Need help in SPD creating looping workflow

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I'm trying to create a process (very simple) where the workflow is checking a document for a review date (sharepoint field). When the review date = today, it should send an email to an owner (field in SharePoint). After the owner reviews the file, they will enter a new review date, and the workflow should stay open and continue to check if the review date = today. I've been reading lots of posts and online help and still cannot get this to work, any help or ideas are appreciated.

Assigning users when creating a list item in a workflow

I'm using a workflow to assign tasks to users.  When I try to assign the task to a group (set in the workflow designer), the workflow gives me an error.  When I change the assign to property to a single user, the workflow works perfectly.  How do I get the workflow to assign the task to the group?  Or if that's not possible, can I get it to assign it to more than one user?

Sharepoint Designer: Pointers on creating a Workflow

Hi all

Can someone give me some pointers on how to create this (simplified) workflow?

When an Item is created in a Calendar it should create a task in a Task List.
If that task is Approved it should send an email to the person who created the item in the calendar

and if the task was Rejected it should Delete the item in the calendar.

I can get to creating the Task but I am not sure whether I should then have a second WF linked to the task list?

Some help would be greatly appreciated.
PS: I am using Sharepoint Designer 2010 with Sharepoint Foundation

SharePoint 2010 Workflow - Creating multiple tasks

I'm working on a SharePoint 2010 workflow which will assign multiple tasks to a list of users.

I'm using the Multiple Tasks webcast from Scot Hillier as a guideline
http://www.shillier.com/archive/2010/08/04/Creating_Multiple_and_Parallel_Tasks%20_in_SharePoint_2010_Workflow.aspx, but I cant' get the workflow to work.

I've created the custom activity to create a single task, and used a replicator to start the this custom activity for every user.
However, the sub-activities in my custom activity are not shown(as opposed to webcast).

 public class CreateSingleTaskActivity : SequenceActivity
        public Guid SPTaskId = default(Guid);
        public string SPTaskOutcome = default(String);
        public SPWorkflowTaskProperties SPTaskProperties = new SPWorkflowTaskProperties();
        public SPWorkflowTaskProperties SPAfterProperties = new SPWorkflowTaskProperties();
        public SPWorkflowTaskProperties SPBeforeProperties = new SPWorkflowTaskProperties();

Creating workflow in SP Designer 2010 results in Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131401

The workflow is a 1 step Approval workflow. I'd published it a few time and it worked just fine. I then made a change to an "Email task notification" step.

I get a dialog when I try to publish the workflow:

Workflow Error
Errors were found when compiling the workflow. The workflow files were saved but cannot be run.
(43, 3) Loading this assembly would produce a different grant set from other instances. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131401))

I tried the "Check for Errors" button and I get:
The workflow contains no errors.

Error dialog
Check for Error dialog

Anyone have any clues as to where I might start looking for clues? Nothing has been returned by the usual search engines...

I've just tried to create a brand new workflow and it's still giving me the above dialogs. :'(

Email from an SPD workflow in one list not creating entry in another email-enabled list

When an item is manually created in AA an SPD workflow on custom list AA sends an email to bb@sharepoint.mydomain.com. Since BB is an email-enabled list, a list item should be created in BB. However, no list item is created in BB, even though it appears BB should be receiving the email.

  • If I manually send an email to bb@sharepoint.mydomain.com from my workstation then a list item is created in BB. So,we know the email-enabling is working on the BB list and the Exchange<->MOSS connection is working correctly.
  • Exchange server Message Tracking shows that the email from the workflow is reaching the Exchange server and is being sent to the MOSS server, as expected.
  • SMTP logs on the MOSS server show the workflow email is being received from the Ex

workflow creating issue in sharepoint designer

I try to create a new workflow for Task list using sharepoint designer 2007. But it showing the following error:

Errors were found when compiling the workflow. The workflow files were saved but cannot be run.

Unexpected error on server associating the workflow.

How to solve this issue?

Creating item in discussion list via Workflow.

I have a custom list that starts a workflow when a new item is created.  This workflow creates a new item in a discussion list.

When you click on the new item in the discussion list it displays the page with the Edit Item link at the top.  You do not get the discussion board looking view.  If you attempt to reply, a new top level item is created with "(no title)"and the "Replies" count stays at zero for the parent item.

If you create the discussion manually by clicking "Add new discussion" everything looks and functions as expected.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

When I use the Action "Create item in list" it's using the content type of "Message" when it should be "Discussion."

How do I specify the content type?  Im using Sharepoint Designer to create the workflow.  Yes "Discussion" is the default content type in the list.

Error when creating a Workflow in SharePoint 2010

Hello All,

Creating a custom Workflow + Custom workflow task + complete = error

Hi everyone,

I am using a custom workflow in SharePoint 2010, with one task in it using a Custom Content type deriving from the "Workflow Task" type, with a custom Edit form.

From this point everything is fine, I can create my Task, open it from the task list with my custom webpage as form, but when I want to update my task to complete it, i get a very weird message that I didn't find any help about: "The workflow's parent item associated with this task is currently in the recycle bin, which prevents the task from being completed".

I Just have my Custom workflow using a Custom Workflow task, I don't see where this should come from... I even looked in the Recycle Bin, but it was empty as I was thinking it would be...

Any chances someone got a solution on this?

Cheers, Ben

Creating publishing approval workflow for subsites

My client is using SharePoint as a CMS for their public facing site.  I've created subsites and user groups for each department.  They would like a custom workflow for each subsite (department) so that department employees can create/alter pages and the changes will need to be approved by Dept heads and IT before actually posting to the site.  My previous experience has been in 2007 and working in Collaboration sites in an intranet environment.  This is more or less my first venture into publishing sites with SharePoint.  Can anyone tell me how I can achieve this goal?  My first thought was to create a Site Workflow, but I can only seem to create it at the Site Collection level rather then on Subsites.  Any suggestions?

Looping Workflow SharePoint 2010

I've been trying to create a simple workflow that loops until a condition is met.  At the moment I have two lists. When an item is created on the first list, it is copied to the second list via a workflow.

On the second list another workflow is triggered that make a modification to several fields, then copies the new information back to the original list. This process should contiune to loop until a termination condition is reached.

The problem I have is that the first and second workflow trigger fine, but the first workflow won't re-trigger, effectivly ending the loop. I've also tried adding a timer in to pause the second workflow, but no luck with that.
