Error connecting using SPSite

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 26, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Has anyone seen this error message?

The Web application at http://ecnet/Pages/Default.aspx could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application.

Errors on the line.

SPSite site = new SPSite("http://ecnet/Pages/Default.aspx");

It's a clean console application running on the SharePoint 2007 web server.

Any thoughts? I can't seem to connect to the Server like I used to in SharePoint 2003.

Error connecting to DB on different platforms

Hi there, We're having major issues deploying our applications on Windows 7 using a setup that has worked brilliantly on XP for some time now. We have MFC C++ applications that use the Microsoft.SQLSERVER.CE.OLEDB.3.5 provider present in MS ADO 2.5.  We install the CE 3.5 SP1 Redistributable as part of our application deployment and our databases are built on a PC with Windows XP and CE 3.5 SP1. When we install this onto a 32bit Windows 7 PC the application fails to connect to the database (and throws a rather obscure COM exception).  After a lot of time spent pulling our hair out the only thing we have found is that we can connect to databases built on a Windows 7 PC.  Why would there be a difference between the DBs built on two separate operating systems? Cheers, Chris.

Sharepoint + SSRS -Report Security??? An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report s

I am able to deploy reports and run them as the farm admin that I did the Grant entry for in CA > App Mgt > Reporting Services > Grant DB access.

However, my AD personal user that has Local admin on every server has integrated SA security to the SSRS and Sharepoint Database is a Farm admin get's this error trying to run the reoprts.

An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode.

Now if I log in as the farm admin ( the user I did the grant on) I can run and add the reports to the SSRS webpart... Am I going to have to add every user through that Grant feature? With integrated Sharepoint security there is no /reports virtual to decide what users can run  what reports so I'm not sure..

Some  other details.. I'm using Kerberos security, and CA > App mgt > Reporting Services > Manage integration mode is set to Trusted (not Windows).. otherwise .. I can't pull up Default settings under that Reporting Services section of CA.

Error connecting to SQL express - Visual Studio 2010

 Hi,

I recently installed Visual Studio 2010 and was getting the following error message when running the code (F5) "Error connecting to SQLexpress". The error page prevented me from seeing the webpage.

I consulted many different trouble-shooting recommendations, however, in my case, it was simply a problem with SQL. When I reinstalled SQL server 2008 on my computer, the error message was gone and I was able to see the ASP.net web development page.

Error occured when using SPWeb or SPSite in webpart

I am creating a custom webpart, in which I have a label control. This label will display the current site URL and here is the code

protected override void CreateChildControls()
        {
            base.CreateChildControls();
            SPWeb wb = SPContext.Current.Web;
            string baseURL = wb.Url.ToString();
            Label lblTitle = new Label();
            lblTitle.Text = baseURL.ToString();
        }

But when I try to use SPWeb or SPSite within CreateChildControl method, I am getting an unexpected error occurred message. Also I have used "using Microsoft.SharePoint;" too.

If suppose I comment those two line my web part is displaying the properly. As below

protected override void CreateChildControls()
        {
            base.CreateChildControls();
            //SPWeb wb = SPContext.Current.W

Error connecting to Web Service in C#

I am trying to access a web service and calling a method to pass my request parameters. I am programmatically setting my credentials, using:

service.Credentials =

When in the above code, I pass domain_url, I get this Web Exception in dialogue box while debugging.

Unable to automatically step into the server. Connecting to the server machine "ServerUrl" failed. Invalid access to memory location.

In the message property of the web exception I get "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized."

And when I do not pass domain_url, that is,

service.Credentials = new NetworkCredential("username", "password");

It does not

Linked Server: error connecting using link

I'm pretty much at wits end because I can't see anything that would cause the problem after searching through several blogs.

So my question is can anyone help me with a SS2008 link service to a SS2005 instance?

The scenario is this:::

I am having trouble with a SS2008 linked server connection to a SS2005 (limited install) server.  The SS2005 server has been running perfectly fine for the past few years and we are upgrading our development environments to SS2008.

The SS2005 BOUNCEBAK server is linked to by several of our other SS and Oracle databases and continues to work perfectly as a linked server to other servers.

The SS2008 server I am working with has working linked server connections to other SS2005 servers and is not giving any errors.  Named pipes is turned on and TCP is higher in the configuration order for communications protocols.

I have added a synonym name for the target server called BOUNCEBAK which is our company standard and is identical to what other servers have in their configuration.

I am able to connect to the BOUNCEBAK SS2005 server using the synonym in a management studio connection, so I'm pretty sure its not the synonym.

I have setup and verified by login a common user on the two servers (i.e. TestUser) with the same password on both (so as to make the test process simpler).&n

Error while connecting External List to SharePoint Workspace

Hi,

I have an external list in SharePoint 2010 which I want to take offline using SharePoint WorkSpace. Whilst logged into SharePoint I click the "Sync to SharePoint WorkSpace" button on the ribbon, select the views I want to take offline and off it goes.....

....however it errors and wont take offline the list.

Local event log shows:

Could not open connection using 'data source=VM1;initial catalog=AdventureworksLT;integrated security=SSPI;persist security info=false;pooling=false' in App Domain 'BCSSync'. The full exception text is: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

My login has the correct permissions on the DB, the BDC service app etc and I can view/edit the list throught the browser.

I'm baffled and not sure what to try next
