Unable to create a web application- website http 404 not found

I am trying to create a sharepoint web application and site collection. But when a site collection is created, it says the site is successfully created but when I navigate to that site its giving me this error: http 404 not found.

When I see in the IIS, the virtual directory structure is not created properly. It just contains 4 folders, (control temp, layouts, _vti_bin, _wpresources). Dono why its not creating all the folders!

Does anyone know why this is happening? I am using the farm administrator account for creating the web app. Is it something related to the IIS settings?

Advanced thanks for the help.

Posting data to a website (HTTPS) from a Desktop Application in Visual Basic (.Net 3.5 or .Net 4.0)

Hello everyone, I'm trying to create a desktop application that will update my IPv4 address to an IPv6 Tunnel broker.  I have the app running up to the point where it sends the data to the website, and then I get exceptions.  I'd like someone to take a look at my code, and tell me what I've got wrong (if anything).  Here's the code that I have (the only portion that is filled in is for Hurricane Electric) Dim strUsername As String = txtUsername.Text.ToString 'User Id supplied by the User. Dim strPassword As String = txtPassword.Text.ToString 'Password supplied by the User. Dim strPasswordHash As String = "" ' this will be created from the hashing of the password supplied by the user. Dim strTunnelID As String = txtGlobalTunnelId.Text.ToString 'Global Tunnel ID (He.net and ) Dim strUrl As String = "" ' Place holder for the URL Which will be provided after the password is hashed and specified by the tunnel broker. Dim strTunnelBroker As String = cbxTunnelBroker.SelectedItem 'Sets the Tunnel Broker to the user specified one. Dim wc As New WebClient() 'Allows for posting data to the server 'holds the server response. Dim strData As String = "" 'Provides the data for the form. Dim result As String = "" Select Case strTunnelBroker Case

Long running WPF application - Garbage Collection

Hi All, I have a long running WPF application; users start the application and keep it open for at least 6 hours straight. I spend a couple days with a Memory Profiler, solving a couple of memory leaks. According to the Memory Profiler, all is good now. However, when I run the application, and monitor the Memory in the Windows Task Manager, it only seems to grow. When I create a button to force the garbage collection (GC.Collect()), a lot of memory is freed from the app. My questions: 1. I don't feel like it's a good idea to call GC.Collect() explicitly; is there any case where it is advised to do so? 2. Is it normal that it takes WPF that long to start garbage collecting automatically? Thanks, Koen

Running the "Publish WebSite" option in VS

A few months ago I ran accross a web site that explained the advantage of running a build on your website via the Publish WebSite optoin but I really did not pay much attention to it back then because I was just starting out.  Now I have two large website projects I am working on that take a very long time to load a page that was changed or any page after the server is restarted. One thing I do remember from that site was that doing the publish on my webpage would fix this long load time. I have tried to find that page (or other pages that explain the publish process and how to use it) but I can't everything I come up with is on uploading websites and such but not on the VS process, I tried using the built in VS help but even after a reinstall it is broken and says the help is not installed. Can anyone either anwser the following (probibily simple questisons) or point me to a website that can? 1. What do all the options in the Publish Website do? 2.  What is the difference between running the Publish Website and running the Build WebSite?

The application domain in which the thread was running has been unloaded

Recently upgraded to VS 2005. With a large project, I keep getting this message when I try and build.Looked through the forums - have tried cleaning and rebuilding - no joy.Have also tried increasing size of virtual memory - no joy.Any ideas? Thanks
