more than one endpoint configuration for that contract was found

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

Hi,

This post is in continuation to the following post

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1395496&SiteID=1&mode=1

I could resolve the later.  however after binding with namedpipe, I tried now to add an endpoint on tcp. hence I updated the host config file to the following

<configuration>

<system.serviceModel>

<services>

<service behaviorConfiguration="metadataSupport" name="WCFServiceComponent.DemoClass"

An endpoint configuration section for contract 'xxx' could not be loaded because more than one end

Hello,

I'm trying to test calling a webservice, I've found several free ones on http://webserviceshare.com, but none of them work for me.  Some of them give example calling code in C# which I've translated to VB.NET, they're typically just two to four lines, I don't think I've translated them incorrectly.

On that I've tried is US Zip Validator.  I added a Service Reference to http://www.webservicemart.com/uszip.asmx?WSDL, called ZipService.

I then call it like so:

            Dim myZipService As ZipService.USZipSoapClient = New ZipService.USZipSoapClient()
            Dim myCity As String = myZipService.ValidateZip("27707")

I get the following error on the first line of code:

"An endpoint configuration section for contract 'ZipService.USZipSoap' could not be loaded because more than one endpoint configuration for that contract was found. Please indicate the preferred endpoint configuration section by name."

Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'CurrencyProxy.CurrencyServiceSoap

Hi,

I created 2 projects in my solution:

  1. Classic asp.net web service (asmx)
  2. Class library project which references service
  3. web site project which references class library project
  4. Windows app project which references service.

Both projects were created in 3.5 framework and in Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2.

I added web service reference to Class library project. When it asked for namespace I typed "CurrencyProxy". Projects build ok, but when I run web app, Class library throws an error: Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'CurrencyProxy.CurrencyServiceSoap' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this contract could be found in the client element.

I believe it has something to do with app.config in Class library project. Here is part from app.config:

 <system.serviceModel>
<bindings>
<basicHttpBinding>
<binding name="CurrencyServiceSoap" closeTimeout=

Membership.ValidateUser "The serviceUri configuration setting was not found."

Hello everybody!

I use Membership.ValidateUser to check user credentials, but when I do so, I get the following ArgumentException: "The serviceUri configuration setting was not found." I just can't understand what is the problem here.

Here is a part from my Web.config:

Endpoint not found Exception

Hi,    I Have created Services in WCF application and hosted in windowservice application. Application has build succesfully. And I have installed the .exe file through command prompt. But the problem is when proxy object call's from client side it throws following exception.   Could not connect to net.tcp://localhost:8073/Service1/. The connection attempt lasted for a time span of 00:00:00.9218750. FAST non-admin configuration - middleware.cfg not found?!

I'm stuck with an interesting error as i try to configure a non-admin FAST search node.  Admin configuration was successful, with deployment.xml referencing the 2ndary server, as noted in the install_info.txt I'm repeatedly receiving this same error in the non-admin configuration error log: C:\FASTSearch\bin\MonitoringServiceConfig.exe" Output - Error: The file 'C:\FASTSearch\etc\middleware.cfg' was not found. This file is in the Admin FASTSearch\etc folder, but not on the this new server i'm attempting to add to the farm.  Best i can tell there is some sort of communication issue between the two servers, but i havent been able to discover what it is?! Running the install by the install script throws a communication error related to possible ipsec issues.

Debugger endpoint configuration

When I started my current project, I was relatively new and followed the default WCF template closely as a result.  For a while I was running it in the Visual Studio debugger, which allowed me to develop the WCF service without having to worry about deployment.  As such, I never really had to deal with web.config.Then I got to the point where I tried deploying it, and things got messy.  Long story short, I tried hosting it in a windows service, ran into some problems with regards to endpoint configuration, and had to mess around with web.config quite a bit.  After some learning I decided it would be best to do a rollback to before I had even created the windows service, and start again with a fresh windows service.I've removed the windows service and its installer from my solution, and I decided to try and run the WCF service in the debugger.  However, this did not work, and I got an error page stating the following:  No protocol binding matches the given address 'http://0.0.0.0:54467/RUSServer.svc'. Protocol bindings are configured at the Site level in IIS or WAS configuration. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.  Exception Details: System.InvalidOperationException: No protocol binding matches the given address 'h

Could not find default endpoint element that references contract

There are so many questions floating around here on this topic and here is one more. I am consuming a customer's webservice through a class library and this class is referenced from a web application. When I save a form on the web page, it will call the class which will consume this webservice and send data across. But I am getting the error when I save the form. I have a feeling that their service is on https instead of http.

RESTful WCF Service endpoint not being found by client

I created a RESTful WCF service which I plan to call from a client app (a custom toolpart in a Sharepoint web part), but while I can access everything just fine from a browser the client throws this error:

EndpointNotFoundException: There was no endpoint listening at http://mymachine:3217/Services/CtmsService.svc that could accept the
message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.
---> System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

My service's contract looks like this:

[ServiceContract]
public interface ICtmsService
{
  [OperationContract]
  [WebGet(UriTemplate = "/GetAllSites")]
  Dictionary<string, int?> GetAllSites();
}
...and the configuration looks like this: (which is more complicated due to needing dependency injection via Spring.NET to work)

Could not find default endpoint element that references contract IService1 in the ServiceModel clien

Hi,

I am getting the above error. When I try to generate the proxy using svcutil, I get an error  as:

"There was an error importing a wsdl:binding that the wsdl:port is dependent on"..

But the proxy .cs file is generated.

The host is running perfectly and I can view the wsdl.

Can someone help me out with this ?

Also is there any example available somewhere that I can use. I tried using MSDN Virtual lab example but I am getting the same error with it too.

Thanks,

Akhil Jindal

"Could not find default endpoint element that references contract " @ Expression Blend @ Design Time

so, in Expression Blend, and only there, during design time i get an error:

"System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled by user code

Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'GBAUploadService.IGBAUploadService' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this contract could be found in the client element."

this doesn't happen in Visual Studio 2010, and of course the service itself works flawlessly.

any ideas?

the code triggering the exception is part of a ObjectDataProvider, which consumes a web service in code-behind:

  public class FileGroupsDataProvider
  {
    public BaseUploadJob[] GetFileGroups()
    {
      if (Assembly.GetEntryAssembly() != null)
      {
        using (GBAUploadServiceClient gbaUploadServiceClient = new GBAUploadServiceClient())
        {
          BaseUploadJob[] baseUploadJobs = gbaUploadServiceClient.GetFileGroups();
          return baseUploadJobs;
        }
      }
      return null;
    }
  }

Custom trace listener class cannot be found via configuration

Hello everyone!

I have the following problem.

I created a simple trace listener class, which is derived from ConsoleTraceListener.

namespace TestUtils

{

  public class FormattedListener : ConsoleTraceListener

  {

  }

}

I added it in to app.config file:

...

    <sharedListeners>

...

      <add name="formattedListener"

       type="TestUtils.FormattedListener"

       initializeData="formattedOutput.csv"

       traceOutputOptions="DateTime" />

...

    </sharedListeners>
...

But when I run the program, it shows error at start: Couldn't find type for class TestUtils.FormattedListener.

The class is included in my executable, and I can create it manually in code.

Please tell me what should I do to register the class properly.

Thanks,

Vlad

The pipe endpoint net.pipe://localhost.......... could not be found on your local machine

I am facing a problem getting metadata using named pipes. I saw a thread titled "

How to create named pipe WCF EXE using net.pipe" at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wcf/thread/168d7de1-d0f8-4f67-b989-d0746e76bec0?prof=required.

I have a service with a config file which I think it has all necessary config to respond to net.pipe requests (at the end of this thread) byt still getting the same error

"There was no endpoint listening at net.pipe://localhost/WCFService1 that cou
ld accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP acti
on. See InnerException, if present, for more details.

(system.IO.PipeException) The pipe endpoint 'net.pipe://localhost.......... could not be found on your local machine'"

?

In spite of the fact that the service is running in the console, using HTTP works fine.

?

Here is the config file :

<configuration>
<system.web>
<compilation debug="true" />

Handling 404 page not found with Error page

Hi,

      How do i handle 404 page not found?

scripts file not found on server - 404

Fiddler is showing a 404 error when my published web application runs. the jquery.js file in
/scripts is highlighted in red by fiddler as not found. ( IIS log also shows the 404 error ).
I run the web app from visual studio, on local host - no problems. The publish is successful.
All the files are in the scripts folder of the web app on the server.

In the site.master I have:
<script src="../../Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Visual studio does not complain about this. ( which indicates the file is found. )

Oddly, when I fully qualify the path, VS says file not found, but after I publish and run, fiddler
shows the jquery file being found and sent to the browser.
<script src="/MvcApplication1/Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

when the <script> path is "../../Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js", the fiddler error is
404: /Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js .

when the <script> path is "/MvcApplication1/Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js", fiddler shows the file
being sent to the browser from that /MvcApplication1/Scripts path.

Both the Scripts fol
