How do I add two XML tasks to a Data FLow task?

I am new to SSIS and am developing a package which takes input from an XML file and then populates an existing SQL table with these records.  However, this is a very large XML file.  I keep getting an Out of Memory exception.  (This file is 210 MB)!  So what I tried doing was separating this XML file into 8 smaller files.  Now, I can successfully load data from these smaller files one at a time.  But how can I do all of them in the same package?  I connected two XML tasks to the Data Flow task and get the error below.  I also increased my timeout and number of errors to no avail.  Advice? Error: 0xC002F304 at XML Task 1, XML Task: An error occurred with the following error message: "Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.". Task failed: XML Task 1 Warning: 0x80019002 at zSkywardEnrollment: SSIS Warning Code DTS_W_MAXIMUMERRORCOUNTREACHED. The Execution method succeeded, but the number of errors raised (1) reached the maximum allowed (1); resulting in failure. This occurs when the number of errors reaches the number specified in MaximumErrorCount. Change the MaximumErrorCount or fix the errors. BIDS wont let me edit script tasks, Package wont open without a "temp" folder in appdata???

I have a very stupid problem, because the way BIDS works is just hilariousy idiotic.    Short Story: 1) When i try to edit script tasks it will complain about "failed to create project at some random path in temp folder" and wont open anything. I cannot edit script tasks anymore. THe project is essentialy dead to me. REboot or restart wont help. I spent five hours on this project and i dont want to do all that work from scratch! 2) I cannot port my solution to antoher computer or place because it links to the files in appdata/local/temp folder of the pc for some reason. If i delete that folder or port the solution, it will complain about some file in temp folder called "3jews....tmp" and will say that solution is unopenable. Need help to resuce my project and be able to continue working on it!   Long Story: When you make a project, BIDS stores its files in a separate folder: a solution file, a project file, a package file etc. You might have thought, you can now carry your solution over by copying this folder. WRONG! The BIDS actually stores files of  the solution in /Users/name/AppData/Local/Temp folder! And It cannot open a solution/package/project without files from that folder, now what kind of idiotism is that?   It all started with BIDS not saving my script task changes, then telling me "cannot create project in folder

Data Flow Tasks does not complete even though data transfer has ended

I have an SSIS 2008 package which contains a number of SQL Tasks and Data Flow tasks with precedence.  When I run each of the tasks separately, the transfer is completed, and sometimes the data flow task turns green, but sometimes it does not.  When I run the package as a whole from my workstation, a few of the tasks compete but then all processing stops.  There are no errors, the package just sits there.  The objects within the Data Flow tasks are green and the data transfer is completed, but the task is yellow and the package does not move on to the next task. Each of the Data Flow tasks consists of one ADO.Net Source to an ODBC driver for Cache and an OLDB Destination to a SQL Server database.  I can monitor the source connections and I can see when the successful transfer activity stops.  However, the package does not close the connection and move on to the next task. I have tried different levels of precedence and even allow all of the tasks to run in parallel and it does not seem to matter.

SQL 2008 R2 Custom Data Connection Issue with Data Flow - Data Sources

I have a custom data connection that we used in SQL 2005 to connect to a non-standard source to pull data.  We are in the process of upgrading to SQL 2008 R2 and I am running into an issue that hopefully someone can help me with.

I have upgraded my custom connection code for SQL 2008 R2.  I can set up a connection using the custom code inside of an SSIS package.  However, when I go to a data flow task and try to select a connection for a data source object, OLEDB or ADO.Net data sources, my connection is not available.  If I select new on the connection option, my connection type is not available.  To get around this in SQL 2005 I used the data reader source.  The data reader source is not available in SQL 2008 R2.  So I am stuck.

My custom connection is implemented as an IDBConnection.

Visual Studio 2008 crashes on SSIS Data Flow Task opening

Visual Studio 2008 crashes on SSIS Data Flow Task opening.
This is a random behavior on random SSIS packages on Data Flow Task opening on packages that I've finished developing last week. The packages does not executes with error.

Error Description from Event Viewer:
Faulting application devenv.exe, version 9.0.30729.1, stamp 488f2b50, faulting module msdds.dll, version 9.0.30729.1, stamp 488f2e31, debug? 0, fault address 0x00012b6a.

I'm runnig SSIS development against SQL SERVER 2008 ENT 64.

There is already a fix for this ?

SQL 2008 BIDS - data tab / editing SQL code

We have been creating reports in SSRS/BIDS 2005 for years and now we are creating them in SQL 2008 BIDS.  We know that the Design / Data tab has gone away and to get the new version of that we go to View > Report Data.  This brings up a tree of datasources and fields, etc.  And I see where I can create a new query.

Our question is - in SQL 2008 BIDS where to we go to edit the current SQL code?  Used to be the data tab in design view, but that is gone.  I cannot find anything on this on the boards, books on-line, etc.  I must be missing something very simple, but it's driving me crazy!

Any guidance is appreciated.

DataReader Source Data Flow control not in the Toolbox of BIDS ???

I find this advice in the SSIS forum . . . but I can't find the DataReader Source in the Data Flow source items . . . nor do I seem to be able to 'Add Item' that time.

Advice appears to be I should use DataReader Source when pulling data from Oracle using ODBC e.g.:

"ODBC is supported in the data flow by the Data Reader source adapter. I think the original problem may have been that you were trying to use the Data Reader source with an ODBC connection manager.

To extract data from an ODBC source, try the following:

  • Add an ADO.Net Connection Manager.
  • Edit the Connection Manager editor and select the ODBC Data Provider
  • Configure the Connection Manager to use your DSN or connection string
  • Add a Data Flow Task to your package.
  • Add a Data Reader Source adapter to your data flow"

Any help getting the DataReader Source to appear in the BIDS toolbox appreciated.

Thank you and a Happy time with family tomorrow,

Using Conditional Split data Transfer in SSIS 2008

This article uses the Integration Services Conditional Split Data Transformation element to filter and transfer data from a set of flat text files to SQL Server database table. The concept can be easily extended to apply to any other source or destination such as Microsoft Excel. This scenario is useful in creating denormalized database tables in a reporting and analysis situation.

Flow documents offer enormous flexibility in arranging text layout and pagination, but they don't support data binding, so you can't dynamically change content. Here we build a component to solve that problem.

review, edit and insert data using 2 diffrent database

is it possible to create a custom list in sharepoint designer to enter a vacation request and using a work flow that goes to the HR department. but when the HR department approve the request the HR can store these requested data into another database?

what i mean is, the employee fill a form in to request some vacation days using a custom list in my wss3 site. i assume that these data will be stored in the WSS_content database. now when the HR department get this filled form they have to store the data of the form in to a database but not in the WSS_Content database.

is this possible?

How to detect that a Data Flow Task has failed (from inside a custom componet)

Hi, in the PostExecute Method of a custom component i would like to check if the Data Flow Task has been failed. Is that possible? Also it would be great to be able to check if this custom component already got all data or has been marked as "green".  Thanks, Dennis

Custom SSIS Data Flow Component Not Showing in Toolbox or GAC

Hello - I have created a very simple data flow component for SSIS (Actually, I am following this example:  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=1C2A7DD2-3EC3-4641-9407-A5A337BEA7D3&displaylang=en).  However, when I register the DLL to the GAC, I am unable to find the assembly in C:\Windows\Assembly - even though the GACUTIL says "Assembly Registered Successfully".  Furthermore, after copying the DLL to the PipelineComponents folder for SSIS (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\PipelineComponents), it does not show in the "Choose Items . . ." dialog box of SSIS.   I am running SQL Server 2008 Dev edition, Visual Studio 2010 with .NET 4.0, and Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit edition.  Any assistance/thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Data flow task with multiple destinations randomly hangs

I have a package whose control flow consisting of a single data flow task with multiple destinations continues to hang at random locations.  The data flow task is fairly simple: - One OLE DB source (one query of selecting about 10 fields from one table) - 9 lookups that serve basically as left joins to capture which data "drops off" (does a row redirect on on lookup errors to an "error flow") - Two destinations: one the captures all the data that doesn't drop off from the lookups, and another to capture the data that does drop off; these write to two tables unrelated to each other, and unrelated to any of the tables I'm reading from I have tried the following: - Changed one or both destinations from OLE DB to flat file -- still randomly hangs - Removed both destinations altogether -- this always suceeds.   - Removed destination A and leave destination B -- this always succeeds - Removed destination B and leave destination A -- this always succeeds I took great care in making sure I get no warnings when the package runs, even resolving the unneeded column warnings, and the duplicate keys on all my lookups, but it still hangs. However, once I give up and stop the package, the following error is thrown (among others that appear to be a byproduct of the root issue): Error: 0xC02020C4 at Data Flow Task, OLE_SRC AP12 [1]: The attempt to

SQL Server 2008 R2 BIDS PageHeader's PrintOnFirstPage=False Not Behaving Like SQL Server 2008 BIDS

I have recently upgraded from SQL Server 2008 SP2 Enterprise edition to 2008 R2 Enterprise, and was in the process of validating that the process did not have any adverse affects on my existing 150 reports originally designed and managed via BIDS 2008. Several reports were designed where the first page has a header different from the rest of the pages.  I created the generic header in the PageHeader and set PrintOnFirstPage to False.  This worked great in 2008...but in 2008 R2 the real estate on the first page is not "freed," so the first page looks like it has an enormous top margin when rendered as a PDF. Even playing around with the visibility of the text box doesn't eliminate the whitespace - and setting visibility properties was not required to get it to work in SQL Server, which rendered as a PDF perfectly just yesterday before our upgrade! I noticed that there were three patches available, but I did not see a Fix available that addressed this issue, therefore I did not install them as advised on the site. Is there any way to do free up the real estate so my first page can use it (maybe a setting in 2008 R2 that wasn't there for 2008)? Or is this a known bug between the two and a patch/hotfix is in the works? I'd hate to have reports that were specifically designed with certain paging to have to be revisited one by one. Thank you fo
