Multiline Dynamic String Builder in SharePoint Workflow Designer

I am wanting to insert a newline or carriage return, or whatever, between two dynamic lookups inside the construct 'Dynamic String Builder'. Is this possible? The purpose of this activity in my sequential workflow is to append or concatenate the notes from each step into a multi-line string. I update the current notes into avariable called 'notesVariable', and then push it into a SP column called 'All Notes'. It works, but looks messy. Is this a bass-ackwards approach? Is there a 'best practice' that would look nicer?

Modify User in Collect Data from User Workflow

I've created a workflow with a Collect Data from User action that emails a Group when the task is created. Once the task is claimed by an individual, the Assigned To column in the task list is updated to display that person's name but once the task is completed the email variable for the action is not updated and the group is emailed instead of the person listed as Assigned To.

So the question is this: Is there a way to update the user varialbe in the workflow task once the task is completed, or would I need to build my own workflow and use the Send Email action?

Dynamic workflow with While activity

We have a very strange problem with WWF 3.5. All our workflows are loaded dynamically, i.e we have different  assemblies containing libraries of the workflows. We starting each workflow by specifying path to assembly and name of the workflow class in the assembly:     Assembly  workflowAssembly = Assembly.LoadFrom(path);     Type  workflowType = workflowAssembly.GetType(name ); We are creating work flow instance as following and execute starts:     WorkflowInstance instance =     workflowRuntime.CreateWorkflow(workflowType, dictParameters);      instance.Start(); Everything works just fine till it hits the While activity. Here workflow is terminated because of the exceptions. Interesting thing is that exceptions here are different depending on what work flow is doing. In case when loop execute sequence activity containing just code activity which increasing some index by 1 each iteration (what could be simpler!) exception is, providing as part of the WorkflowTerminatedEventArgs e: Exception    {"Error binding to target method."}    System.Exception {System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException}   When our assembly containing workflows has name  "TestLibPghWWF" and inside While activity, the sequence activity contains real,&

Trying to generate dynamic link to a document within approval workflow email message

In the out of the box approval workflow, the fields below are used to dynamically create a link within the email for a user to access the item/document to be reviewed:

Review [%TaskProcess:Item Title%].[%Variable: InternetLink%]

If I create an approval workflow and modify the text around what comes out of the box, the link works.  If I add those exact fields (period and space included) via the "Add or Change Lookup" box (field selector), it doesn't work. It displays the title as a link but without a document extension of XML (for Infopath form for instance).

I don't want to have to delete my workflow and recreate it just to get that link to work.

Any ideas on why the "[%TaskProcess:Item Title%].[%Variable: InternetLink%]" only works when it is created out of the box versus building the string manually ?

Change Dynamic Data database connection string

I have recently started to learn Dynamic Data Web application.

I have built a Dynamic data Website with LINQ data access layer. When the LINQ data context was built over an existing SQL2005 database, the connection string for that database was correctly, automatically, placed into the Settings and .edmx Code for the project. It works, but it's a "static" connection string.

I would like to be able to use this one LINQ data access layer against both test and production databases without having to manually change and recompile the project's connection string each time.

Is there a way to pass/change the User connection string to the LINQ data access layer at Run Time so that destination database changes? Ot in Other words How can user can choose a database from a list of databases.

Using dynamic data for approval workflow / Content staging.

Hello people!

Started evaluating dynamic data around a week back, so not sure if a thread exists for this query.

Has anyone used or evaluated Dynamic Data for implementing a Approval Workflow?

For Example-
Products Table- ProductName, UnitPrice, Discount, .... ...., State (Sumbitted = 1, Updated = 2, Approved = 3, Rejected = 4)

Each time a Product's Discount is updated, it goes for approval from Senior Management. And only after approval the Product gets its new price.

In my project, I have quite many entities that need approval before they can be accepted or updated.

Thanks in advance! :)

Using EXECUTE on dynamic SQL string containing scalar valued function with parameters

Using Workflow Initiation Form to Modify the Value of a Lookup Column in a List Using a Custom Looku

I am trying to develop a workflow and an associated initiation form that will allow a user to update a column in a list that is a lookup column. I have code working so that the lookup options are being properly pulled from the list and populated in the drop down on the initiation page. However after  completing the initiation page and starting the workflow, with a value selected in the lookup list, the value does not get properly updated; it appears to be updating with a null value.

The following is my code for the XOML and Initiation ASPX file. The name of the Lookup Column is "Primary Technical Category" with an XSLT name of "Primary_x0020_Technical_x0020_Ca." The Initiation Variable is also Called Primary Technical Category (PrimaryTechnicalCategory without spaces as SPD renames it).

I would greatly appreciate any assistance!

Thanks, Michael
