Passing values from vb to jquery

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 25, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have an asp.net page with a vb code behind file. I also have a simple menu built with an unordered list which is controlled by jquery. Basically, how do I pass a value from the vb code behind file to the jquery? At the moment im assigned the value to an asp:label  that I'm able to read in jquery, but it's a bit messy. Is there a better way of doing it?

Passing HTML values from asp.net to asp

 We have a part of our website which is coded in classic asp. This takes the values of a login page (asp.net)  which uses

<input type="text" /> to hold the values and then submit them to the asp page using the following line of code -

<input type="submit" value="Login" onClick="this.form.action='<%= SubmitURL() %>/login/login_user.asp?Type=Login&amp;this.form.encoding='application/x-www-form-urlencoded'; this.form.submit();" />

The asp page then retrieves the values using the code -

Value1 = Request.Form("Val1")

We now have a requirement to pre-populate the login values to provide an automated login process but don't want to change the older asp code. When we try to assign values to the input text in the asp.net page by assigning the value runat="server" the login fails as it does not seem to carry over when the page is submitted.

Is there a way where we can pre-populate the html textbox without making it unavailable to the asp page?

passing object values from server to client problem

I get a message that x_login is not declared.  I added Dim login as String = "123", but that didn't help.  What's the problem?

jQuery modified ListBox not posting back modified values

Hi everyone,

I have an ASP.Net ListBox that I'm trying to populate via jQuery, using the following snippet:

        $("#MyList_btnAddAll").click(function(e) {
        $('#MyList_lstAll option').appendTo('#MyList_lstSelected');

The code has two ListBoxes in fact, one a "source" and the other a "destination".  As you can tell above the ListBoxes are MyList_lstAll and MyList_lstSelected.  These are rendered in the browser as <select> elements, as you'd expect.

The jQuery is working great, the items are moving from one ListBox to the other, the DOM is updated but when I submit this form (not using jQuery), the ListBoxes don't reflect this change on postback.

I realize my modifications via jQuery aren't available in ViewState but I thought since the DOM was updated these changes would be part of the postback data?  But in the codebehind after postback the ListBox contents haven't changed.  Does anyone know what might be going on and what I can do about it?  Many thanks.

Passing values from web page to custom security trimmer in SharePoint 2010

Hi, In SharePoint 2007 we had a custom security trimmer that implemented ISecurityTrimmer interface. We also had a custom webpart used for search. Now, using HttpContext we passed values from the webpart to security trimmer with additional info needed to trim the results. It worked since trimmer was executed in the same w3wp process as webpart. Now in SharePoint 2010, the architecture for ISecurityTrimmer2 has changed, as it's executed in search process (other w3wp) - not the webpart w3wp so it has no access to the HttpContext. Question is: how to pass custom data, in form of the string, to a security trimmer when search is done from custom code in webart?

problem with passing parameter values to stored proceedure from asp.net c#

hi all, i am facing a problem while passing parameters to a stored proceedure. following is my sql query written for creating this stored procedure:   CREATE proc [dbo].[getstudent]( @wherecolumn nvarchar(2000), @wherevalue nvarchar(2000)) asbegin  declare @sql nvarchar(max) set @sql = 'select * from student2 where ' + @wherecolumn+'='+@wherevalueexec sp_Executesql @sql end   my table contains four columns: And the sql Query For the table is as follows:   CREATE TABLE [dbo].[student2]( [name] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL, [rollno] [int] NOT NULL, [class] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL, [section] [varchar](50) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_student2] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED ( [rollno] ASC)WITH (IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF) ON [PRIMARY]) ON [PRIMARY]   from page behind I am passing the values to parameter as follows:   SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand("getstudent", c.con); SqlDataAdapter datadapter = new SqlDataAdapter(c.cmd); command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; command.Parameters.Add("@wherecolumn", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = "rollno"; command.Parameters.Add("@wherevalue", Sq

Passing values to same kind of controls

Hi all, I have two user controls attached to my Master page. (vb.net) These user controls display ads, and the pnly difference between them is the width of the ads they should diplay. Is there some way in which I can just register one user control, but use it twice, and then pass different integers to them? In other words, instead of having this: @ Register Src="Ads240.ascx" TagName="Ads240" TagPrefix="uc240" %> @ Register Src="Ads120.ascx" TagName="Ads120" TagPrefix="uc120" %> I'd only like to register one of them: @ Register Src="Ads.ascx" TagName="Ads" TagPrefix="ucAds" %>   Then from the .aspx page I'd like to have two of these:  <ucAds:Ads ID="Ads" runat="server" /> but kind of send different values to them (like "Usercontrolparameter=120") How do I do this? I have looking at properties and the like, but I don't know if they can let me reuse the user control file with different values. Thanks for any help! /Pettrer

SSRS problem with passing multiple parameter values via URL %2c

Hi, I have a problem with passing multiple parameter values from one report (A) to another report (B).   For example I built a URL string in report (A) with the parameters like &Parameter1=1&Parameter1=2. As soon as I click on that URL the URL parameters look like &Parameter1=1%2c2 and the parameters don’t getting populated on report (B).   If I change the parameter in the URL to &Parameter1=1&Parameter1=2 and execute the URL manual the parameter on report (B) getting populated properly.   Is there a way to disable the coding like %2c (comma) or is there another solution for it?   Thanks

Passing numeric checkbox values into a select statement

For efficiency's sake I've created a number of stored procedures to run against an SQL table.  Which procedure runs depends upon the checkboxlist choices a user makes before clicking a button.  The checkboxlist looks something like this:

      <asp:CheckBoxList AutoPostBack="True" runat="server">

         <asp:ListItem Enabled="True" Value="1">Item 1</asp:ListItem>

         <asp:ListItem Value="10"> Item 2</asp:ListItem>

         <asp:ListItem Value="100"> Item 3</asp:ListItem>

      </asp:CheckBoxList>As an example,

What I can't figure out is how to loop through the checkboxes in the Button1_Click event in the .cs code behind page to add up the values of the selected items. (The value of an unclicked box being 0.)  Converted to a string, the totaled value is then appended to a stored procedure name (MyPROC) for entry into the SQL statement.  In other words, if the user clicks just Item 1, then the Button1_Click event would produce a stored procedure name of MyPROC1, insert it into the statement, and fire off the query; if Ite

Passing values to the parent form

I have two forms, a parent and a child. When I close the child form I need to pass a (bool value?) to the parent form which indicates whether I want to close the parent form as well, or not.

How do I pass this value from the child form to the parent form? Or is there a better way to return a value to a parent form?

I’m using VS 2008 and C#

Kind regards
