Problem installing Cumulative Update 6 for SQL 2008 SP1 on Windows XP

I am attempting to apply SQL Server 20008 SP1 Cumulative Update 6 on my Windows XP desktop. The update executable is unpacked and I get a brief flash of a Command Screen and then nothing. I have searched for any update files but have not found any. My Desktop Configuration: Windows XP SP3, Windows Installer 4. SQL Server 2008 SP1 Developer Edition. I am also attempting to install the Client Tools for SQL 2008R2 on this same desktop and am getting the same results. I click on SETUP and get a brief flash of the Command Screen and the installation does not continue. Internet searches speak of a problem with a registry entry in the Boostrap Key for a valid Setup directory, but this key exists in my desktop registry. Thanks,

Error in installing .Net framework 3.5 and 3.5 SP1 on Windows XP

Hi all,

I tried to install .Net framework 3.5 downloaded from microsoft on a Windows XP  SP2 machine.
With .Net Framework Verifier, I verified the frameworks 1.1. SP1 and 2.0 SP2 and 3.0 SP2 to be OK.

The framework 3.5 installs without error message.
However, the verification gives an error:
[04/23/09,17:14:42] Detected operating system: Windows XP (x86)
[04/23/09,17:14:53] File C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\WPF\XamlViewer\XamlViewer_v0300.exe is not installed on the system
[04/23/09,17:14:53] File C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\WPF\XamlViewer\XamlViewer_v0300.exe.manifest is not installed on the system

[04/23/09,17:14:54] Verification failed for product .NET Framework 3.5

Then the installation of Framework 3.5 SP1 breaks off with the following error:

[04/23/09,17:45:59] Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 'package': [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 'package'. MSI returned error code 1603

any help appreciated

Cannot update Windows, Microsoft. NET Framework 3.5 sp1 not functioning.

Okay, I'm a real technophobe and I'm running around in circles trying to work out what's wrong with my pc.  Here goes...

I have Microsoft.Net Framework 3.5 SP1 in my programmes.  I am using Microsoft Windows version 6.6.6001.  Windows Vista Home Premium 6.1. SP 1.  32 bit.  I received the following on 30/04/09, hotfix for Msft.NET(KB9535???).  A hotfix was updated on 19/05/2010 (KB960884)

I have had numerous errors... Intel Graphics Kernel Mode Driver G33/G31 (1gdkmd32.sys-knackered).  Windows will not update whatsoever (80072EFD).  Error (0x8DDD002)  Msft Windows Capi 2 caused a crash.  Microsoft is not able to establish a connection on port www Service HTTP with this computer.  Proxy won't let Firefox install.  Internet Expolrer tells me it can't open a page- I press the back button and it opens it?  These are just a few of the problems I have been experiencing with my machine.

I have tech support from a microsoft support site but despite sending system information, error logs and snapshots I'm getting nowhere.  I have even paid to have my registry cleaned, I have used TDS killers, (even though my anti-virus tells me everything is sweet,) I have renamed something, (can't remember what,) I have reset everything to default status and even performed a system restore

Installing .Net Framework 3.5 onto Windows 7 Ultimate

I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed with SQLServer 2008 and Visual Studio 2010.

.Net Framework 4 - Client Profile, Extended and Multi-targeting pack are also installed.

All is working just fine!

I need to install .Net Framework 3.5 plus the SP1 for an earlier project and tools that target 3.5 AND I have no way to change that.

When I run the dotNetFx35setup.exe, it seams to start then just disappears. No error message or anything else.

I assume there is a conflict in installing an old version of .Net framework (3.5) with the latest (4.0) already installed.

Please advise.

Update to .NET 3.5 SP1 Released (Dynamic Data Entity Framework Issue Fixed)

An update to .NET 3.5 SP1 has been recently released, you can search for KB959209 in the Microsoft Knowledgebase. Here is a direct link to the article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959209. This update is important for Dynamic Data users that are using the Entity Framework as it corrects the problem that the RTM version of Dynamic Data had with certain types of relationships with Entity Framework. This can been seen with 1->0..1 and *->1 relationships which may generate error messages like "'System.Web.UI.WebControls.EntityDataSourceWrapper' does not contain a property with the name 'Orders.OrderID'". Download and install this update to correct this issue.

Security Update for .Net Framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7x86(KB244709) Failed

A security update was pushed out on our network a couple of weeks ago, but one user is getting this error.

I checked that the user is running Windows 7 32 bit.

I attempted to manually install the download from the microsoft page: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=157aa425-953c-4fc9-ab76-4e65d4be8baa&displaylang=en (making sure that I chose the Windows6.1-KB2446709-x86.msu version

I tried running the .msu download, still failed

I tried saving the .msu download to C:\224709 and running the installation from the command line with the following commands

  • expand -f:* "C:\224709\Windows6.1-KB224709-x86.msu" %TEMP%
  • pkgmgr.exe /n:%TEMP%\Windows6.1-KB244709-X86.xml

When I ran the above pkrmgr.exe command an error message popped up saying "Operation Failed: The Component Store has been corrupted"

Just to see if it would still install from the command line anyway I tried the following on the command line

  • wusa.exe C:\224709\Windows6.1-KB224709-x86.msu

Windows installer windows pops up and it begins the installation, but fails part way through and comes up with the same error "Security Update for .N

Visual Studio closes itself by opening aspx-Page designer after Windows Update

Hey Guys,

There is no error message just closing the window. I can't disable windows updates, cause it's my pc at work and safety is very important. I hope you could help me out of this disaster.

Word Automation Issue in Windows Server 2008 Hosting

The problem I am posting here is that I was facing nearly 2 weeks around. Any body comes with this stuff please help.

Word Automation in sample ASP.NET(C#) application.

I am using Microsoft.Office.Inetrop.Word Assembly for automation. Here I am reading a XXX.dot template file and fill the contents with dynamic data.

When i am executing my code in localhost:someportnumber the automation is working fine and I could get expected result and when I am hosting in my inetmgr(Windows XP is my OS) it is also working fine.

But the problem is that when I am hosting in my production server(Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition) I am not able to perform automation and results in the following error.

Data: System.Collections.ListDictionaryInternal
Message: Word has encountered a problem.
Source: Microsoft Word

The code gets failed in the following line:

ApplicationClass wordApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.ApplicationClass();

Document wordDoc = wordApp.Documents.Add(ref oTemplate, ref oFalse, ref oMissing, ref oMissing); // Error in this line

I cannot able to proceed further. Can anybody please help me in solving this issue?

Thank you.

Safety in Windows: Manage Access to Windows Objects with ACLs and the .NET Framework

Until now, Microsoft did not provide explicit support in the .NET Framework for manipulating security settings. With the .NET Framework 1.x, access can only be granted to users via a series of cumbersome P/Invoke calls. By introducing the concepts of security objects and rules, the .NET Framework 2.0 allows developers to manipulate security settings of objects in a few easy steps using managed code. Mobility: Add Keyboard Support to Compact Framework Apps by Trapping Windows Messages

The Compact Framework Control class doesn't provide direct access to Windows messages. However, with P/Invoke, a few lines of native code, and the Compact Framework MessageWindow class, it's still possible to access underlying Windows messages. This can be used to work around any .NET Framework features, including keyboard support, that are not included in the Compact Framework.

Windows Shell: Create Namespace Extensions for Windows Explorer with the .NET Framework

Extending the Windows shell with namespace extensions allows you to create some custom functionality for Windows Explorer. One common use is to enable Explorer to present a list of items that do not exist in one real folder, but actually reside in a number of places. The view on the folder makes it look like these items are in one place, so managing them becomes easier. This article illustrates the process of creating custom shell namespace extensions using C# and the .NET Framework. The author dispels some myths about the difficulty of writing such extensions, and shows that it is easier than it was before .NET. Along the way he outlines undocumented interfaces and describes advanced techniques for consuming them in .NET.
