FTP task remote variable.

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I am using the FTP task.

I have set remote variable to true and populated a variable with "/path".

I am now getting an error saying that the variable does not start with  "/".

This is driving me mad. I can not solve it!

SSIS FTP Task Variable Remote Path invalid

I am working on the SSIS FTP Task that transfer file from one FTP server to local location, rename the file name, and finally transfer the renamed file to another FTP server. So I defined 2 FTP tasks.

For the FTP file receive operation, I need the remote path to be updated by a script and pass to the user define variable. So I set TRUE to IsRemotePathVariable. In the RemoteVariable, I set User::FTPSourcePath where the variable is set in the script with "/DMFTP/filename1.jpg"

For the FTP file send operation, I set TRUE to IsRemotePathVariable. In the RemoteVariable, I set User::FTPDestPath where the variable is set in the script with "/DestFTP/"

After all the setting, the FTP Task box show me the error as "Variable "FTPSourcePath" doesn't start with "/". Another FTP box show me "Variable "FTPDestPath" doesn't start with "/"

Can anyone help me on this problem?? Thanks.

Problem assigning a value to a variable in a Script Task

I've found loads of posts with the error I'm seeing: "The type of the value being assigned to variable [XXX] differs from the current variable type". However, I can't see anything that matches my scenario.  I'm simply trying to assign a value to a variable BEFORE passing the variable to an Execute SQL Task. I want to assign "true" or "false" to a Boolean variable called LogError, but as I got this error, I tried instead to assign 0 or 1 to it after converting it to an Int16 variable, but got the same result. I can see all manner of posts that make me wonder what I may have problems with next when I try to pass this variable to my stored proc that's expecting a BIT, but for now, I'd love SSIS to simply assign the value to the variable! Any ideas?

SSIS Script Task wait for remote process completion - WMI & C#

Hi All: I have a C# script task that uses WMI to create a process on a remote machine. What is the best way for me to make the script task wait until the remote process has completed before moving to the next task in SSIS? TIA!

How would I set a Enviroment Variable on Several remote Machines from one Application

I think my title covers the high level, but for indepth; i need to be able to connect to a machine through and ip and set a enviroment variable, i have over 60 machines in different states all on one network that i need to do this for as well as someother things for the machine. currently this is being done through a PCEXEC command in a batch file they want more control on how this operates. I just really have no idea where to even start looking for the enviroment variable change(setting one on a machine that the app is running is simple we all know that. but on a external machine im lost) on a remote machine. any one have any ideas.

How to get the Package level Variable collections (Global Variable) in Script Task

Hi All,

I have the requirement like read all the Variables in Script Component Task, which includes variables available at package level and their values, global variables declared at package.

Currently are two ways to read the variables but which are not suitable for my requirement

1) Mentioning the variables at Script designer window as ReadOnlyVariables or ReadWriteVariables

Calling remote batch file using Execute Process Task

The requiement is to create excel file. I cannot run this code using SSIS vbscript task because this requires Microsoft.Office.Interop DLL which can not be installed on the dev / prod server. Hence using the SQL task the data exported to excel.

But now the excel is required to be updated to merge some cells. The approach we are thinking is to keep VBS file with required code to UNC path. Keep the BAT file running VBS file using CSCRIPT command in same location. Call the BAT file from SSIS package using Execute Process Task. This approach is tested in local system and also works on dev server. But somehow the sample code used to create excel is not creating excel to UNC path.

VBS code below

Const xlSaveChanges = 1
Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
objExcel.Visible = False
objExcel.Cells(1, 1).Value ="Test value"

The BAT used to call above VBS file is given below

cscript \\server.com\folder$\Demo\Excelfile.vbs

The above UNC path is used in execute process task package which runs fine. But the file is not yet created.

Setting up a variable for a Bulk Insert Task in a For Each Loop

Is it possible to set up variables in a Foreach Loop for a Bulk Insert Task?

The Bulk Insert Task works fine without using a variable. But I have many file so I need to set the variable inside the Foreach Loop to read files one by one.

Everything I've tried keeps failing. I set my Destination and Source connections and then in the Bulk Insert Task Editor set up the expression with the variable that I have decalared (str_SourceFullName), and then set the bulk insert task delayValidation property to true and it keeps failing...I have tried almost changing every setting but it does not pick up the value of the variable.

I even tried to using an ActiveX Script Task by using the following script to pick up the variable, but the ActiveX Script errors out as well. Here is the ActiveX code:

Dim connmgr As ConnectionManager = Dts.Connections("Dialog2010.txt")

connmgr.ConnectionString = Dts.Variables("User::str_SourceFileName").Value.ToString()

 Has anyone had this problem?

pass datetime variable into execute sql task which has stored procedure

Hi all

I have a stored procedure something like this exec sp_name startdate, enddate. I have to run this in an ssis package.

The startdate and enddate values are loaded from a sql query, so i have declared variables (startdate,enddate) and got those values from the query using evaluateasexpression. Now, when i call the stored procedure in execute sql task it fails as the datatype from the variable is string and the stored procedure parameter (startdate,enddate) are datetime. Please help me.

The following are my settings in execute sql task editor

SQL statement : EXEC sp_name ?,?

parameter mapping

variablename: user::startdate

Direction: Input

data Type: Date

Parameter name : 0

Parameter size : -1

Local variable scoping in C#

In my previous post, Compiler-generated scopes for local variable declarations, I briefly touched on the issue of multiple meanings applied to the same name. In this post, I'll aim to flush out the compiler's rules with regards to binding names in their local scopes.

Compiler-generated scopes for local variable declarations

I was tasked with understanding and fixing a bug on error reporting with foreach iteration variables the other day, and it got me thinking about local variable scoping rules in C# in general. First, the bug.

Retrieving a variable from a previous page

I'm looking to have a search page where a user will select an item from a listview, then then taken to another page that wil display data based on their original selection.

A user will type in a string and be presented with a list of usernames that are like that string, when they select a user name who's profile they would like to view I would like the page that they're taken to, to be that users profile.

How would I transfer the variable from the search page to the profile page, and when I work on the profile page, how can I access that variable?

Embeb a variable number of videos

I need to provide some alternate content for my non-Flash users.

I have a directory of video files that is scanned using the DirectoryInfo() function, and I want to use the results to embed all files ending in ".mov" in QuickTime players on a web form.

How would you approach this? Right now I am using the count on the array of videos to determine how many times to repeat the embed code.  But this seems inelegant.

Is there a way to have a single QuickTime player.ascx control that gets duplicated according to the number of videos available for display?

Hidden variable has no value

I know I have a valid solution, but the js is telling me that the value in the hdnRecordSaved variable has no value!
Even when I specify in my function the following, it still tells me it has no value:
var myTextField = document.getElementById('hdnRecordSaved');

When I put the full value of the variable in (ctl00_ctl00_cphTopCenter_cphCenter_hdnRecordSaved.value), I get the correct contents back ("1"), which I set in my code behind. However, I would prefer to just put the short name in since the masterpages may change, etc. Unfortunately, I know I can get around this with VS2010, but we are using VS2008.

What am I doing wrong with the js naming conventions that can't give me the contents? Here is my below js.

<asp:Panel ID="pnlMapFields" runat="server" ScrollBars="Both" Height="430px">

<telerik:RadTreeView ID="RadTreeView1" runat="server" DataTextField="Description"

DataFieldParentID="MapFieldparentID" DataF

VS2010 Professional .NET 4.0 Remote Debugging ASP Website Project

Trying to remote debug ASP website from VS2010 Pro to Windows Server 2003 machine.  Specifically, trying to debug a Web Service, but breakpoint says, "The breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document."  This happens for all compiled code though.  I have read this is due to missing PDB files and the work around is to manually copy them, as noted here.  Problem is, I cannot find any PDB files for my project, except referenced libraries, which I can remote debug.

  • web.config has <compilation debug="true">
  • Debugger is attached to wewp.exe process on remote server
  • Installed VS2010 remote debugger from DVD (as I can remote debug referenced libraries)

This is beyond frustrating.  I migrated my code from VS2008 .Net3.5 to VS2010 .Net4.0 to take advantage of the inherent multithreading framework.  Debugging works when using local host and was stable until deployment to test server.

Thanks in advance,
