Content Deployment fails

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 26, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Dear Colleagues,

I am trying to set a content deployment between two farms (internal / external) but it does not work. Everytime I run the job, it fails with this error message:
'A list, survey, discussion board, or document library with the specified title already exists in this Web site. Please choose another title.'

What I have done:

1. I have created two webapps by the followings:

Classic NTLM auth, allow anonymous access

2. I have created one-one site collections to the webapp root, I used english blank site template on both of them

3. On the intranet site I have created a sub site from blog template

4. I have enabled the content deployment on the external server. The external CentralAdmin has a certificate, so I required the encrypted connection for the content deployment.

5. I have created a new path on the internal server:
Name - publish
Source webapp - http://intranet.test.local:80
Source site coll - \
Destination CA - https://externalCA:8090
User name - test\external_admin
Destination webapp - extranet80

ClickOnce deployment fails if .NET Framework isn't installed

Hi,   I have noticed that installation of my application fails in some cases. If the user has .NET Framework installed the installation works. But if it's not installed then Click Once will install it, after asking the user to accept the EULA, installation will complete and the "Install"/"Don't install"-dialog appears. My application is downloaded and then fails with the error message:     Following errors were detected during this operation. * [2010-09-01 15:22:17] System.Deployment.Application.InvalidDeploymentException (ManifestLoad) - Exception occurred loading manifest from file Stoffi.exe: the manifest may not be valid or the file could not be opened. - Source: System.Deployment - Stack trace: at System.Deployment.Application.Manifest.AssemblyManifest.ManifestLoadExceptionHelper(Exception exception, String filePath) at System.Deployment.Application.Manifest.AssemblyManifest.LoadFromInternalManifestFile(String filePath) at System.Deployment.Application.Manifest.AssemblyManifest..ctor(String filePath) at System.Deployment.Application.DownloadManager.ProcessDownloadedFile(Object sender, DownloadEventArgs e) at System.Deployment.Application.FileDownloader.DownloadModifiedEventHandler.Invoke(Object sender, DownloadEventArgs e) at System.Deployment.Application.FileDownloader.OnModified() at System.Deployment.A

Content Deployment Errors

Hello, We're trying to set up OOTB content deployment on MOSS2007. Of course we are running into trouble. We keep getting these errors: The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequestInternalClass.GetFileAsByteArray(String bstrUrl, String bstrWebRelativeUrl, Boolean bHonorLevel, Byte iLevel, OpenBinaryFlags grfob) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.GetFileAsByteArray(String bstrUrl, String bstrWebRelativeUrl, Boolean bHonorLevel, Byte iLevel, OpenBinaryFlags grfob) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.FileSerializer.SaveFile(SerializationInfo info, ExportObjectManager objectManager, ExportDataFileManager fileManager, SPExportSettings settings, SPWeb parentWeb, Boolean isGhosted, String setupPath, String setupPathUser, Byte setupPathVersion, String webRelativeFileUrl, Int32 size, Byte level) 97 errors like this one. While some of the files differ, most of the files are default.aspx that it is complaining about. It looks like it is throwing an error for every subsite's default.aspx page, plus a few extras. Here is some background. I am trying to export from a Dev server to a Unit testing server for proof of concept. We will be pushing automated publishing on production which is already live. This means I can't purge the database for testing on the destination because we can't do that when we int

Feature Deployment of Inherited Content Type

I'm encountering a strange behaviour and I'm not sure of the root cause or solution.  I have a custom content type that inherits from form with a content type id of: 0x0101010056138C818DD3564C95CA65FF3C468A86.  This was created in from the SharePoint UI. I'm attempting to deploy an inherited content type from as a feature.  The feature activates fine but no content type appears in the UI.  From that point forward I get the following error in the UI if I attempt to create a child content type of 0x0101010056138C818DD3564C95CA65FF3C468A86.    "The local device name is already in use. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070055) "  In the logs I see the following error 3 times: Failed to find the parent content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c95ca65ff3c468a86" for content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c95ca65ff3c468a8601". At this point I uninstall the feature but still can't delete the original custom content type because it says the content type is in use.  Using the SP Manager tool from codeplex shows me that the child content type is still associated with the parent despite the fact that it never showed up in the UI! Failed to find the parent content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c95ca65ff3c468a86" for content type ID="ct-1033-0x0101010056138c818dd3564c9

MOSS 2007 Content Deployment Error

I have trouble with a staging environment that I recently set up.  I went through the error logs and finally got the staging environment functioning without errors, but previous to working through those errors, we successfully made a content deployment path and job and ran it.  Now, the Destination central Admin is giving permissions issues.  I changed and restarted some services and some component services..  Are there any specific things I should check related specifically to content deployment as far as services on the server?

Either the URL for the destination Web application is not valid, or you do not have permissions to the Central Administration site on the destination server farm.

Error details: The remote Web service request failed with this message : 'Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.'.

Content Deployment in MOSS 2007

I am trying to Deploy the content from one site collection to another site collection in a different server.

My question here what kind of similarity has to be exists with both servers.

I have some custom webparts installed in one server and it is also used in the site collection do i have to install all those custom server in the destination server too. or while content deploying it does it automatically.

Content Type Deployment Error

I got this error

Error occurred in deployment step 'Activate Features': The content type with Id [GUID] defined in feature [GUID] was found in the current site collection or in a subsite.

Any ideas???

cube deployment fails- A duplicate attribute key has been found when processing

I am trying to create a cube using the same process that I always do. however this time I get an error message "Warning 4 Errors in the OLAP storage engine: A duplicate attribute key has been found when processing: Table: 'dbo_ALL_ResultsNewest', Column: 'MktCapGroup', Value: ''. The attribute is 'Mkt Cap Group'.  0 0
This is using alot of data but I have created similar size cubes before. I create simple cubes with a single dimension and all the attributes related to a single master attribute. I am a data analyst, not a technologist and don;t have any real understanding of cube internals beyond the basics.

Content type deployment

I wanted to deploy the content type at site collection level on feature activation.

We have one admin site collection where all the contnet type and sitecolumns are stored. When the feature is activated the content type and site column from admin site collection has to be copied to the site collection where the feature is activated.

Is this a good plan to go with? or are there any better options available?

One other requirement is that, if the content type at admin site collection is updated, the changes need to be updated in other site collection also. Is there a way to update a content type which is already used in a doc library and has data associated with it? We saw that it is not possible to delete when there is data associated with it.

Host-named site collections and content deployment jobs (SharePoint 2007 Internet facing Web Sites)

I have an editing web application with multiple site collections (only accessible internally on a dedicated port), and I've one public facing web application (on port 80). Now I want to create several host-named site collections in the public facing web application (to limit the number of web apps in the farm), and then use content deployment jobs to push the content from the site collections on the editing web app into these host-named site collections.

Does anyone have any experience with this?
Do you see any issues?

SharePoint 2007 Content Deployment Word Document URLs being changed

We created an application that leverages on SPExport and SPImport.

We noticed that when we export/import site, the links on the word documents pointing to same application on the target site seems to get truncated url, the url parameters (ie ?param1=a&param2=b) are truncated.

also the host header seems to get updated ie(http://my.shop.com/path1/path2 turns to like (http://hostheader/path1/path2) which is causing broken links.

need some help/advice/ suggestion.

Thanks a lot

Anonymous access turning off automatically on target site after content deployment

I have enabled the Anonymous access on internet facing site. Anonymous access turning off automatically on target site after running content deployment job, but the status of job was succeeded. Anonymous access setting to “nothing” automatically. it is happening only when more than 500 objects are exported. Appreciate your help.

Anyone pls give me advice for Content Deployment at sharepoint 2007...

I am doing Content Deployment from one virtual machine to another virtual machine. Both virtual machines are at the different computers.

I got these errors..

Cannot create folder "Cache Profiles/_private". at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.CreateFolderOnImport(String bstrUrl, String bstrFolderUrl, Guid guidFolderId, Int32 lDoclibRowId) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.FolderSerializer.CreateFolder(SerializationInfoHelper infoHelper, SPWeb parentWeb, ImportObjectManager objectManager) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.FolderSerializer.SetObjectData(Object obj, SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context, ISurrogateSelector selector) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.XmlFormatter.ParseObject(Type objectType, Boolean isChildObject) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.XmlFormatter.DeserializeObject(Type objectType, Boolean isChildObject, DeploymentObject envelope) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.XmlFormatter.Deserialize(Stream serializationStream) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.ObjectSerializer.Deserialize(Stream serializationStream) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.ImportObjectManager.ProcessObject(XmlReader xmlReader) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.SPImport.DeserializeObjects() at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.SPImport.Run()

Solution deployment fails using powershell

I am using a powershell script to redeploy our solution and immediatelly afterwards create a site collection.

Unfortunatelly, most of the times, the deployment script either FAILS with an ERROR, or just DOES NOT UPDATE the content that should be replaced(we experience both mis-replace of the content in the 14-th hive and the code from our assemblies).

When the script passes we left "mouth-open", when our QA complains the functionallity is not bettered - and we realise that the script has not done the work, though passed!

When the error occurred I get is "Access to the path "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\<ourSolutionPackageName>\js\<ourJavaScriptFile>.js" is denied". I also got with other than javascript files on other locations in the 14-th.

In our environment we use the RTM SharePoint Server 2010.

I use the following sequence of cmd-lets:

$global:ErrorActionPreference = "Stop"
Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.Powershell
#Here, I delete site collections and content databases(If needed I'll show that code also)
$webApplication = Get-SPWebApplication $WebAppUrl
$appPoolName = $webApplication.ApplicationPool.Name
.$env:SystemRoot\System32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe recycle apppo
