Customize failure text for login control

Hi all,

I would like to show the failure text in a client-side alert box for login control in c#. Please help me if there is an easy way to convert it from vb.net to c#.net. Thanks a lot!

Protected Sub Login1_LoginError(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Login1.LoginError
'Display the failure message in a client-side alert box
ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(Me.GetType(), "LoginError", _
String.Format("alert('{0}');", Login1.FailureText.Replace("'", "\'")), True)

 End Sub

 Converted, but it doesn't work.

protected void Login1_LoginError(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
    //Display the failure message in a client-side alert box
    ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "LoginError", string.Format("alert('{0}');", Login1.FailureText.Replace("'", "\\'")), true);

Dropdown control issue while selecting the value in IE8.

I am facing an issue while selecting a dropdown list value in IE8.

In IE8, while selecting the item in the dropdown list, the control goes out of focus immediatley when clicked for the list of items to select.It makes very hard for the user to select the value from dropdown list.

This dropdown control has some CSS settings enabled for it. I am not sure if this is an issue.

Any suggestions/ideas on this issue.

Trying to incorporate the use of a dropdown list control with a grid view control

I'm trying to setup a page that will utilize a dropdown list control inside of a grid view control using VS 2005 2.0 version. Everything that I can find online seems to only show the use of the dropdown list control using a data grid. I don't want to use a data grid because it doesn't have the functionality/ power as the grid view control. Can someone please tell me how I can incorporate a dropdown list control with the grid view control? Here is a copy of my code.

<asp:GridView ID="HardwareSetdv" runat="server" AllowPaging="True"
        AllowSorting="True" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataKeyNames="AcctID"
            <asp:CommandField ShowSelectButton="True" />
            <asp:BoundField DataField="HardwareSetID" HeaderText="HardwareSetID"
                InsertVisible="False" ReadOnly="True" SortExpression=&quo

retrieve username from login control to pass it on as a parameter for poplulation of dropdown box.

Hi guys,

Would appreciate some help with this.

after a successful login I'd like to retrieve the users' name via C# and pass the name on as a parameter to populate a dropdown box or a grid view on the redirected page.

To authenticate a user I use the asp.net login control and I saw that I have access to several properties and methods but can't see text or value to just get the name back and pass it on for further processing.

Am I thinking wrong here?

Any hint on how to accomplish this is much appreciated.

Asp.net dropdown control for DVWP

Using SharePoint designer 2010 with SharePoint 2010 foundation.

An asp.net dropdown control is being used to filter a DVWP. When I click the dropdown arrow on the right of the dropdown control I can see all the various items from which to select. I can use the up or down arrow on the keyboard to select the proper item and then press enter and the corresponding record is displayed in the DVWP. When I try to use the mouse to select the item in the dropdown I can see the choices but when I try to click on the selection the choices disappear. The dropdown reverts back to it's original state. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Six easy ways to customize your site using Web Parts in SharePoint

Becoming familiar with Web Part customization techniques gives you a range of page-customization choices. For example, you can customize your site's home page so that it displays the specific information that your team needs. You can rearrange the list items on the home page, add lists, and even change the images on the home page. As you become more familiar with Web Part Page customization techniques, you can build interactive Web Part Pages that makes the data in lists more dynamic and useful, and you can add new Web Parts that provide access to external data and Web services.

Adding Dynamic Rows in ASP.NET GridView Control with TextBoxes and with Delete functionality

In my previous examples, I have demonstrated on how to add dynamic rows in GridView control with TextBoxes and how to save the values into the database. Now, seems that most of the developers are asking if how to add a delete functionality with it. So in this example, I'm going to show on how to delete a certain row in the dynamic GridView with TextBoxes.

Accessing the different controls inside a GridView control

how we can access a particular control which resides inside a GridView control. In this article I will show you how you can access different controls inside a GridView control. We will see how we can access a TextBox control, a DropDownList control and a ListBox control. If you are working with ASP.NET 1.X then you might want to check out my article Accessing Different Controls Inside a DataGrid.

In-Depth look at the GridView Control

In the last article we looked at few of the new controls available in Asp.net 2.0. We also talked about Grid View Control which has replaced the Asp.net 1.1 DataGrid control for good. In this article we will examine more features of the Grid View control. In this article we will see some of the common operations that can be performed using the GridView control. Apart from these operations there are many more functions that can be performed on the control and which we will see in the later articles

ASP.NET repeater control - databind with style

even used the inline editing features, which I at the time thought was the coolest way possible to write ASP.NET code ( I managed to write code to hide all other rows and only show the current one - the row being edited). With a nice looking EditTemplate it looked indeed very slick but it really turned into giant and hard to manage code behind files.
