CSS support in visual studio 2008 express edition

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have several css style sheets I want to work with.  I have copied them into the appropriate directory structure in my project.  The styles are applied correctly.

But the manage CSS styles tool bar on the left margin doesn't seem to work correctly.  At one point I had generated a style sheet and worked with it there, but now it not only can't find the one it generated, but the attach style sheet link doesn't respond at all, nor does anything in this bar.  Same deadness with the CSS Properties bar.  With or without a style sheet loaded in the editor -- a style sheet that is active in the project such that when I run it, the styles are applied.

VB version of studio, running on Vista home basic.

PS, the design mode works a lot better than the professional version I use in my day job on XP and server 2003.

Need help uninstalling incomplete Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition with SP1

I need to get a list of programs/files that were installed when I was trying to install VWD 2008 so I can go through and remove them.  The installation did not actually install the main part of the program so I can't start with removing Microsoft VWD 2008 (a folder was created in Program files but it is empty.  I found this (below) but I'm not sure that it applies. I don't want to remove programs/files that are being used by other programs. (I can't just try to install again because there is not enough room on my hard drive)

Can not connect to user instance of SQL Server 2008 Express with Advance Services in Visual Studio 2

I used SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services (not SQL Server 2008 Express) in Visual Studio 2010 because it is the fast and easy way to developed and managed data-driven applications with powerful built-in reporting and full-text search functionality. I received Sql Server 2008 Service Pack 1 with Windows Update. It's ok if I connect to instance of SQL Server 2008 Express with Advance Services (with SP1) through SQL Server Management, but if I try to attach a database in Server Explorer (Visual Studio 2010), I get the following error: "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed." I'm stuck at this point. Is there a fix or a workaround? I've already tried deleting the 'C:\Users\Administrtor\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Data\SQLEXPRESS' directory as mentioned in other posts, with no luck. Visual Studio 2008 Express and mobile web development

OK - so I've been using VS2008 Express for a while to develop some web sites etc.

Windows XP, Visual Studio Express 2010 and SQL Server 2008 Express - How can I save modified columns

Hi,

I am using c# in VS 2010 Express. I have a MDF database that I connect to through "Database Explorer". Database Explorer will not let me SAVE columns that I have modified. As I know in SQL Server 2008 full edition you can change the setting "Prevent saving changes that require table recreation" in Management Console to prevent this. I haven't got Management Console and can't see it in install.

How do I change this setting if I haven't got management console? Is it in Registry or Config File.

Thanks.

John.

SQL Server Express 2008 and Visual Studio Express 2010

Hi,

A few months ago I upgraded to VS2010 - at the same time I thought it would be good to upgrade to SQL Express 2008 R2.

It turned out that there was some compatibility issues between the two - "...cannot be opened because it is version 661. This server supports version 655 and earlier. A downgrade path is not supported."  After much trouble I restored the database and have done most of the stuff I need through VS itself.

Now I need to use SQL itself and am positively scared to death of what it could do to my database again.  Can anyone offer any advice - it is a service pack update or something...?

Thanks

John

.NET Configuration Tools (caspol.exe) with visual studio 2008 express?

Hello list, this is my very first question about .NET as I've started studying it only recently.
I've installed VS C# 2008 Express Edition and I wonder where to find .NET Configuration Tools (caspol.exe). It's generally mentioned to be reachable through Administration Tools, but it isn't there.

Someone says that the tool is shipped with .NET 2.0 SDK. Should I install it? How would this hurt my actual installations (VS 2008, .NET 3.5, etc.)?

thanks very much,
giovanni

Visual studio 2010 and SQL Express 2008 with advanced series

Hi I recently found out that you can only do full text indexing with the advanced series of SQL Express and I managed to download and install it on my machine.

My question is how do I integrate it with Visual studios 2010 so that I can do the full text indexing ?

When I installed SQL Express with advanced series 2008, it created an instance of SQL Server management studio so im wondering if I have to do it there and then move the database into my project or if I can do the full text indexing from inside my project

Anyone's help would be much appreciated

SQL Server 2008 Express Management Studio fails to install because it thinks visual studio is instal

I tried to install SQL Server 2008 R1 Express with Tools on Windows Server 2008 R2. It installed, but the management studio failed to install because it said I already had Visual Studio installed and it needed Visual Studio service pack 1 before Management Studio could install.

Visual Studio is nowhere to be found in Programs and Features, and when I try to install Visual Studio SP1, it won't install, saying:

A compatible version of Visual Studio 2008 was not detected on the system. This update is designed for only the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (ENU) product family, and is not compatible with any Express editions.

Though I can't find any Express version of SP1 to try, and there is no SP1 in windows update.
