Login control is suddenly broken in IE7 but works perfectly on Firefox (It works on both browsers lo

Hey Guys,

 I'm new around and I thought this is probably the best place to help me solve my dilemma, I am developing a website for almost a year now and the login control was implemented a logn time ago, however all of a sudden it will not authenticate on Internet Explorer 7 when the application is published, it doesn't even provide a message that authentication was unseccssful or throws any error, it just refreshes the same page. however this problem doesn't occure when I try the same website on FireFox 2.0...Also when I run the page locally on Cassini it work great on both browsers...This is one of the weirdest errors I have ever faced. what could have gone wrong on the server side to cause this? knowing nothing changed on the server-side...I'll provide a snapshot of the login control below

<asp:Login ID="LoginControl" runat="server" BackColor="Trans

Login Control Works But Can't Log Back In with Password

Good Day,

This is weird:

website: icethestore.com (I know the site is not visually appealing, I'm just trying to get the functionality correct for now!

If you click my login link, you are taken to the login.aspx page - which I have named The Membership Center.

If you create an account - you account information will be sent to the email address you registered with.

After getting the email and copying the password, I return to the membership page and change the password, and get a message that my password change was successful.

Now here is what is strange:

If I use the original password sent (meaning I did not change it) or even if I changed it and I use the password I changed it to (with no errors) i only get a message : Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again.

I am just using default login control, createnewuserwizard control and password change control.

Yet, if I choose to recover my password (again using the default control) - I do get an email with my account name and a new password that it has been changed to, but, still can not login with that password either, still get: Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again.

I check my database and the memberships and users are there!

Please, any help on what could be wrong is appreciated!

SharePoint 2010 AD FS 2.0 Integration - login works then fails, looping back to the adfs server

Hello, I setup SharePoint 2010 Claims auth with AD FS 2.0 following this post: http://blogs.technet.com/b/speschka/archive/2010/07/30/configuring-sharepoint-2010-and-adfs-v2-end-to-end.aspx.  I have no access to the ADFS server, but I think they followed the steps as outlined.  If I do an iisreset (or just recycle the app pool of the SharePoint site) I can login successfully using the remote credentials.  Also I can under security in SharePoint search for and find users and roles from the remote ADFS server. If I close my browser, open a new browser and go to the site I am prompted to login again (this is fine).  I do, using the same credentials, and the login fails because I am redirected between the SP and ADFS servers until the ADFS server stops the redirecting.  I have been doing some digging and I found this post: http://blogs.technet.com/b/speschka/archive/2010/08/09/setting-the-login-token-expiration-correctly-for-sharepoint-2010-saml-claims-users.aspx, which describes the situation I have in point # 3 at the bottom.  I have tried setting the token time out as low as 1 second but this hasn't helped. I have also, just to see, tried setting all the other lifetime settings to 1 second - but no luck.  Because the initial login works I think the setup is correct, but something is maintaining some state that is causing the loop

ASP.NET AJAX Post back happening in IE7 but works good in Firefox

Hi all,

I am debugging one of the project which is implemented using .Net Framework 3.5.

in the home page the project has 5 widgets.

In one of the widget contains a two radio buttons and a save button.When ever the user tries to change the Radiobutton option and Save the results will be displayed properly in Firefox.

But in Internet Explorer 7 the page gets a post back and all the widgets will be reloaded and finally the default radio button will be selected as default instead of the option which i selected.

Can any one help me to resolve this issue.

thanks in advance

Nothing works after re-installing Ajax Control Toolkit

Hi all,

Someone in this forum suggested I reinstalled AJAX (to fix another issue) and now none of my apps work! :(
I keep getting the error below:

"Error: AjaxControlToolkit requires ASP.NET Ajax 4.0 scripts. Ensure the correct version of the scripts are referenced. If you are using an ASP.NET ScriptManager, switch to the ToolkitScriptManager in AjaxControlToolkit.dll."

I checked my previous ZIP file and noticed the version of AjaxControlToolkit.dll is 3.5.40412.2
So is the new AJAX I've just reinstalled today.

I did some research and people suggested adding ToolkitScriptManager instead. That did not work by the way.
What changed in this "latest" AJAX version? Why am I getting these errors?

Request.QueryString works in IE but not Firefox

 I am using a query parameter to pass info from a asp:hyperlink to another webpage.  All works fine in IE but no value comes over in Firefox.  I've attached the relevant code from the start page and the code-behind of the called page. As I mentioned, when using Firefox, the "ChartType" parameter is null when the Page_Load function is called.  Any help would be appreciated.

        <td valign="top">
            <asp:HyperLink id="ViewChart1" runat="server" style="float:right" ImageUrl="Images/ViewNewWindow1.png" onclick="window.showModelessDialog('UnpinnedChartView.aspx?ChartType=1',window,dlgProps); return false;" ToolTip="View Chart in New Window" NavigateUrl="UnpinnedChartView.aspx" />

    protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
        if (!Int32.TryParse(HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString["ChartType"], out SourceChart)) return;
        HttpContext.Current.Response.Expires = 0;
        HttpContext.Current.Response.AppendHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");

login control logsout immediately in IE8 (but not Chrome, Firefox)

I am setting up a simple website which includes an asp.net login control.

Problem: When a registered user logs in using IE8 he is immediately logged out again.

(You can tell that he did get logged in because the "LastActivityDate" entry gets updated, there is also no "login failed" message.)

This doesn't happen if the user is using Chrome or Firefox - these browsers let you login ok. The problem also doesn't occur when using IE8 on the development machine, (running the site through Visual Studio) - it only occurs when deployed (I'm using IIS 5.1 on WinXP Pro).

After a lot of Googling the closest I have found to someone else experiencing this was at:

However the solution offered on the above link (ie don't have an IMG tag with an empty "" source( doesn't seem to apply to my website. Also - I'm guessing that his problem might occur in other browsers.)

I seem to have reached a dead end here, can anyone offer any suggestions?
