how to deploy web service in sharepoint 2010 using build and deploy ?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

in MOSS 2007, I used to use WSPBuilder utility and add web service as web service wspbuilder item to it. It helped to keep everything (WebParts, WebService...etc) together in the same project. All i had to do was WSPBuilder -> Build WSP and then Deploy.

Now in SharePoint 2010, how can i achieve similar scenario to deploy asp.net web service by just few clicks, i dont want to copy the dll to GAC, copy .asmx file etc.. manually.

 Any idea ?

Thanks.

Deploy and update script file with custom ribbon tab to Sharepoint Server 2010

Hey everyone,

currently I'm building a custom tab for Sharepoint Server 2010 and at the moment I'm stuck on the following issue,
with the first debug deployment Visual Studio sends the .js file that provides some functions for the ribbon elements from Scripts folder in the VS project
to Sharepoint Server.
However, it won't apply any changes I did on the script afterwards to the file on the server.
So the effect is, that as soon as I do the next debug, the previous script is being used by Sharepoint and the new version, containing the new code, is left aside.

It seems to me as if Visual Studio would only deploy the .js file just once and then rely to this copy, maybe there are some configuration settings to make, but after hours of research, I still can't figure out where things do go wrong or what configuration to apply to update the script on the server.
I couldn't locate the file on hdd either, even searched the whole fs but the results showed only the new script file.

Any help on this would be very much appreciated, this issue drives me nuts and consumes plenty of time ;)

Workaround at the moment: each time the script is changed, set up new project... :D

How to alter wsp(SharePoint 2007) to be able to deploy to SharePoint 2010

When I attempt to deploy my wsp(SharePoint 2007) to my SharePoint 2010 environment I am faced with an error inline with, Version 3 not supported on this installation, which is to be expected, I then recreated my wsp with all the 2010 references, built and again the same thing happened(version 3 not supported on this installation)

After this I created a new SharePoint project, added all the aspx pages in my wsp to the new solution(under site definition) built and deployd, this time it loaded the default.aspx, but it was blank(IE blank, not a blank SharePoint site)

I use the deafult.master page.

Cheers

Can I use visual studio 2010 to build and deploy 2007 solutions?

Actually I have some 2007 code someone gave me.  I haven't used those external wsp builders for a long time.  I don't know if I can just use vs 2010.

Sharepoint 2010 WSP Deployment problem. Can't deploy new files.

We have found a problem with our deployment to a production server that runs Sharepoint 2010 Publishing Site Collection.

We are deploying WSP packaged from Visual Studio to Sharepoint Management Shell. It has worked like a charm in the past. We added a custom masterpage, css files, images and later we successfully added custom page layouts.

I also have SP running locally on my computer and everything works fine with no problem adding new files via deploying Feature. I can add them neatly into a document library or even create new folders from the Elements file.

However the problem arise when I deploy my WSP to the production server. I want to add a few JS files and a XSL file to the Style Library but the files won't get added to the document library. The deployment process goes smooth though with no errors and when I check my feature in Sharepoint Hive, the new files are there on the physical drive! However they won't get added to the virtual Document Library.

I can update existing files like the masterpage and CSS files so the feature that is deployed is working.

My guess is that either it has to do with permission problems or some bug in my code. But I did exactly as we have done before when deploying.

This is how my Elements.xml file looks like:

Newbie SharePoint Enterprise 2010 "Activate feature" / deploy error...

Hi all...

I am a complete newbie to SharePoint.

I have installed VS2010 and SharePoint Enterprise 2010.

I am administrator on the server, I am db_owner on content DB, I am in the

WSS_ADMIN_WPG, I am a farm administrator and I am quite sure that I am the site

collection owner.

Aren´t these permissions the right ones for a developer or do I need anything?

When I deploy my solution from VS2010, I get a "
Error occurred in deployment step 'Activate Features': Feature with Id '8bafdda9-

e6cc-49da-9438-49b1f7be383e' is not installed in this farm, and cannot be added to

this scope."

Why do I recieve this error!?

Please help, before I turn mad! :-(

SharePoint 2010 Search Service Application: "All Content" scope contains 0 items?

I've encountered a nasty bug in our setup. Our Search Service Application manages to crawl all content just fine. However, the scopes don't work. We've got a total of 570 items currently in our crawl database. 350 of these are of class 'People', and appear in the 'People' scope. The remaining 220 items should appear in 'All Content' as part of the intra (sites, documents etc), however the 'All Content' scope reports 0 items. I've tried the following: -Creating custom scopes (still 0 items) -Recreating the Search Service Application twice -Tried different accounts as the content access account. -Ensuring that the content access accounts do have 'full read policy' -Checked the crawl log for successful content (such as sites and documents). However, despite my efforts I still get 0 items for 'All Content'.  Has anyone else encountered this problem, or do you have any recommendation for us? Currently I don't see any other option than to reinstall everything.

Can I deploy a custom site page from the VS2010 SharePoint project?

Hi We're setting up some demos of our sharepoint plugins and want to easily deploy these into sharepoint so that all members of the company can easily get the demos running on their own machines. This is fine for layouts, web parts and so on - but the demo also has a customised sharepoint home page (which I edited in SP Designer) - how do I make this edited home page part of the VS2010 project so that it can be deployed easily to any site collection?   Thanks

Target a Specific Site/Web using Deploy in VS 2010 IDE

If using a SharePoint Project's context menu option of "Deploy", is there a way to specify a target (given the scope of the Feature, etc.)? Thanks.
