I've deployed dozens of custom InfoPath forms using the Solution\Feature technique described here:
Basically when you deploy the feature it runs an InfoPath feature receiver which uploads the InfoPath form and wires up the content type. If you ever needed to update the form you would just run the 'upgradesolution' command and then retract the solution
and immediately redeploy it. That would result in the new form getting uploaded to the server.
Everything works fine with MOSS 2007 but it's not cleaning up completely in 2010. I can deploy the forms fine, and any existing forms are working, but when I retract the solution there are still entries left in the sharepoint_config database so it won't
let me redeploy a new version of the form - ever.
Here's the error message:
