How do I set the max text length of a ListView cell to be bigger?

I need to be able to populate a cell in a WinForm ListView control with text that is longer than 256 characters (in some places I've seen this limit is 260 characters).  Is there some property I can set to accomplish this?  Can I directly access a control for a specific cell to tell it to allow for a larger size?  Or is there a general setting on the ListView itself?  I've seen suggestions to do tool tips or owner draw but am hoping this is simply a setting.

WPF: how to change the ListView cell template if the content is too long, it will display as Charact

We have used the GridView inside the ListView. We fix the column width (see the following link):

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wpf/thread/7b66d9e0-36e0-4c63-b700-eb0a94fda5ac

if the content is too long in one cell (since we fix the column width), we want it display as CharacterEllipsis at the end

just like the TextBlock we can define TextTrimming="CharacterEllipsis"

how can we achive it?

we have used the ListViewItemStyle as following, can we modify the <GridViewRowPresenter  /> section to achive it?

<Window.Resources>
  <!--ItemContainerStyle with the Trigger for selection x:Key="ListViewItemStyle"-->
  <Style x:Key="ListViewItemStyle" TargetType="{x:Type ListViewItem}">
   <Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/>
   <Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/>
   <Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/>
   <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="Black"/>
   <Setter Property="Margin" Value="5,0,5,0&q

how to get horizontal scrollbar for empty ListView which has headers that are too wide

Consider the following ListViews, both have a combined column width that is too large to fit.

Using ASP.NET 3.5's ListView and DataPager Controls: Displaying Data with the ListView

Prior to ASP.NET 3.5, developers who needed to display a set of records could choose between the GridView, DataList, and Repeater controls. The GridView provides rich data features, but has a very boxy layout; the DataList and Repeater allow for a more flexible layout, but lack the "point and click" data features found in the GridView, DetailsView, and FormView controls. The ListView bridges the gap between layout flexibility and built-in data features.

This article, the first in a series of articles on the ListView and DataPager controls, looks at the ListView's many available templates and illustrates how to display data. Read on to learn more!

WPF Tutorial - Using The ListView, Part 1

Many of the controls in WPF have a downright dizzying array of capabilities and features, due in large part to the composibility of all the components. The ListView control is a great example of this - the possibilities are almost endless. This series of tutorials on the ListView will hopefully make the space of possible options seem not quite as daunting

How to listen to events within a listview

Hi,

I've got a listview and I've put a button control in one of the columns, I'm trying to figure out how I have listen to the button click within a certain row, but can't see the button in the dropdown for the IDs I can generate events for.

I'd like to get the primary key of the row that's been clicked on and then run a sql statement against it.

Any help would be appreciated.

ListView DataPager with SQL-Statements that already return only paged data.

Hi,

As far as I understand the ListView-Control and the DataPager-Control, they work like this: The ListView gets its datarows from its data source, then the DataPager causes the ListView to display only a subset of those rows.

So what, when I want to use custom databinding for the ListView, that *already* gets the certain subset from SQL-Server (for better performance). Can I and how can I use the DataPager then?

Thanx, S.

Passing Data to a Cell in Excel

Hello,

I have a webpage that is created in Visual Studio 2008 and programmed in C#.

I have a web form that prompts the user to enter a value into a text box.  For now, I do not have any validation on that field (I will be adding that later).

I need to pass the value that the user has entered to cell C1 of the excel spreadsheet (user_info.xls).

I understand that using excel is not ideal, but unforutnately need to try to make this work with the excel spreadsheet.

I do not have any code for this yet, because I honestly do not know how to begin.

The action of poulating the excel spreadsheet will be intialized from the On Click event of a Submit button.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your assistance,

Allison

Bad quality after resize jpeg

Hi,

I wrote code that resize my photo to thumbnail (100x100px). The thumbnail is ok (is blur) on serwer (Windows Serwer 2008 x64) and the thumbnail is very bad (no blur and pixels are big) on serwer (Windows Serwer 2008 x86). Both serwers have framework .net 4.0.

I wrote code on VS 2010.

Below is my code:

public static void MakeThumbnail(string path, string prefix, string filename, Stream stream, string mime, int fixedWidth, int fixedHeight, bool allowCrop)
{
string newFullname = path + "\\" + prefix + filename;

//oryginalny obrazek
Image sourceOriginalImage = Image.FromStream(stream);

int width = sourceOriginalImage.Width;
int height = sourceOriginalImage.Height;

double widthD = Convert.ToDouble(width);
double heightD = Convert.ToDouble(height);
double fixedWidthD = Convert.ToDouble(fixedWidth);
double fixedHeightD = Convert.ToDouble(fixedHeight);

int newWidth = 0;
int newHeight = 0;

int cropX = 0;
int cropY = 0;

newWidth = fixedWidth;
newHeight = (int)(fixedWidthD / Xp);

Easy image processing(grayscale, sepia, negative, resize, brightness, contrast and opacity)

Howdie y'all,

I see a lot of questions in this forum about resizing images. Recently I created a code sample(with downloadable webapp), right here.

The class (downloaded or created) allows for very fast and easy processing of your images. And a lot of problems over here can be solved by simply using that class. I thought it might help to mention the code sample in this forum as well.

Css Friendly Adapters - asp.net Horizontal Menu - IE6

Hi,

Hopefully someone can help.

I have an asp.net menu with horizontal static top tier followed by 2 dynamic vertical lower tiers.

It renders fine in all other browsers etc. etc. - apart from IE6.

In IE6 the menu is not rendered horizontally and insttead the items are stacked vertically.

It is my understanding that when using horizontal orientation, the menu items are effectively floated next to each other.

So I can get round this float problem in IE6 by specifying a width for the items i.e.:

*html .AdminMenu .AspNet-Menu-Horizontal ul.AspNet-Menu li
{
	width: 45px;
	text-align: left;
	margin: 0;
	padding: 0;
}

Problem is, I do not want to set the width for each item. If I do this then it means regardless of the length of the text the width will always be the same.

On other browsers I do not set a width but instead set left/right margin so that every item is evenly spaced.

How can I do this in IE6? Essentially each li should wrap the text and float nex

This month, use nested ListView controls to create hierarchical views of data and extend the eventing model of the ListView by deriving a custom ListView class.
