Shared dataset in SSRS 2008 R2 running on SSAS 2005

I am trying to create a report in SSRS 2008 R2 using SSAS 2005 as a datasource. My dataset has a date parameter. When I create an embedded dataset in my report everything works fine, but when I create a shared dataset with the exact same mdx query, I get the following error: An error occurred during local report processing. The definition of the report 'xxxx' is invalid. The Value expression for the report parameter 'DateCalendarHierarchy' contains an error: [BC30034] Bracketed identifier is missing closing ']'. Does anybody have any ideas? Is this a bug? Thanks, Louis

WPF 4 with SSRS Report Viewer and long running Background Worker Dispatch task.

Hello,

I've recently run into an issue with with WPF 4 and the SSRS viewer control with a batch emailing application. See http://www.jenasysdesign.com.au/dnn/Blogs/tabid/71/EntryId/5/WPF-4-SQL-Server-Reporting-Services-processing-application-Memory-Leak.aspx for details of some performance profiling issues I found with this technology stack.

I've got two issues.

Firstly, I implemented a background worker process to handling looping through the 2,800 reports. I found to run the SSRS report viewer to export the report results in a slow memory leak. See Red-gate Ants memory profiler 6 image in the link above. I'm not sure what I need to do to remove weak references with this combination of technology. Any ideas?

Secondly, the following code runs on the background worker process, designed so the user can monitor the progress of the a large batch of report files getting generated.  The catch here is involves using the SSRS viewer to export a reports results requires the Dispatcher.Invoke method to ensure that ReportViewer.xaml screen gets a UI thread, but in the process it interferes with the background workers report progress methods, so the UI doesn't see the progress.

SSRS 2008 crashng when running a report with huge amount of data

We have a huge amount data that is loaded (using flat files, upto 80GB in size) from the mainframe on a daily basis after which our users use SSRS to view the results using predeployed reports. One of the report query brings back a huge amount of data but when rendering the reports, it dies and restarts the service.

So is IIS mandatory for running SSRS?

I had read somwhere that SSRS 2008 onwards underwent some sort or architecture change and now does not rely anymore on IIS.

Was it wrong?

I ran the SSRS configuration manager on a machine which doesn't have IIS and everything went through fine.

now when I say http://mymachine:port/Reports

I get TCP Error 503

SSRS asking for credentials while reports running for long time.

We have a report which executes a stored procedure and it runs for 10 minutes.  After running for 5 minutes, the report keeps asking for username and password for 3 times and redirects to unauthorized page.  The website uses WIDE IP for crash and recovery handling, so it has two nodes.  Could some one please help me to figure out what problem it is ?  The SP data is not huge, which produces only 300 odd rows and 20+ columns.

Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks.

Running Reports from a SSRS Scale-Out instance

Hi to all,

First of all, thanks for the good information that usually all of us can find here to solve our problems with SQL.

Now I'm going to try to explain my problem. Following some of the Q&A published here, I have installed a SSRS Scale-Out environment with 2 SSRS Web instances and an external SSRS DB repository. After that, I have published some rdl files without any kind of problems.

The problem that I found is the following, if in one of my SSRS Web instances I call to the report using localhost (http://localhost:9000/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fMy+Reports%2fEQUIPOS_HW+-+RMA), the report works perfectly and I can see the data obtained from an OLAP cube in SSAS, but if I call to the report using any other way to call to the system (example: IP, hostname, etc. --> http://127.0.0.1:9000/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fMy+Reports%2fEQUIPOS_HW+-+RMA), I receive this kind of error:

  • Error al procesar el informe. (rsProcessingAborted)
    • SSRS 2008 R2 running in SharePoint 2010 Integration mode - Not able to schedule reports.

      Hi,

      I am unable to schedule report am getting following error when trying to schedule an SSRS report from ReportViewer Webpart in SharePoint 2010.

      • The current action cannot be completed. The user data source credentials do not meet the requirements to run this report. Either the user data source credentials are not stored in the report server database, or the user data source is configured not to require credentials but the unattended execution account is not specified. (rsInvalidDataSourceCredentialSetting)

      I have SSRS 2008 R2 running in SharePoint 2010 Integration mode on Win 2008 R2 System.

      I have also setup the unattended execution account from the Reporting Services Configuration Manager, which has appropriate privilates on the database to generate report.

      Also, I have reporting webservice setup @ following url (am using the named instance of SQL Server):

      http://<Servername>/ReportServer_SQLSERVER97170

      Am able to view the report from report viewer webpart but unable to schedule it.

      Kindly let me know what's going wrong.

      Thanks in Advance,

      Sachin R. Chavan.

Show grand total running total in GridView Footer

In many scenarios we need to display Running total as well as Grand total in GridView footer. In this post i will try to explain in an easy way that how we can display running total & Grand total in a GridView footer combindly. To explain this solution using an example here i use a sales order report. The report contains all sales order amount in a tabular way. I will use a GridView to display sales order amount and use GridView footer to display Running total & Grand total. Let we have a customer table with id and name column plus an orders table with OrderID,CustomerID,OrderDate & Amount. Now our goal is to show all customers order with amount as well as page wise running total & grand total. Note that running total is necessary when you enable paging in a GridView where as Grand total is always you can consider.

Client script not running

Dear all,

in my MVC 2 application, and in the shared Master Page I wrote this little script for menu handling :

<script src="../../Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () {

     $('#nav li').hover(
         function () {
             //show its submenu
             $('ul', this).slideDown(100);

         },
        function () {
           //hide its submenu
            $('ul', this).slideUp(100);
         }
     );

 });</script>

The script, that shows menu items when the

Very Basic Question - Error message running first page

Hi Everyone,

I am running Windows 7 and I have gone into Control Panel and activated all of the IIS Functions.

The web application I am running was downloaded from the net (and has worked on other machines previously).  Once I downloaded it, I moved it into C:/inetpub/wwwroot/code/main.asp

I am a bit of a novice at this!  But I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction!

I get the following error when I try and run the web application through IE:

"An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator. If you are the system administrator please click here to find out more about this error."

(When i click the "click here" button it just goes to the IIS site).

Appreciate any help I can get!

Thankyou!

Hello,
I've a MDX Query that has where clause as shown below.
I'm designing report using SSRS 2008. How can i pass date as parameter ? I tried to setup @from and @to as parameter but not working ?
any ideas....

WHERE ( {[Date Central].[Calendar Date].[2010-04-01 00:00:00]:[Date Central].[Calendar Date].[2010-08-30 00:00:00]} )

need it to work as

How to change text in columns in SSRS?

I need to create a complex report and export it to Excel.

In the first column header, text is displayed as "Hide Daily Columns", but I need the text to change as "Unhide Daily columns" when I click on it and when the text changes the columns under "daily" header (I have 3 columns under this header) present in the report shud be hidden and only weekly columns shud be visible. Any ideas please. I am new to SSRS and tried out many ways but didn't get it.
