the creation of the client.

My service reference did not generate any client that I could call .Open on!!!! I was wondering if it is due to that table name???

Edited to add that I tested the service through the browser and it brings up the page and XAML fine.

Thanks for any assistance!
