portrait and landscape orientation in the same report

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 26, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I'd like to know how can I have different text orientations in the same report, using the list item - one page with a portrait and another page with a landscape text orientation. Both pages will contain detailed tables.  How to rotate a table by 90 degrees or are there any other solutions? Thanks!

SQL Server 2008 r2 Report Builder 3 problem with "landscape" orientation

 I am trying to format a report that is oriented in 'landscape'.  I have set the report properties page setup for 'landscape' but the program formats the report in 'portrait' mode.  The program recognizes the margin settings but does not recognize the 'landscape' orientation.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Automatically convert portrait format to landscape

Good morning, I am looking for a code to automatically print a report in landscape format if it does not fit into a portrait, something like 'If the wide of the report is larger than the longer, print landscape, else print portrait' It seems easy but I do not find anything to do so, thank you for your response Claude from Québec

Printing Landscape Report using the Print Control of the ASP.NET Report Viewer

I am using the ASP.NET Report Viewer 2010 web control in remote processing mode connected to a SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2 report server in Native Mode. I am viewing the report in IE8 and the print control within the report viewer is available. According to "Printing Reports from a Browser Using the Print Control" at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159237.aspx  "The Print dialog box and the default printer settings for width, height, and page orientation are determined by the report definition." In SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio I am using the “Report Properties” window accessed from the “Report” menu to set the Orientation to “Landscape”, the paper size to “Letter”, the Width to “11in”, and the Height to “8.5in” in the report definition. When viewing the report using the ASP.NET Report Viewer 2010 in IE8 and exportint to PDF, the report renders correctly in landscape orientation and the size both on screen and printed is as defined in the report definition. However, if I print it directly from the ASP.NET Report Viewer using the Print Control the print preview shows the report correctly in landscape orientation and page size, but the resulting printout is in portrait orientation and skewed or cropped.  If I go into the properti

Word Export error when orientation is Landscape in SSRS 2008

Urgent help is needed!!!

Report Builder 3.0 renders empty page for Reports with Matrix (column group) in Landscape orientatio

I need some help.

If I create a Report with a Matrix Tablix (with row Groups and column groups) in landscape layout and preview it in print layout, the report generates me some extra empty page every 2nd page.

I don't understand the rule, why it's doing that.

My Report settings are:

  • PageSize: width: 29.7 cm, height: 21 cm
  • InteractiveSize: width: 29.7cm, height: 21 cm
  • Margins : 0cm,0cm,0cm,0cm
  • Report Body : widht: 25cm, height: 10cm

According my Report settings this shouldn't happen, should it. The width of my Tablix is max 22cm.

What I noticed is, that when I shrink the width of my Report Body to 21 cm (to the width of the portrait layout) or less, the emtpy pages disappear.

Or when I delete the column group, it also renders the report without some empty pages.

I think this problem has something to do with column groups.

Is this a bug or am I missing a setting?

ReportViewer displays report in portrait by default

Hi, I'm using VS2008 and SSRS 2008 R2 and server-side report, we run into an issue with the native Report Viewer seems to always display the report in portrait, but when printing it prints in the correct orientation of the report as it's designed. The problem is that in the report viewer it shows a different number of pages than when it prints. For example if the report is designed in landscape, the report viewer will say the report has 4 pages (because it displays in portrait), but when printed the report is actually 9 pages (because it's landscape). Is there a way to set the report viewer to display the report in the orientation of the report as it's designed?

Thank you.

ReportViewer displaying report in wrong orientation

Hi, We are developing an ASP.NET web application, and we're using VS2008 and SSRS 2008 R2 with server-side reports. We have a number of reports, some designed to be landscape and some in portrait. We have an aspx page containing the ReportViewer control, but when run, it seems the ReportViewer always displays the report in portrait, even for the landscape reports, but when printing it prints the report in the correct orientation as it's designed. The problem is that when shown in the ReportViewer it shows a different number of pages than when it prints. For example if the report is designed in landscape, the report viewer will say the report has 4 pages (because it displays in portrait), but when printed the report is actually 9 pages (because it's landscape). Our landscape reports are set to landscape, also the paper size and the Interactive size are both set to 11 inch in width and 8.5 inch in height. Is there a way to make sure the ReportViewer display the report in the correct orientation of the report as it's designed (so the page numbers will match when viewed and printed)?

Thank you.

center a portrait or landscape image in a square

I'm horrible at math, or the formula simply eludes me.I need to replace a program I bought years ago that resized my photos, so I'm starting from scratch with this, that mimicks the program I was using.

I'm just trying to center a landscape or portrait image in a square, but coming up with the correct X or Y against the canvas size is throwing me off. I'll sleep on it for tonight and try again tommorrow. The image quality is fine.

Here's what I have, any code modifications would be appreciated

Imports System.IO
Imports System.Drawing

Public Class Resize_File
Public Padding As Boolean
Public fileType As _FileType
Public Orientation As _Orientation
Public JPGQuality As Integer

Public Interpolation As Drawing.Drawing2D.InterpolationMode
Public SmoothingMode As Drawing.Drawing2D.SmoothingMode

Private sourceFile As Bitmap
Private convertedFile As Bitmap
Private newGraphic As Graphics
Private sourceType As String
Private convertedType As String
Public Enum _Orientation
Portrait = 0
Landscape = 1
End Enum
Public Enum _FileType
BMP = 0
GIF = 1
JPEG = 2
PNG = 3
End Enum

Alternating row background for first column of a report

is there a way to make the first column of a report use the an alternating background color?

I have the background color set for the entire row however it does not work for the first column if the color is set to an expression.  If I just set it to a color i.e. red it works just fine. If I insert a dummy column to the left it works just fine (but the dummy column does not work, presumably because it is first??).

In the file below only the textbox for part number does not show an alternating background.  All others work correctly.

<TableRows>
            <TableRow>
              <TableCells>
                <TableCell>
                  <ReportItems>
                    <Textbox Name="PartNumber">

How to use report viewer 2010 in VS 2008

I downloaded report viewer 2010 from here

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=a941c6b2-64dd-4d03-9ca7-4017a0d164fd

Now I want to actually use it in a website.  How do I do that?  Do I have to modify some part of web.config?  Specifically, what do I need to change?

Thanks

A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer.

Hi,

  • I created a Report using Business Intelligence Studio. Its working working well, i can able to view records. But when i try to deploy the report an error occurs specifying that "A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer. (Microsoft Report Designer)".
  • I open the IIS 7 and find out virtual directories "Reports" and "ReportServer" are available.
  • I check on the browser and type "http://localhost/reports".  I find the browser direct to this url: http://localhost/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx and find error specifying the following one:

         Error:The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.

  • when i type http://localhost/reportmanager, i found the error:

    HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
