Check if item exists in e.item.dataitem

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 27, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I use a ItemDataBound for a repeater.
But i use 2 kinds of linq querys to bind it.

Some of them has a MerkID, and some doesnt have this item.
So its easy i need to do this:

   //Code for linq query 1

 //Code for linq query 2

So of course the if selection doesnt work, but how can i do that?
I already tryed this:

DataRowView drv = (DataRowView)e.Item.DataItem;
if (drv.Row.Table.Columns.Contains("MerkID"))

But that doenst work because he cant convert it to a datarowview because its a linq class.
So what to do?

Right now i use a try and catch, but there are better solutions i guess...

No item exists at Url. It may be deleted or renamed by another user problem

Hello  all,   I am using strListUrl = subSite.Url + "/" + strSubstring + "DispForm.aspx?ID=" + listitem["ID"] for redirecting the user the list item. But it says the No item  exists at Url. It may be deleted or renamed by another user problem. After some research I came to know, I can't use ?ID=. from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972225/en-us. Can anyone tell me, what the article is saying or Anyone has any solution.

No Item Exists Error

I have a edit form that has a custom list form (call it list A) and several mutli item forms (call these list 1, list 2, list 3) on it. When I try to edit some of the items I get the following error: No item exists at http://stpi35/ResourceAllocation/Lists/Management Fee Survey/EditForm_11.aspx?ID=12&List=f3d96856-bcda-4ef1-ae4e-a0ed0ddb97bc&Source=http://stpi35/ResourceAllocation/Lists/Management Fee Survey/AllItems.aspx.  It may have been deleted or renamed by another user. None of the lists have a column that I created called ID I have noted that if my main item list (list A) has 4 items and one of the supporting lists (list 1) has only 3 items I can edit items 1, 2, & 3 on list A but item 4 causes the error to be thrown. I am guessing the Id = 4 is being somehow applied to list 1 (one of the embedded multi item forms) and since it only has 3 items it is causing the error. The multi item form for list 1 does not have a query string (I am not filter just wanting everything to show) In searching for a solution I came across this article -> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972225/EN-US The resolution was --> Change the query string parameter from ID to CustomID. Then change the details page from QueryString(ID) to QueryString(CustomID). I can change the query string parameter on the custom list form to CustomID but where is the details page? (If t

Check Box List Item in ASP and JS onClick item

Copy List Item in SPD 2010 Workflow Fails if Check Out/Check In Required

I've seen this issue on 3 different Sharepoint 2010 implementations, including upgrades and fresh installations...

The workflow, which works fine in WSS 3.0/MOSS, operates on change of a document.  Workflow reviews a specific column and based on contents of that column, it checks out the document, copies the current item from the current library to another library in the same site and then deletes the item in the current library.

In SharePoint 2010, the following occurs.  Again, this occurs in the upgraded workflow as well as in a brand new workflow created with SPD 2010 on a site that blank / not upgraded.

  • Workflow starts on an item that is verified to not already be checked out.
  • Document is checked out
  • Document IS copied to the other library
  • Workflow fails and is canceled with the following errors:
    The workflow could not copy the item. Make sure the source and destination lists have the same columns and column settings.  (They do.)
    The workflow operation failed because the action requires the document to be checked out. (The item is checked out by workflow - as is evidenced by the fact that the item is still checked out after workflow fails.)
  • RESULT:  the copy operation does work, workflow thinks it doesn't and fails on that step, item is not deleted

How to check who is the person that change the list permission or the list item permission?

Does SharePoint out of the box has any reports that report the change of permission to list/list item?

User A change the permission of List Item A by adding a new user
User B change the permission of List Item A by removing a user

Thank in advance.

No item exists at. It may have been deleted or renamed by another user.

I've searched and seen 5 older unsolved posts regarding this question and I'm hoping someone has stumbled onto an answer since.  I use windows auth. in SharePoint and while managing permissions for a single list instance (so a user can edit/view just this instance), it correctly sends the email with the link to the user, but when the recipient clicks the link in the email I get the following error.  If I click the link it works fine since I have access to any list instance.  Anyone solved this?  I've seen one post off-site that says they had to rebuild the form to get it to work.  I really like to avoid that since it is quite large and would take some time.

No item exists at http://server/sites/Security/Lists/Incidents/DispForm.aspx?ID=211.  It may have been deleted or renamed by another user.

Missing 'new item templates'

 Hi all,

          I am a 'newbie' to VWD and I am slowly working through the Basic Walkthrough Help files, and learning plenty along the way.

However, when I tried to create a new database in the LINQ control walkthrough I found that the option to create a new database is missing, and further investigation has found that many other new item templates are missing.

I am using a brand new machine with Windows 7 Ultimate and have enabled IIS and .NET from Control Panel-Programs-Turn Windows Features On-Off. I used the WPI to install all basic elements eg. IIS Components, SQL Server Express.

The only 'new item templates' I have when I right-click the App_Data Folder and choose 'new item' are:-

ADO.NET Data Service

AJAX Enabled WCF Service

Dynamic Data Field

SQL Server Database

Text File

XML File

Does anyone know where I have gone wrong.

LINQ to SQL - Validating if item is in Database, but if item is not items not inserting into databas

I am new to this, so bear with me.  I am writing an application in C# that uses LINQ to validate a datacontext off a textbox to see if the record exists already.  If the record does exist I inserted an if statement to advise the user that the record exists, if the record does not exist I would like to allow the record to be added to the database.  If I take out my else statement everything works fine as far as inserting goes, but I do not want to allow inserts in this scenario.  I have tried moving the if and else statement to different parts of the code but can't quite figure this one out.  Any help would be apprecaited, attached is the code.  This code is set to a button press.  As a matter of fact, if you see any other errors along the way please feel free to point them out.

    protected void enterBTN_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
        //make new data context

        SHCDataContext insNewAll = new SHCDataContext();
        //LINQ to check if customer exists in database
        var checkExisting = from c in insNewAll.Customers
                            where c.custLastName.Contains(custLastNameTB.Text.ToString())
                            select c.custLastName;
        //make list to store values

How to keep the hover for Parent menu and set the selected menu item css for child menu item?

I'm using cssfriendly control adapter for menu. My asp.net menu control's datasource is a sitemap file I'm using which contains all the urls.

I have the following questions:

  1. Is there a way to keep the parent menu item hovered while hovering over the respective child menu items?
  2. Is there a way to keep the child menu item selected? I am able to set the css for the parent menu, however I was wondering if the same is possible with the child items.

Please help! Smile

ASP.NET 4.0 Menu Top Level selected item style

I want to apply a css class to the level 1 menu item (parent) when it or any or it's children are selected.

I've looked at MSDN documentation and any number of examples and walkthroughs but I haven't come up with a way of managing this. I was thinking something like this might work but the style is not being applied to the parent. To further complicate matters, if I try to apply a css style to StaticSelectedStyle it doesn't pick it up at all.

Menu Markup:

<StaticSelectedStyle  Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="#3333CC" />

Code Behind:

        protected void MenuItemClick_NavMenu(Object sender, MenuEventArgs e)

            MenuItem parentItem = e.Item.Parent;

            if (parentItem != null)

                parentItem.Selected = true;

Personal view reverts back to default after updating properties of item

I am working with a company that has 1 site collection with several sub sites.  I have built 3 document libraries with workflow in 3 different sub sites and all behave as expected.  I have one site where ALL libraries do something perplexing;

If you are in a custom personal view and you go into the properties of a document and then exit (update or not, does not matter) it reverts back to the default view of that library.

Has anyone seen this?  is there an option when creating an album that could cause this?

thanks in advance for any input on this odd issue.
