I need help about a problem I'm encountering with SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Advanced Edition. I know that there are a lot of posts about that but I could not find any useful info. They are either talking about other editions of SQL Server or about
other errors. Nothing in there for my problem.
Anyway, I have the .NET Framework 4 installed with the latest updates and I use Windows 7 Home. Meanwhile, in the Control Panel where you can activate or deactivate some Windows programs I see Microsoft .NET Framework and I have activated the two folders
saying "Windows Communication Foundation HTTP Activation" and "Windows Communication Foundation Non-HTTP Activation" Back to the problem now, when I run the setup file and after extracting some files it displays the following error: "SQL
Server 2008 R2 setup requires Microsoft .NET Framework and an updated Windows Installer to be installed. To enable the .NET Core role, click OK." I did it and it continues with setup but in the end it shows a table with features installed and, except
one, all have a red X next to them. Then, it said that I had to remove SQL Server before I try another setup an I uninstalled every single thing that had "SQL" on it.
