Content Database Synchronization Failed

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 26, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

For the past three/four weeks now, the Application Log(s) within my SharePoint Farm (Moss 2007, Windows 2003 R2, SQL 2005) are being sporadicaly updated with the following entry:

Failure trying to synch web application 152ec958-ecf6-476b-9de4-607f446f0275, ContentDB b1dc64b0-7b95-478e-a121-c9dbe8531036 Exception message was Lock request time out period exceeded.

A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded.

Previously I had seem similar errors, with the advice to run the 'stsadm -o prepare to move command:

Failure trying to synch web application 152ec958-ecf6-476b-9de4-607f446f0275, ContentDB 68f9f8ec-947b-4349-a9e9-c205f12f5c12 Exception message was A duplicate site ID 127fbff5-5396-4bf4-b7b4-41603647f0b5(http://*********) was found. This might be caused by restoring a content database from one server farm into a different server farm without first removing the original database and then running stsadm -o preparetomove. If this is the cause, the stsadm -o preparetomove comman

MOSS Content Database has more documents than what's seen on browser

I am not sure how sharepoint internally handles stuff, but this is what I see. I am a SQLDBA and one of my company sharepoint group re-organized a site, by moving some files from a document library to another document library. I think she used the content deployment.

When she see the number of documents in the document library it showed 700 documents. She moved only 50 of them. I went into the database and queried the Docs and DocStreams View and I get the list of all the those documents. I see both the ones that we see on the site as well as something that we do not see on the site.

ad.DirName, ad.LeafName, TimeCreated, ads.size/1024 as [Size(KB)], SetupPath

I have SQL'08r2x64 freshly installed on a WS'03r2x64sp2 box and WS is also a DC (sorry).  Previously, there was a SQL'05sp3 installation on this box and it worked splendito.  I used the SQL'05 for some minor devel and to host a Backup Exec 11D db/installation; it all was splendito.   Then, i removed SQL'05&BE11D to prepare for an upgrade of this arrangement.  Next, i installed said SQL'08 to be the foundation for a planned Backup Exec 12.5 install.  To date, I can't get to a clean install of SQL'08 and thus have not progressed to installing BE12.5.  I now have this painfully annoying situation (as i've been beating on it for 2 days) where a series of errors occur during boot: 1st: srmSvc; Event ID 12317; File Server Resource Manager failed to enumerate share paths or DFS paths.  Mappings from local file paths to share and DFS paths may be incomplete or temporarily unavailable.  FSRM will retry the operation at a later time. 2nd & 3rd (occurs twice): MsSQL$buExpressSQL; Event ID 18456; Login failed for user 'BOWMAN\ExecSQL'. SharePoint Version 2.0 (WSS 2.0 SP3) Content Database restore to new farm

Is it possible to use an SQL backup from a sharepoint Version 2 SP3 database to restore the content on a new server farm and attach to a new web applicaiton. NOTE: This is WSS 2.0. In WSS 3.0 this is a very simple task, but it is not the same in WSS 2.0 (the add content database option CANNOT be used to attach to an existing content database like it does in WSS 3.0). The options I have found appear to say you need the configuration database from the old server then it can be done. I am migrating from an outsourced deployment, so I do not have access to that. Plan B is to do a sharepoint STSADM backup. THis seems to be a more likey way to do it.

I am currently using SQL 2008 DEV for testing purposes and I am experiencing this error message when trying to connect to Database Engine Tuning Advisor. Cannot create content database: The specified SPConfigurationDatabase Name=SharePoint_Config Parent=

Guys, This is the farm configuration: 1. SQL Server 2005 back end server 2. WSS 3.0 / MOSS 2007 WFE Server 3. WSS 3.0 / MOSS 2007 Index/WFE Server All servers are showing the version: in 'Servers in Farm' in C.A. When attempting to add a new content database, the following error is thrown in the web UI: The specified SPConfigurationDatabase Name=SharePoint_Config-New Parent=SPDatabaseServiceInstance has been upgraded to a newer version of SharePoint. Please upgrade this SharePoint application server before attempting to access this object. Furthermore the following is posted to the application event log on the WFE hosting central admin: Database 'SharePoint_Config-New' on SQL Server instance 'XXXXXXXX' is not empty and does not match current database schema. There is nothing of further interest in the trace log, just the same error as above. No errors on the SQL server either. Also no updates have been installed, and content databases HAVE been created since the last updates were installed 2 years ago. Can anyone suggest anything before I raise a call with MS? I have checked permissions for the sharepoint system account on the databases and all seems fine. Cheers, Conrad    Conrad Goodman MCITP SA / MCTS: WSS3.0 + MOSS2007

Hi there, I am trying to activate the Feature SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure in a Team Site, but I am getting the following message: Provisioning did not succeed. Details: Failed to create the 'Reusable Content' library. OriginalException: Column 'ShowInRibbon' does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user. This environment is running SharePoint 2010 Server, as a result of an upgrade of MOSS 2007 by moving the Content Database. The visual upgrade was applied partially in this Site Collection, not for all the Web Sites. Interestingly for new SharePoint 2010 Site Collections the activation works fine! But not for this specific Site Collection. Any clues? Content Database Purge ?

I just made an experiment: created new web app created new site collection put there a doclib1 with 5 Gb of pdf documents checked size of content db in sql studio - it was 5.5 Gb with 300 Mb available (free, but reserved space, that can be redeemed with shrink operation) Then i deleted doclib1 Then i cleaned recycle bin (2 level), so on this stage the data is totally deleted on site level with no restoration options Checked the db - 5.5 Gb (which is normal) with 800 Mb available. Why 800 Mb and not 5 Gb ? Why i can redeem only 500 Mb in the end ? Are sharepoint content dbs are even made for redeeming space after some of its contents are deleted ?
