Jquery date picker in ASP.NET Web user control does not work

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hello, I have the most frustrating problem and being new to JQuery does make it more difficult. I have an ASP.NET web user control with an ASP.NET box which I want to apply a JQuery date picker to, then of course I have server side code which takes the date and processes it etc. The date picker will not work. I can achieve a working JQuery date picker with an ASP.NET textbox if there is no user control involved, or within the user control I use a html text box instead, but once I add runat="server" to the text box, it does not work. Is there a way I can achieve this? (the web user control will be wrapped in an update panel too which at the moment will work with the html control/web user control without the server side functionality)

User Control with JQuery doesnot work inside update panel

Hi All,

I created a .NET user control to work as a DropdownCheckbox and added Jquery to give the sliding and hide effects. The code is as below:

 <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
        var showRegionWindow = function (ev) {
            var pos = $("#lnkChangeRegion").offset();
            var width = 230;
            var height = 55;
            //$("#changeRegionPanel").css({ "left": +((pos.left) - 215) + "px", "top": height + 16 + "px" });.
            document.getElementById("lnkChangeRegion").style.display = 'none';

        var hideRegionWindow = function (ev) {
            var textVal = "";

jQuery Date picker Implementation in ASP.NET

I've posted a wrapper ASP.NET around the jQuery.UI Datepickercontrol. This small client side calendar control is compact, looks nice and is very easy to use and I've added it some time back to my control library.

This is primarily an update for the jQuery.ui version, and so I spend a few hours or so cleaning it up which wasn't as easy as it could have been since the API has changed quite drastically from Marc's original implementation. The biggest changes have to do with the theming integration and the resulting explosion of related resources.

If you want to use this component you can check it out a sample and the code here:

Category attribute of user control property does not work correctly in categories tab.

I have a User Control (ascx) and a property which a want to display in my categories tab in Visual Studio in the category named "Styles".

[Category("Styles"), DefaultValue(""), Description("The value for formating something.")]
public String MyFormatProperty
set { /* the code for set */; }
get { /* the code for get */; }

And here is the problem: Actually I do not need a get, because I only have to set the property (write only property). But when I omit the get, the property is displayed in the "Misc" category in the categories tab in Visual Studio. Only when I code the get as well, then the property is displayed correctly in the "Styles" category in the categories tab in Visual Studio.

Does anybody know why? How can I display the category correctly only with set?

Thanks, S.

GDI+: A Primer on Building a Color Picker User Control with GDI+ in Visual Basic .NET or C#

Although most developers and APIs use the RGB scheme when working with colors, it's not the only available way to represent or select colors. For instance, the standard Windows color-selection dialog box allows you to work with the HSL color scheme in an indirect way. In this article, the author describes several color selection schemes, and uses GDI+ (via the System.Drawing namespace) to create a component that makes it possible for your own applications to provide a simpler, friendlier color chooser. Along the way, you'll get tips to help you use GDI+ in your own apps.

I am using following attached date picker. http://rapidshare.com/files/417385026/jQuery_Date_Picker.zip http://www.2shared.com/file/d2NK63P-/jQuery_Date_Picker.html Problem is if i don't use font-size tag in the body of the HTML page date picker size becomes too big . I tried using Font-size tag with the div/table/td inside which i put the asp textBox which has date picker but it doesn't work, it works only with body to reduce the datepicker size. Please let me know how i can reduce the size of this date picker without actually reducing the font size of the whole page. JQuery & dynamically instantiated User control

I have one problem which needs to be resolved immediately. I am using JQuery Datatable (http://www.datatables.net/).

This JQuery datatable is present in one of my webuser control named "LeftVerticalLayOut.ascx". I am dynamically instantiating Webusercontrol on click of a link button. This link button is bound with the trigger event of Update Panel control.

So clarifying once again : I have one UpdatePanel which I am triggering with Link button("lnkLoadControl") . On click on "lnkLoadControl" I am able to load Usercontrol("LeftVerticalLayOut.ascx") onto the updatepanel. Now the jquery datatable I am creating in load event of Usercontrol is getting generated.

After the datatable(having id as "example") is created, I am calling the below code in my

function loadHandler()

function BeginRequestHandler(sender, args)

function EndRequestHandler(sender, args)

Jquery scripts in user control works fine in explorer but not in Safari/Firefox

Hi everyone,

I've used some Jquery scripts for toggling image on a web user control, it work fine in explorer but got no signs of life in firefox!

Here the code for a test form in plain html (this works on every browser):

<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/toggle.js"></script>

<div id="invisible">
   <a href="images/accurate.gif" class="swap" rel="lightbox"><img src="images/polaroid_control.gif" id="showimage" /></a>
But i need to use it in a user control so i got:
<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="gallery_admin_search.ascx.cs" Inherits="CMS_GalleryControl" %>
<%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="ajaxToolkit" %>

<div id="invisible">

.Net custom user control buttons (events) not firing in Jquery Modal Popup

I have a custom control, that has takes some information from user and submit to the database. it is working fine in normal aspx pages. but when i display that custom user control in jQuery modal popup. The events does not fire or lets say the data is not submitted to the database.

any help on that?

AutocompleteText does not work when placed in a user control

I thought the whole idea of allowing user to create their own custom controls was to built pages in small parts, share the control with other etc. But that doesn seem like the case. I was trying to organize a very heavy page into user controls and thats when i faced this problem.

here is the architecture that i have

Main Page: AjaxExtension Script Manager

Usercontrol1 (uc1): Script Manager Proxy, Reference to Ajax Toolkit Assembly, Autocomplete Extender, Webservice Method in  uc1.cs

Usercontrol2 (uc2): Script Manager Proxy, Reference to Ajax Toolkit Assembly, Autocomplete Extender, Webservice Method in  uc2.cs

It doesnt work. But when i placed that webservice method in the MainPage.cs it starts working. Could someone tell me what is going on. If this is how its suppose to work then that means to me that user control only supports full designing features however programing screws are missing in it.

Please comment.

JQuery is not working on User Control

I have a user control, which contains a textbox and Jquery mask for a date format. When I have this code on aspx everything is fine, but when I migrate this to an ascx and run the code again, the mask isn't working.

The JQuery and the Jquery plugin I am using I have placed on the ascx and then pushed it back to the aspx, but it doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?

Choosing Between a User Control or Web Part for SharePoint

SharePoint will only display Web Parts on a page. However, there are publicly available shims that allow you to write user controls and have them be displayed as a Web Part. From SharePoint's point of view, the shim is a Web Part. From the point of view of the user control, the shim is simply a control in .NET that is including the user control

Building Re-Usable ASP.NET User Control and Page Libraries with VS 2008

I am having problems with a user control. I want my solution to have a separate project for holding my user controls.

The main project can get a reference to this user control project and can import this user control dll into my main project.

Thanks in advance,
