SharePoint RBS Solution

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Question - we are potentially looking at SQL 2008 RBS solution as part of our document management solution when we look to migrate our existing content over to SharePoint. We are planning that our teams (document management solution ) will each be a single site collection with one content db per team (site collection) for internal SLA and data recovery.

What we would therefore like to know is do we only need one RBS storage location in total (all web applications) or just one for each web application, or one per site collection content db?

How to create single wsp for multiple projects sharepoint 2010 solution

We have multiple projects (4 projects) in single sharepoint 2010 solution. We want to create single wsp deployment for this. But when I right click on any project, it creates package means wsp on its own. How to create single wsp for multiple projects sharepoint 2010 solution? Is wsp builder which we are using for sharepoint 2007 project (works really great) also works in sharepoint 2010?

Deploying and Using jQuery with a SharePoint 2010 Sandboxed Solution

If you're an avid reader of this blog, you probably now that I'm quite a big fan of the jQuery Javascript library, especially in combination with SharePoint sites. For a while I've been trying to find a mechanism to deploy jQuery and add a reference to it on all SharePoint pages of a site, by just using a Sandboxed Solution. The first part, deploying the jQuery file, is really easy; this can be done in a Module in a SharePoint project. The second part was more of a challenge; making sure the jQuery file got referenced in all pages of a SharePoint site. My initial thought was to do this by using the AdditionalPageHead Delegate control, but it's not possible in a Sandboxed Solution (you need to deploy the .ASCX to the SharePoint root). My second thought was to use the new ScriptSrc attribute you can use in a CustomAction (I wrote about this attribute some time ago). But initially I was under the impression that the ScriptSrc attribute could only target Javascript files loaded from the SharePoint Root (the \LAYOUTS) folder, resulting in a no-go for a Sandboxed Solution as well. Daniel McPherson stumbled upon this issue as well, but neatly solved it using Javascript to add the reference dynamically. But apparently you can make use of the ScriptSrc attribute to reference files from the Virtual File System (e.g. a Document Library in a site) as well! (thank you Frederic Dobon for men

Sharepoint Solution generator can not see any of the SharePoint sites

I am trying to generate site definition from SharePoint Solution Generator 2008.  on the second pane you are asked to select the site from a treeview showing all the sites on the server.  Nothing shows up.  I enter the URL manually for the site from which I want to create the site definition.  The next pane shows all of the lists on the site.  Then the final pane why trying to create the site definition, reports "No SharePoint site exists at the specified URL.", and errors out.  I have checked the permisions for the identity running the Solution Generator's application pool.  They are correct. I tried adding host headers to the site.  The site failed to restart.  I tried entering the site as a port 80. Instead I got "No SharePoint site exists at the specified URL." on pane 2. ERJ MCSD MCDBA

How to migrate sharepoint site in 2007 with custom solution package and its content to sharepoint 20

Hi Experts, Recently, my organization is planning for SharePoint 2010 upgrade. We decide to go with Database content migration as it is less impact with down time due to hardware and software requirement (64 bit) in SharePoint 2010. We have a sub-site which contains a lot of customization such as master page, custom list, web parts and a lot of content. There is also a solution was built for that sub-site as well. However, as the time past by there quite a few update and manual creating from power users which concern to me that the solution package that we have does not up to date that can be use for SharePoint 2010 upgrade. I am planning to re-package the solution for the upgrade with all the changes users made for SharePoint 2010. But the question is how do I migrate the content of existing site when we upgrade to 2010? It is also possible that they want to change the sturction of the site when migrate eg: make this new upgrade site as top site collection instead of sub-site. Another concern is what happen after I finish making re-package the solution but during the re-package period users might make more change to the existing site? I would greatly appreciate for any ideas, suggestions as well as best methodology I should take.   Thanks praneth

Working on a solution targeting SharePoint 2007 and 2010

I'm working on a SharePoint webpart which i'm targeting for both SharePoint 2007 as well as SharePoint 2010. I want to create a common build to make it work in both SharePoint 2007 and 2010. How should i do that? I'm working on Visual Studio 2010 and my dev environment has SharePoint 2007 installed.

Also, multiple developers may work in the same solution. Some of them have 2007 installed and some have SP 2010 installed. Will it work?

SharePoint Feature / Solution - Unassociate/Associate existing document libraries to a DLL

Previously we have a document library feature that contains a DLL.

Over time we have created document libraries using this feature, so document libraries created were associated to the DLL.

Now we need to change the solution to NOT include the DLL, but we found out that even though we retract / redeployed the solution without the DLL, those document libraries that were created is still calling/associated with the DLL.

Is there a way to unassociate/associate back the document library to the DLL?

Thank you for any help! :)

Can't deploy SharePoint solution even after changing Site Url property

I've developed a SharePoint 2010 solution in VS2010 and i've also deployed it on my site collection - everything works perfect, fine!

But when I try to deploy the same solution in another site collection (on local server not remote) by changing Site Url property of the solution to my new site collection, VS is not deploying the solution. I'm getting the following error:

Error 102 Error occurred in deployment step 'Recycle IIS Application Pool': Cannot connect to the SharePoint site: http://newsiteurl/. Make sure that this is a valid URL and the SharePoint site is running on the local computer. If you moved this project to a new computer or if the URL of the SharePoint site has changed since you created the project, update the Site URL property of the project.

I've packaged the solution and deployed it manually, it's working fine but i don't understand why i'm not able to deploy the solution on a different site collection on the same machine??

Does anyone else has experienced the same issue?

Thanks & Regards,
